It is awesome place to visit, you gonna enjoy the historical castle and it's amazing views of the city. One of the best experience that you can enjoy is the "be the Sultan" where you can wear the special Sultan's custom and take pictures with the professional photographer! Running by Jihad and Ruba Al-Syouf, the Sultan's throne is a project where you can have those amazing pictures with very reasonable prices. I highly recommend to try this experience!

Beautiful and precious monument of history, largely well preserved on hilltop with great view to neighbouring countries. There are signs everywhere to explain historical context. Also there shops within the castle where you can buy some souvenirs. Enough parking spaces. Entry fee is fair.

Great historical place .. full of experience.. One thing is that it needs a shuttle bus to carry the eldest people up to the top of the mountain.. we were a group and the old women couldn’t visit the castle because it’s a hard road for them to walk in

Ajloun Castle, also known as Qal'at Ar-Rabad, is a true historical gem and an essential stop for anyone exploring the rich cultural heritage of Jordan. My visit to this remarkable castle left me in awe, and it unquestionably deserves a 5-star rating. The first thing that strikes you about Ajloun Castle is its commanding presence atop a hill, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The strategic location was no accident; it was designed to provide an unobstructed view of the surrounding areas, making it a vital defensive stronghold during its time. Exploring the interior of Ajloun Castle is like stepping back in time. The well-preserved architecture, including the massive stone walls, towers, and halls, gives you a real sense of the castle's historical significance. It's a fascinating journey through history, and the informative exhibits and displays help bring the past to life. The views from the castle's ramparts are simply breathtaking. You can see for miles, with the lush green landscape of northern Jordan spreading out before you. The beauty of the natural surroundings adds to the overall charm of Ajloun Castle. What also impressed me during my visit was the dedication of the staff and local authorities in maintaining and preserving this historical site. The restoration work and efforts to ensure its accessibility to visitors are commendable. It's evident that there's a genuine commitment to conserving Jordan's heritage. Ajloun Castle is not just a historical site; it's a living testament to Jordan's rich history and the many civilizations that have left their mark on this land. It's a place where the past and present intersect, allowing visitors to connect with the country's deep roots. In conclusion, Ajloun Castle is a must-visit destination in Jordan. Its historical significance, well-preserved architecture, and breathtaking views make it deserving of a 5-star rating. It's a place where history comes alive, and you can't help but be captivated by the stories of the past. I wholeheartedly recommend Ajloun Castle to anyone traveling to Jordan for an unforgettable cultural and historical experience.

Ajloun Castle can be seen on the Mount Ajlon hilltop. As soon as we see it for the first time, we want to be there as soon as possible. Fortunately, we can get there quickly by car. Its stormy history left a serious mark on the castle. You can't get enough of the unique landscape of the Jordan Valley.

A very nice castle with many things to explore on various levels. Take some time to appreciate the castle and its beautiful views over the Jordan Valley, rolling hills, and olive groves. If you come late afternoon the sunset view is great for some amazing photos. Staff is also very friendly. I did not plan to stay long, but ended up staying for about 2 hours, taking in the fresh breeze and the stunning views. Also, visit the museum. Bring water, as I was not able to buy bottled water inside the castle.

Beautiful castle…one of the best I’ve seen. I would say it’s under rated. This is such a beautiful place. I suggest you visit towards late afternoon as they switch on beautiful lights inside the castle which makes it even more beautiful. Reach the top for a spectacular view of northern Jordan. A must see if you are in Jordan. Day trip from Amman. Aljoun is a nice slightly chilly place

Wow 🤩!!!!! This is a HUGE and AMAZING castle with so much history. I couldn’t believe the condition that it was in. Spectacular. It was very well built for sure. Love the architecture. You can explore all over the castle and for only 3JD. What an experience. Cool to see how they lived. One interesting thing is how they collected and purified their drinking water.

I had the pleasure of visiting Ajloun Castle in 2014 and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The castle's rich history and stunning architecture make it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and travelers alike. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the majestic presence of the castle, perched atop a hill, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The well-preserved structure and its intricate details were truly awe-inspiring. Exploring the castle's interior was like stepping back in time. The knowledgeable guides provided fascinating insights into the castle's history, sharing captivating stories and anecdotes that brought the site to life. The well-maintained exhibits and artifacts further enriched the experience, showcasing the castle's significance in the region's history. One of the highlights was climbing to the top of the castle's towers, where I was rewarded with mesmerizing vistas of the Jordanian landscape. The views were simply breathtaking, and I couldn't resist taking numerous photographs to capture the beauty of the moment. The castle grounds were well-maintained, with plenty of informative signage and resting areas. The staff members were friendly, accommodating, and more than willing to answer any questions I had. Overall, my visit to Ajloun Castle was nothing short of extraordinary. Its historical significance, impressive architecture, and stunning surroundings make it a true gem in Jordan's cultural heritage. I highly recommend this site to anyone seeking an immersive and enchanting journey back in time.

This historical place lies on the summit of Ajloun's highest mountains which provides an immune shield and guarding location. It was built during Salah Elddin era. The tickets for this place are affordable for both Jordanian and non Jordanian people. I was amazed by the interior lighting, adding steel gates to certain rooms was a great idea for public safety. The view from the upper tower is amazing, the castle is cool from inside and it consists of many rooms. I recommend visiting this place. And I recommend to add interactive screens in each room to illustrate the importance of each room.

This was an amazing castle and much bigger than I was expecting. There are a lot of stairs and I would say you spend maybe an hour there. You buy tickets at a building down the hill from the castle. There are bathrooms there as well. Kids were free and locals are a quarter dinar. Keep your ticket because they check it before entering the castle. You can drive up the hill and park right outside the gate if there is space. There is also a small market outside of the castle which I didn't go see. The castle is well lit and areas which are not safe are blocked off. There are many great views and you can go to the top of the castle. Inside there is also a small museum that is heated in the winter. There are very few plaques giving details about the castle inside.

It was built by Commander Izz al-Din Usama bin Munqith, one of the leaders of Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi in the year 1184 CE (580 AH) to be a focal point for protecting the region and preserving transportation lines and pilgrimage routes between the Levant and the Hijaz for its supervision of the Jordan Valley and its control over the area extending between Lake Tiberias and the Dead Sea. Ajloun Castle is a 12th-century Muslim castle situated in northwestern Jordan. It is placed on a hilltop belonging to the Mount Ajloun district. From its high ground the castle was guarding three wadis which descend towards the Jordan valley. It was built by the Ayyubis in the 12th century and enlarged by the Mamluks in the 13th. A magnificent place offering a breathtaking view of the city downwards. Treat for the history lovers!!

(Translated by Google) The castle was built in the form of a semi-square, and it has four towers, each tower consisting of two floors. After the battle of Hattin, two towers were added, located to the right of the entrance to the castle, and there is a museum inside the castle that contains many wonderful artifacts. The castle was hit by devastating earthquakes in the years 1837 and 1927, but it remained steadfast to be a living witness to the genius of Islamic military engineering, as its location on the highest summit gave it a unique strategic advantage, as it was surrounded by a deep trench of an average width of 16 meters, ranging from 12 to 15 meters deep. To collect water, and as an impenetrable barrier that is difficult to break into, as well as fortified gates and tall towers that formed a unique location for surveillance and defense. Corridors and narrow corridors abound in the castle, including the spacious halls that used to be sleeping quarters for soldiers and stables for the Ayyubid horses, in addition to water wells that accommodate thousands of cubic meters of rainwater. The Ministry of Tourism and Public Antiquities carried out maintenance and restoration work, and restored the bridge suspended over the moat in 1980. The castle's strategic location, its high height of 1,023 meters above sea level, provides a wide view of the Jordan Valley and Palestine from Lake Tiberias to the Dead Sea. On clear days one can see the Jerusalem mountains on the western horizon (Original)

It's a highly recommended historical castle, very well organized, maintained and clean. I recommend to the management, to prepare enough space for car parks, and to consider different type of vehicles such bikes parking.

Well preserved and documented site. It is out of the way. We were there on a hot day (31°) but the interior rooms were very cool. It is interesting but because it is out of the way, I wouldn't say this is a must see but worth the time if nearby.

AJLOUN CASTLE 🏰- All you need to know before you go. Attention! 🆘Attention!! All visitors please note there are NO RESTAURANTS inside the castle. I know you all reading this are thinking the same thing. Ok. We got there. We drove 2+ hours to get to the top of this dang castle. Now where’s the food ??? 🥪🥗🥙🌯🌮🌭🍗🍖 ACTUALLY - The Ajloun Tourism Department has BANNED restaurants to set up shop inside the castle. (Good for them!!👏🏻) SO! When you do get hungry and tired and thirsty, you can head to a place called 📍Jar Al Jabal Restaurant - مطعم جار الجبل — Last ticket entry is at 7pm and the place closes at 8pm. Get there at 6:45 to watch the sunset and YOU 👏🏻 WILL 👏🏻 NOT 👏🏻 REGRET. — ☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️ COFFEE & TEA Right before you pay for your ticket, you will find the most welcoming & hospitable man selling FRESH tea with mint 🍃 PS: depending on which nationality you are from, he will change the price of the tea! 🤣 I saw two Khaleeji guys get charged TWICE the amount I got charged!! Happened before my eyes! 👀 PS: For more reviews follow me on @jordanianexplorer on instagram and feel free to DM me with any questions!!

A very famous castle having a strong position in terms military success for the whole region. Nice views from the top. Genuine taste of history during the time of Western crusaders. Absolutely a place to visit. Just a bit more than 30 min drive to north from Amman.

I didn’t know we were going to get to visit a castle in Jordan. It was great. Lots of stairs and they are all uneven but worth the view to go to the top. Just take your time and be careful.

The place is beautiful, and have a rich history. However, some people are disgusting, whether they are throwing trash or smoking inside the castle. I do strongly believe that the tourism ministry should enforce more strict rules when it comes to the historical sites cleanliness. Other than this, the castle is so beautiful and I recommend you to visit.

Located on top of one of the highest mountains in the area with an amazing panoramic view of Ajloun on one side and the valley on the other side. Very few road signs to direct you to the site, Google Maps is highly recommended. Steap driveway makes it hard to park. The castle is breathtaking. However, I have seen much larger. A must visit while in Jordan.

Ajloun Castle, also known as Qala'at Ar-Rabad, is a medieval fortress located in the town of Ajloun in northern Jordan. It was built in the 12th century by the nephew of the famous Muslim military leader Saladin, Izz al-Din Usama bin Munqidh, to defend against Crusader attacks. The castle is situated on a hilltop overlooking the surrounding countryside, providing a strategic vantage point for monitoring the movement of troops and guarding against enemy incursions. Its location made it an important stronghold in the defense of the region and the protection of trade routes. The fortress consists of several towers and walls built of local limestone, with a central courtyard that once served as a meeting place for soldiers and officials. The castle has undergone several modifications and renovations over the centuries, including additions by the Mamluks and Ottomans. Today, Ajloun Castle is a popular tourist attraction and is open to visitors year-round. It offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside and provides a fascinating glimpse into Jordan's rich history and cultural heritage.

A small but impressive castle perched on the hilltop overlooking the surrounding area. There is a small exhibit of artifacts found nearby inside. The inside is well lit but would be difficult to access if you had any significant mobility issues. Still, it is very fun for children (and adults alike) who have good imaginations! The visitor facilities at the castle are pared back due to COVID so i recommend you take your own drinks/snacks although the restaurant and facilities over at the official visitors centre are open. I recommend including the castle as part of a trip which also takes in other sights nearby such as Mar Elias, one of the forest reserve or a hike around the surrounding area as it does not take long to visit the castle itself.

A wonderful panoramic view to see the sunset and the surrounding area. No traffic this time of the year (January) and mostly local tourists. The castle wasn't lit up and a lot of the halls were closed but it still was a nice experience. You need a maximum of one hour to see it. There are also other Jordan trail locations nearby, so there is a lot to see while enjoying picturesque and elevated scenery!

Ajloun Castle (Arabic: قلعة عجلون‎; transliterated: Qalʻat 'Ajloun), is a 12th-century Muslim castle situated in northwestern Jordan. It is placed on a hilltop belonging to the Mount Ajloun district, also known as Jabal 'Auf after a Bedouin tribe which had captured the area in the 12th century. From its high ground the castle was guarding three wadis which descend towards the Jordan Valley. It was built by the Ayyubids in the 12th century and enlarged by the Mamluks in the 13th. رحمه الله على صلاح الدين الأيوبي
