One of the most important religious and historical monuments in Amman Built From 1924 to 1927 in the down town . Founded by Prince Abdullah I bin Al Hussein This name was named after Sharif Hussein bin Ali, leader of the Great Arab Revolution in the Arabian Peninsula and the Levant. It is worth mentioning that it was built on the ruins of the old Umayyad Mosque as well The architecture used to build the mosque blends with the sounds of prayer and worshippers in a beautiful way worth trying to visit and perform prayers, especially Friday prayers.

Historical mosque worth seeing when in Amman imo. Originally built in Omar R.A's era and then rebuilt in 1921 by the current ruler family.

For a tourist the place is ok, worth it to see since is close to many interesting spots in Amman but it's not fancy like other temples.

It is just a simple mosque like other mosques and at this time construction work is going on inside it like other mosques, neither is the architecture like that nor it has been renovated in such a way. Which makes it unique Located inside the bazaar, you can see it while walking around the bazaar at any time

Good mosque in the city center 🕌 The mosque is very spacious, organized and very nice designed, but recently it needs some renovations because it’s old. Other than that the place is great machallah

I like the outdoor market. It's selling so many things such as Souvenirs and the Jordan's dresses with an affordable price as well as the Spices, Zattar, Maramiya and Olives.

It is a beautiful, tidy and very spacious mosque in the center of Amman, or what is known as the old markets, and it is very well known regionally. Congregational prayers are held in it, that is, a religious scholar leads the worshipers, especially on Friday, because it is the favorite day for them, and the mosque is filled with worshipers because they believe that praying in the mosque is tens of times better than praying outside. home and has a special reward from God.

One of the oldest mosques in Amman, rebuilt by King Abdullah I in 1932 on the site of the one built by the second Caliph, Omar Bin Al-Khattab around 640 AD. Tourists may be able to enter if dressed appropriately. Close to this mosque are two famous souqs: Souq Bukharia (good for getting souvenirs) and Souq Al-Sukar (fruit, vegetables, nuts and spices.

Located at the heart of downtown Amman, the mosque stands on the site of an earlier mosque that was built during the reign of Caliph Omar Ben Al Khattab’s (634-644 AD) and renovated during the Umayyad era (661-750AD), the documents show. I have also added its historical pictures which indicated before and now situation of the masjid.

Big prayer space but unfortunately not clean, the toilets are also very dirty. A mosque should be the perfect example of the most cleanest place, cleaner than our own homes.

It's a great symbol in the centre of Amman. The mosque is big, clean and there are roofs to keep your shoos everywher in the mosque. Cold water is available all the time. The mosque is few metres to the city market.

Love that the beautiful Quranic recitation from the prayers can be heard in the streets. Iconic and genuine feel inside. Great place to chill. I think there's only space for men.

Not having much relative experience with these kind of buildings as Greek Cypriot.( I have visited only a few mosques in Cyprus, Egypt and Syria). It is though, a well build mosque that gives the area a different perspective and appearance. From my point of view, its architecture is more interesting than most of the typical Christian churches.Due to the typical lack of cleanliness of Arabic market places like this, the whole image is a bit spoiled.

There is a clean abolition place in the women section. The ground flour has benchmarks to pray. The upper floor is wide & relaxing to worship in. The mosque has a taste of art of Islamic history building

Clean place in our time don't was so full of people's. Nice for see. Amman is not so tourism place (clean and easy for tourists) but is full of helpful people's.

  • 4/5 Rajai H. 1 year ago on Google
Very authentic and full of characters and designs. Good fir tourists but the staff and people( including staff) don't allow foreign people to enter. This policy should be changed.

  • 3/5 Ben H. 1 year ago on Google
It's a Mosque, nothing special. Be aware women are on the left (don't forget headscarf), and men on right (remove shoes where it's obvious you should).

Currently undergoing major renovations. Otherwise, always a wonderful Masjid to pray at especially that it's an important part of Amman's heritage. (It was built on the Capital's main street more than 100 years ago!)

Non-muslims are also welcomed. The shop next to the mosque is very expensive, but with a goodwill (local handmade products, to support local craftsmen & help children).

It's a mosque, nothing special to mention. Not really worth a visit. Visitors have to pay 1JOD entrance fee.
