Worst place I’ve ever stayed at, because of how awful the customer service was. I felt like I was staying in a mean grandmother’s house who didn’t want us to be there from the start. They didn’t provide change for us to pay and made us wake up at 5:30 am after arriving late at 3 am due to flight changes to go to try and find change. They told us to go to a bakery 3 blocks down to ask for change, so we did, at 5:30 am and the people at the bakery laughed in our faces. We then had to go find an ATM ourselves and take out the change that way. When we got back to the hostel and paid I let the owner know that there was a bus outside and asked kindly if that was the bus we were taking to Valbona. She rudely snapped at me and said “I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN YOUR BUS IS HERE. THAT IS NOT YOUR BUS.” 2 seconds later she went out to check and comes back in and goes “your bus is here.” It’s the same bus I just asked about lol. I tried filling up my water bottle before leaving and she screams at me once again and does not allow me to get water for my 9 hour trip to Valbona. Another kind man staying at the hostel saw this ordeal and felt bad for me and came running after me to give me some water of his own. We were not provided with any sort of food for our trip to Valbona either. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had staying at any hostel, hotel, airbnb, etc. The owner was the meanest woman I’ve met in a very long time. Do not stay here if you are a kind traveler or you will regret it. ❤️

Good located and very friendly, helpful staff but because of a few dogs living there a little bit dirty. We found a lot of dog s**t in the garden and even two droppings inside on the hallway. Unfortunately I hit the one in the first night… Also you should know that there are two rooms you can only reach when you walk through the living and bedroom of the housekeeper.

Amazing Hostel in Shkodra! Nice and clean rooms, very friendly owner and people. You can borrow bikes and do great Tours to discover the surrounding of the city. The people were really helpful and gave me great recommendation on what to do in Shkodra and where to eat authentic albanian food. I had an absolutely perfect stay there!

Cosy laid back hostel with a great relaxed atmosphere. Visiting in November they have a log stove on keeping the spacious common area nice and warm. Big kitchen and delicious breakfasts provided as extra. Well staffed and kept clean to a high standard. Nothing to fault here. I had a very pleasant stay. Well equipped for activities and bikes for hire.

I loved everything about this hostel. There was lots of common areas where people chatted and hung out together, and also some privacy in the rooms with curtained beds (my favorite). You can rent bikes for exploring the city, but it is so close to the center though you can get around fine without one. And they have dogs and a cat which was lovely.

😁Was amazing here, definitely recommend to anyone. Met some brilliant people and had lots of fun. Hosts were so lovely and made it a fun yet relaxing time all day and especially in the evenings when they hung out with everyone too. Had plenty of great recommendations for food. Plenty of choice for different types of rooms and a very homely environment. Even had some beautiful dogs there! Will make sure I go back again as soon as I can! Thank you! 😁

Listen the place is great. Shared locations and the facilities are all great. The people are very kind just like the dogs but where i slept was a outside cabin filled with mosquitos. I couldnt sleep at all due to this and as i turned even a little in the bunk bed it would squeek and shake. At the end i have been bitten all over, and my trip is basicly ruined as i got sick of it. The hostel atmosphere was good but in the end you come here to sleep and i could absolutely not do that therefor i recommend you to get a room inside and not in that horrendous cabin.

Best hostel I’ve ever stayed in! I had an amazing experience in this place, I’ll definitely return and I will always recommend it. Most welcoming and generous owner+staff I’ve ever met. Cosy and warm place. Very kind backpackers and a great atmosphere. Huge and well equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds with locker included. Great location. You can’t miss it!

Worst ever hostel in 30years of travelling…not sorry to say, they deserve it. Surprisingly unfriendly staff, price for private room much higher than a great Pension in Gjirokaster (which had a great breakfast and hospitality), breakfast advertised but not existing, room was stunningly under-basic without any possibility to even put a jacket… I am not sure how this got so good reviews. I moved to neighbourhood‘s Eco Garden Guesthouse which was cheaper even with good breakfast, having a caring owner and a big room which I can call a room.

We absolutely loved this place!!! We ended up staying a total of 9 days! We are in Southern Albania now and we miss Mi Casa. It really is like having another home abroad. Everyone there is so nice and caring! The common space is beautiful and everyone is super social. We can’t wait to go back before heading to Montenegro. ❤️ -Heather & Ryan

I got badly bitten by bedbugs in a dorm room. When I complained about this, all my clothes were washed free of charge and I was relocated to upstairs. The old woman - apparently the owner - came after me upstairs and started accusing me of bringing the bedbugs to the hostel. She was very aggressive and even suggested I should go away. I knew these bedbugs were resident in this very establishment, as I did not have bites before. And I did not have bedbug bites ever after this incident. I read the Google maps reviews, as well as Tripadvisor reviews from past and learn this is a recurring pattern at Shkodra Backpackers spanning many years. Belittlement and even accusations against travelers when the guesthouse hosts are very well aware of the chronic bedbug infestation they have.

Really welcoming and social (easy to meet others) and overall great place to stay. They also help a lot with organizing tours. Minor complaints are the shower head pressure was low for my room and I think the €6 fee to hang up your own washing is ridiculously pricey for a hostel here (some hostels dont charge to use theirs).

I did not stay at the hostel, but visited it for other reasons. What a cosy place with excellent athmosphere and great, helpfull stuff. If I ever come to Shkoder again, I will definitely stay here.

The hostel is lovely with a great attention to detail in decorations and lots of social spaces to hang out and meet people, or even just read your book. Beds are fairly comfortable (though the double bed is on the smaller side). At the time that we were staying there, it was better to pay with euros rather than lek due to the exchange rate they used. Also, I would not recommend using their bike rental service: the bikes aren't in the best condition, and there are multiple cheaper bike rentals nearby. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay, thanks! :)

Stayed there for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. Everyone was really friendly and the location couldn‘t be better. Would defenitly recommend. They provide organised daytrips as well as drives to teth or valbone ◡̈

Very cozy for off-season traveling that want to rest and enjoy some great company. The owners are great people and the volunteers working are also lovely. They are also very helpful to set up your trip to Valbona-Theth and you can leave luggage for 1€/day if you decide to go there. They also help you with your buses to move between Tirana, Kotor, etc.

The first hostel in the city of Shkodra. Now an icon, an essential part of the city and the culture. The size of it, is not comparable to the contribution in tourisn & values cultivated all these years in the society. If you are on the road and want to stop just to refresh is your wanna go place. If you are going from place to place is your wanna go place for extra directions. Wether with family, friends, solo; business, events or simply pleasure is a must consider place. This not to create immense expectations purely speaking on personal experince. Some of the staff is there since preopening, others international come and go during the peak seasons. Alma has shown many times of wonderful hospitaly and a big heart. Ani the daughter has been really passionate too for what they do. It was time for me to write a review too. I am grateful for everything! Shume shume falemners per gjithçka!!

“A window” in the dorm room which only leads to another “room”. No fresh air. Also they sold a room to someone else even if we booked it? We had to demand a refund multiple times until eventually they accepted it. Last but not least: bedbugs. Thanks for nothing. I’d recommend to stay away. If you split an airbnb on 3 people you pay almost the same as if you’d stay in this hostel per night.

Excellent location and lovely staff, even the pets of the family are lovely. They provide you all the information to do the trekking Valbonë-Theth and you have the option to buy it with them. Slept in the double room with bunk bed and it was always super clean with all the amenities.

The backpackers hostel indeed worth it's name, it's what every backpackers and travelers want : A place that feel more like a home than a hotel. We shared food and diner, my favorite sweater repaired by a very professional staff, there is a cosy living room... This place attract other like minded peoples who like to have more than just a place to stay, you never run out of really interesting friends.

Had a lovely stay here. Amazing staff, rooms were clean and was overall very happy with my stay. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a hostel in Shkoder. What's more, they helped retrieve a bag I left there! They got it on a bus to tirana just in time before my flight. What an amazing gesture. Really shows the hosts will go out of their way to help people. Thank you guys!

Alma and Ani have created a beautiful home away from home! The hostel has private rooms and doors and as for the private rooms, they all had an AC. Mi casa es tu casa is a simple place, don't go there if you're looking for luxury. It's very easy to talk to everyone and there's a lot of beauty in this very very old building. You can feel how much love was put into this place. I would definitely recommend this place and I would also come back!

Amazing hostel! Such a lovely and calming place to stay, perfectly located in the center of shkodra. Rooms are nice and very clean. Highlight of our stay was the friendly staff and the owners as well as their cute dogs. Thank you! :)

My friend recommended this hostel and without planning I stayed for a night. All the staff were great and kind, they have a nice lounge to hang out, play games or have a beer. They also adopt animals so don't expect not to find fur. I'll definitely go back!

It was one of the best hostel I’ve done in my life! The location was very central and in the mean time, you feel cut from the world in a peaceful garden with some hamacs and nice little bar with local beverages! People working there are really nice and helpful (good tips for food or anything else). The dogs are also really friendly! Will 100% recommend and come back if I’m travelling again in Shkodra ! Thanks for everything :)

This hostel is a "must go" for travelers. The rooms are great, the kitchen is wide and well equipped and the the living room and the yard are fantastic. There's an option to rent bicycles for a decent price and have a nice cold beer in the evening. Most of all, the Staff members are nice and welcoming. I'm hoping to go back sometime! Thank you for your hospitality (:

Probably best hostel in town with lots of common space and cute dogs, warm recommendation from our side.

Dont go there if you dont like dogs. Some of the dogs are not clean yet and have poo and pee accidents inside of the house. That made our stay less enjoyable. On the other hand the staff is nice, location is great, rooms too. Internet connection is bad in the rooms.

Couldn’t stay long enough, but this place definitely deserves a visit. Located in downtown of Shkoder, literally 2 steps out of all monuments, the value is on the story of this 200 years house. Alma, the owner, and her rich background, make the difference. She will answer any questions, give suggestions and that’s the way we felt like being at home. There are a few dogs running around for the dog lovers. Will be back soon for a longer stay.

😐 The guesthouse is located in a beautiful place on the lake, about 20 minutes away from Shkodra by car. There is plenty of free parking spots on the premises. 👍👍 Lovely family run hostel. I stayed in one of their apartments which was very comfortable with great AC. I had a broken foot, and the family were so generous and happy to help.
