Very peaceful environment even this temple situated in heart of city. Dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, the temple is named after the Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram and the deity Vishnu is depicted reclining on the mythological five-headed serpent as in the Padmanabhaswamy Temple of Thiruvananthapuram. The temple was constructed in 1962 on land donated by Chithira Thirunal, the last Maharaja of Travancore and caters to Chennai's Malayali community. The temple is constructed in the Kerala style.

Very well maintained temple. Temperature checking and sanitization is mandatory. Car parking may be difficult in peak hours or weekends in surrounding areas. Free chappal stand is available outside of the temple. It is a worth visiting place, we do not have such temple for Sri Ananthasayana Padmanabha Swamy anywhere in Chennai city. Also do not forget to visit Sri Anatha Eswarar in the same temple campus under a peepul tree.

It is an amazing sould finding temple with great devotional vibes. Temple History : The Anantha Padmanabhaswami Temple is a Hindu temple in the neighbourhood of Adyar in Chennai, India. The temple is located on 2nd Main Road, Gandhi Nagar, near the Fortis Malar Hospital. The temple was constructed in 1962 on land donated by Chithira Thirunal, the last Maharaja of Travancore and caters to Chennai’s Malayali community. The temple is constructed in the beautiful Kerala style and is well maintained to this date. Within the premises of the temple, lie an yagashala for conducting daily sermons. There is also a statue of Chithira Thirunal, the last Maharajah of Travancore unveiled by Lord Erskine, the then Governor of Madras on September 29, 1939 commemorating the Temple Entry Proclamation.

Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple is dedicated to Vishnu. It is a replica of Anantha Padmanabha Swamy of Trivandrum. The main deity Lord Vishnu is in the reclining posture on the five headed Adhisesha. The main deity is worshipped through 3 doors, which represents the birth, life & death of a person. Through the first door, we can see the face of Padmanabha & the right hand worshipping the Siva Lingam. From the second door we can see the Brahma seated on a lotus originating from the Vishnu's navel & from the 3rd door we can see the Lord's lotus feet. The sanctum also has idols of Sage Bhrigu, Sage Markandeya as well as Sridevi & Bhoomi Devi. There are separate shrines for Vinayagar & Navagraha outside the main temple. Inside there are shrines for Garuda & Anjaneya. Outer walls of the sanctum has idols of Sudharshana, Lakshmi Narasihma, Ashtadasabhuja Mahadurga. It was built in 1962 on the land donated by Chithira Thirunal, the last Maharaja of Travancore.

Sri Anantha Padmanabha swamy temple is a very divine place. The main deity is in sleeping posture. Temple is well maintained and clean. Also has a waiting area to sit and see aarthi and Pooja happening to the deity. One among the blissful temples for Perumal. Would recommend it for all devotees.

We are blessed to have dharshan of Arulmigu Anantha Padhmanabasamy with Arthi. We are planning a pilgrimage to Anantha Padhmanabasamy Temple at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, but somehow it's not materialised. However today that desire fulfilled by having very good dharshan at Shri Anantha Padhmanabasamy Temple at Gandhi Nagar, Adyar, Chennai. Very neatly maintained and very calm divine atmosphere. Those who are unable to visit the Shri Anantha Padhmanabasamy Temple at Thiruvananthapuram can have dharshan at this temple.

It is very beautiful temple of Ananthasayana Perumal temple. Inside Garudalvar, Lakshmi Narasimha, Astapuja Durga and other Kosta deities are there. Photography is not allowed inside. A big Golden chariot is also there inside the temple. Mahavishnu is in sleeping pose as of Thiruvananthapuram. Important dates huge rush will be here. Behind this temple a Shiva is also there under a big tree. Shiva alankara is so beautiful. Parking also available nearby places.

Normally, all temples have great positive vibes. It's no different with Sri Anantha Padmanaswamy temple at Adyar. And also, this temple is quite different from most temples in the city. One has to visit to know what i mean, i am not able to verbalise the feeling. Please do visit the temple. There is enough parking for cars and bikes around the temple.

Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple situated in 2nd main road. Adyar, Chennai. Approachable from Adyar Signal . Well maintained neat and clean . You can have a darshan as same as in Srirangam. Footwear stand available. Flowers, Coconuts, Fruits, betel leafs, available near by. Rubberised wheeled chariot, with noiseless, movement around diety on occasions. Near to Adyar MRT station, from Madya Kailash.

Have already visited Trivandrum Anantha padmanaba temple. This is not so big in size of temple as well as size of bhagavan statue. But it looks the same as we are in standing there. When asked for archana ticket, that guy said "only with coconut, flower, naivethyum like nuts or kalakandu only be given. Else just in and make dharshan." Finally made dharshan with archana. On that day was thiruvonam stars pooja & received its pongal prasadham also.

This place is just near the Adyar old bus depot. The divine atmosphere and seating area in front of Perumal are ideal for meditation. Compared to other temples, there isn't much crowd in this temple. It's my favorite temple in Chennai. Try to visit at least once...

The temple that my mom and I love the most. Close to our home and we always go to this temple. Love the temple ambiance and Veshti or full pants is mandatory for men. If you forget that they will provide you a veshti at the temple entrance.

Temple located near Adyar signal... Dharshan was too good... They are maintaining the temple near and clean... You will definitely feel the divine while entering the temple... You can't compare this with Anandha Padmanabha swamy located at Kerala...

Magnificent, Gigantic and Marvellous. I wonder how the Temple was built centuries back when there was no construction equipment. A must-visit place for every Hindu in the world.

It is one of the best destination for local people of Adyar. It is a small Temple with neatly maintained atmosphere, cleanliness of deities, etc. Lord Venkateswara is in lying posture, a rare to see in Chennai and other deities also very attractive. It has a Mantapa inside. Generally the surrounding is a posch area with calm atmosphere. Only car parking you have to search at some distance. It is very good place for local people and maybe surrounding Adyar people. Peace of mind is guaranteed and even for long distance people it can be a occasional destination.

One of the most well maintained temples in Chennai. You can find almost all Padmanabha-related deities there. Best time to visit is around 9 am in the morning as there is lesser crowd and you can get a good Aarti and Darshan of all the Gods. They also have an attached auditorium for classical music, dance and instrumental concerts especially during the Sabha / Music season during Margazhi (December - January). It's always a pleasure visiting this temple.

Not sure if many know such a sane temple exists in Chennai, and at the heart. No words shall explain the positive vibe one gets when they are in the temple. Pretty decently maintained temple. One should experience the vibe in here.

Though recently built, this is one of the best maintained temples. Very close to Adyar signal and doesn't have it's own parking area .. Deities are well adorned and well lit. Staff are courteous and is crowded generally.. Worth a visit especially during Pooja Holidays

A very peaceful place which makes you feel connected to God. There's ample space for everyone to move so there's no pushing and pulling. A tad crowded during festivals and Saturdays, but no problem otherwise. I always feel at peace whenever I visit this temple.

All are money minded in this temple. They do not care for senior citizens. Took ₹.100/ - from me and did nothing. The main pandit's assistant is not fit to be in temple. I am visiting this temple after 10 years from Mumbai.Very sorry state of affairs. This remarks of mine is not going make any difference unless the top administration take a good control of the temple pandits In fact they behave like demo-gods.

Being Dwadashi get same as Thiruvananthapuram and other Sannadhi too. You will feel vibration during darshan. Very neatly maintained and adopt social distance with ensuring all devotees wear mask all time.

  • 4/5 Nagarajan K. 2 years ago on Google
Very Good experience visiting this temple. Temperature check is mandatory and safety protocols are followed largely. Very clean and tilaks are kept at common location for devotees to take it by themselves, considering safety protocols. No parking space, have to manage alongside road. There's a location nearby entrance, to keep footwears for free.
