Incredibly beautiful. Not too crowded. Tons of scenic overlooks on the gorgeous skyline drive. Visitor centers are well equipped with clean restrooms, snacks, and dining options (inside & outside) all with stunning views! They also have gift shops. The park was lovely. We wanted to see a bear but settled for some deer, lots of birds, butterflies, and caterpillars.

The entry fee is 30 per private car. The pass is good for a week. 100 mile long driving trail. One gas station near the lodging. Two lodging facilities; 300 a night. I Would recommend just bringing your own camper. plenty of caping grounds. Bring a tick and mosquito repellent. There is plenty of parking available, if you want to hike. The roads are like snake and high altitude. Definitely fun driving downhill.

Great place to enjoy nature. Tons of hiking around and opportunities for views, waterfalls and just being surrounded with beauty. The skyline drive is an epic drive with insane overviews throughout the entire length. Highly recommended.

This is the first National Park I've been able to see with my own eyes. The views are breathtakingly beautiful. There are plenty of scenic viewing areas on the way up so that you can stop and take pictures or eat lunch. They also have picnic areas if you want to enjoy your lunch and let the children run around. There are tons of trails to explore on foot or horseback. Oh, did I mention the breathtaking views. This is a bucket list must see.

I went here to take a ride along Skyline Drive and it was absolutely gorgeous! There are plenty of overlooks to stop by and enjoy the views. During the fall, it is so beautiful! The park is very clean and well maintained. Definitely will come here again for a weekend day trip. This is a perfect place for a day trip from around the DC area.

We drive here every year, and the scenery never gets old! It's voted one of the top 5 places to visit for change of leaves in the US. I highly recommend going during the week if you can, to avoid the major traffic on the weekend. If you must go on weekend, plan to get there when the park opens. This is your best chance to get into the park early enough to enjoy a full day there. Weekdays allow you to take your time with very little traffic. Best overlook spots start at Front Royal entrance. Cost to enter is per vehicle and not per person and you can re-enter up to 7 days on the receipt without having to pay again! So keep track of your receipt! Bring your lunch and a blanket for a great picnic. They also have plenty of picnic tables at certain rest stops. You can also purchase food at certain locations along the drive. Great outing for the family of all ages, especially those with limited mobility (since most of your time spent will be in the car and at overlooks). Wonderful hiking spot (part of the Appalachian trail.

105 miles from north to south, this park is full of beautiful overlooks and winding trails up and down the mountains. It's exceptional beauty is a sight to behold, and it's a peaceful drive, going from overlook to overlook. I didn't do too many of the trails, but the one I did had gorgeous views and bountiful nature. I spent two days at this park and I feel like I only saw a small fraction of it.

Our family had the best time here. The views are unbelievable. We stayed at a local resort but next time we will definitely stay in the park. You can just drive through and still see so much if you accessibility issues. However, most of the hikes are at least moderate with steep climbs.

The skyline is 120 miles, if I’m correct and it’s has tons of scenic overlooks. We were lucky enough to see some wildlife, sunset and full moon. The entrance free is $30 and eligible for 7 days, so it’s important to keep the receipt close.

Very well done visitor centers. Plenty of areas containing comfort stations. Skyline Drive has beautiful scenic overlooks. Suggest avoiding this route during foggy, rainy, icy or snowy conditions.

Beautiful National park! Lots of hiking trails and waterfalls! It’s $30/car to get into the park but the pass lasts a whole week! There’s also lots of deer and other wildlife in the area. Campgrounds in the park get booked out pretty quickly. Camp stores throughout the park are nice!

It is simply beautiful. The only thing that I missed during my trip to SNP was the greenery which was expected when you visit in March. Waiting to come back here in summer or fall. The skyline drive was simply one of the best roads I had the chance the drive in the US so far. It had lot of beautiful scenic overlooks, treks almost every 1 mile. Loved having to spend my birthday here.

An excellent park with wilderness, hiking, dozens of overlooks with great views of the valleys and the foliage. It is colorful during late October with fall foliage. Drive slow at the speed limit on the 105 miles of Skyland drive on the ridge of the mountain range.

The hike up to Compton Peak was beautiful and not too strenuous. Everyone at the visitor center was nice and knowledgeable. They have maps, calendars, a museum and other wonderful affordable gifts. I recommend that you take pics at every overlook. Remember to take water and throw away and recycle at designated areas.

We drove up and down the north side of Shenandoah national Park skyline drive, it was amazing. We went to the top where the lodge was and actually did a 2/10 of a mile hike up a hill to a rock face area lookout for some incredible pictures. It's best to see this all in person. You'll want to take pictures also to trigger memories but seeing the views in person can't be captured by just a camera.

An absolutely gorgeous park. I really enjoyed the week backpacking through sections of it. This park really grabs what the east coast forests are like. It might not be the Rockies or the arches, but it offers serene landscapes with so much flora. I really look forward to my next trip. It never felt busy, it allowed for some really calm hiking and quiet time. The age of this area allows for some unique discovery or old, once standing buildings with only stone foundations remaining. Lots of hidden gems to find.

We came during the wild fires out west so we did not get the full views but we still loved the park. Lots of wildlife (fawns, hawks, falcons everywhere) great views, fun peaks and waterfall hikes and the road is such a beautiful drive. Definitely a must see park... Although try to pick a clear day.

I have frequently visited Shenandoah National Park over the past couple of years, and it is always an absolutely breathtaking experience! From the moment I entered the park, the friendly and knowledgeable rangers made me feel welcome and provided valuable information to enhance my visit. Skyline Drive is truly a marvel, offering stunning panoramic views that left me in awe of the natural beauty surrounding me. The winding roads and scenic overlooks provided countless opportunities for memorable photos and moments of quiet reflection. The park's maintenance and cleanliness were also impressive, making for a comfortable and enjoyable drive. One of the highlights of my visit was the ample hiking opportunities that Shenandoah National Park has to offer. The trails leading to mountain tops and river valleys provided a perfect blend of challenge and reward. The diverse ecosystems and wildlife along the way made each hike a unique and enriching experience.

Only did a quick stop at some overlooks and drove part of the skyline drive. There wasn’t tons to look at with the bare trees, although the mountains in the distance were beautiful. Will be returning during the winter!

Very beautiful place. Totally worth a visit. I went on Halloween Weekend 2021 and it was not super crowded. Around this time, the trees were showing it's Autumn colors so it was just a sight to behold. We did the Skyline Drive and stopped at most of the overlooks, the Harry F. Byrd, Sr. Visitor Center. a few of the gift shops and the Skyland stop. The visitor center, giftshops and other stops with bathrooms were a bit busy. Over the course of 2 days, we drove part of the south end starting from Swift Run Gap and all of the northern end starting from the Swift Run Gap. The overlooks were more crowded on the northern half of the drive. The roads were in great condition and all of the overlooks were marked. Great views from most of the overlooks. I wish they had a few more places to get food along the way, a few of the food stops were closed while we were there. Overall Great experience and I highly recommend a visit to Shenandoah National Park.

The fee to enter the park per vehicle is $30 (which is waived for military members if you show your ID). The whole park is drivable and the views are very beautiful. I recommend going on a sunny day to get the best pictures. It does get cold up there, especially during the fall and winter season so dress warm.

Good park. Lots of animals and song birds to find. Good trails, although they were pretty tough for us but the views at the end were worth it. Definitely get there early and plan your day out at the visitor centers. The park rangers were amazing.

Shenandoah national Park is an amazing place with beautiful views and then there is a picnic spot on top of the mountain where you can go with your family/friends and have lots of fun. Very scenic and very nice spots for photography and picnic. This place is a must visit if you are in Virginia and you love nature and mountains.

Of the the best times I have had ever outdoors. So much to do, so little time to do it it. Come for a few days to enjoy all the activities. Miles on upon miles of trails at all different levels. Countless breath taking views. Bring bug spray and bear spray. Kid friendly, dog friendly keep on a lease, handicapped accessible for most trials. Park Rangers very visible. A lot of people on trials never felt unsafe or concerned. Bring your water and enjoy a wonderful, beautiful time.

We visited here on a very chilly, overcast, drizzly day. Even with the weather being less than ideal, the views were spectacular! We drove all around the park and made stops at all of the overlooks and admire the mountains. We are definitely planning a trip back soon now that it's warm enough to do a hike.

The skyline drive is incredibly profound day or two trip. We traveled it’s entire length jumping off for meals and over night stays at Harvest Home sites. The views are spectacular and it gives you a feeling of what our earth was like before mankind came a long and “civilized “ it.

We came to the park during Memorial Day long weekend, the park was not very crowded compared with other national parks. It was rainy one night, the view of the following morning is spectacular, it felt like driving in the clouds! The Doyles River trail is amazing which goes deep into the forest.

We found some fun without having to go to far. Just past mile marker 9 from the north entrance is lands run parking lot. There is no sign don’t listen to them if they say there is we checked twice. But from there is a 10 minute hike to a killer water fall that’s very family friendly safe for kids with supervision.

Amazing skyline with a wonderful view. The best time to view fall foliage would be at the end of October. There a great many trails for hiking. Also a lot of picnic areas and overlooks. You have to pay an entrance fee which is good through 7 days.

Beautiful National Park with options for everyone. If you just want to enjoy a nice drive with plenty of overlooks to see the Blue Ridge Mountains, the skyline is for you! If you want to be a bit more adventurous and hike sections of the Appalachian Trail, that's another option, too! It was nice that most of the trails were dog friendly.

Paid $30 to have a weekly pass to take a few hikes along with scenic drives along skyline drive! Highly recommend to anyone looking to explore the area. We first hiked the south river falls and not worth the hike to be honest unless you take fire road straight to the base of the falls. Next we headed to bearfence mountain trail and if you want like to rock scrambling than i highly recommend it(no dogs allowed on this trail). It offered a great workout that required you to pull yourself up in a few different spots which is why no dogs and maybe not good for young kids with no experience since it gets very narrow with a decent drop off on both sides. There's a few stop worth hanging out and watching the sunset or sunrise if you do your research! We spent all week exploring with our 8 month old and our 2 pups. Highly recommend

Shenandoah is one of the most accessible national parks since it offers many outlooks along the Skyline Drive without the needs of hiking. It’s beautiful in both summer and the fall foliage season. I would recommend visitors to stay in the park so that it will save them quite a lot of time commuting into the park.

I LOVE Shenandoah national park so much! I could talk about how great it is for days. In my opinion, it’s one of the best national parks I’ve ever been to. Hiking through this park is a joy, and the views are stunning. Even just taking a drive through the park is a stunning adventure. The dramatic views that surround the park are a delight to be around. The viewpoints are beautiful and as a photographer, I really do love this place a lot. Below are some photos I took while I was in the park. I definitely do recommend stopping at the visitor's centers throughout the park.

[late review from March 2023] this was my second time to Shenandoah, both times I missed the beauty of fall color in the valley, still I found the park is beautiful all around the year. There are many vista points and trails that lead to them. Because of patches of snow at that time, not all places were safe however. Weather wise I found it quite comfortable for hiking. Strongly suggest bringing plenty of foods and drinks, and taking paper map given at the entrance, phone reception horrible for all networks.

My wife and I were driving home from California. We were in the area of Shenandoah National Park. Both of us had seen the northern half during our previous lives. Neither of us had seen the southern half of the Skyline Drive. We were in my Tesla short range Model 3. I charged up the battery in Staunton, Virginia near the Rockfish Gap entrance at the south end of the Skyline Drive. Because of the increased elevation of the Skyline Drive compared to where I charged the battery, it appeared that I had used way more miles than I had actually driven when I arrived at the intersection of the Skyline Drive and the mid park exit road. I was concerned about being able to get to the next Supercharger. I had gone a distance of about 55 miles inside the park, but the miles remaining estimated by my car went from 207 miles when I charged the battery to 92 miles remaining when I exited the park. By the time I arrived at the level of the Piedmont Plateau below the park, I had traveled 20 miles, and my battery had regenerated a few miles. We arrived at the next Supercharger with plenty of spare charge. Oh, thanks for reminding me, this is a review of Shenandoah National Park. It's not supposed to be a review of my car. Sorry about that. The park was great. We saw mammals, birds, and lots of scenery. The rangers were friendly and informative. This was a weekday so there wasn't much traffic. We enjoyed the park.

Great spot to relax/walk/kayak/fish/photograph. There is a trail that runs the entire perimeter of the lake that has some beautiful views of the lake and local wildlife. There are several spots around to fish from the bank. Do note that you are supposed to have a valid hunting/fishing license or an access permit to be able to be on this property.

One of the best experiences we had all Winter cannot say enough about this place. Took my three year old son and we had snow for a day which is really seldom and special for us. This is one of my favorite places to go and walk around. Occasionally we take our kayaks on the water, but I do think the water is very dirty and full of weeds. (There's a shop that rents out his kayaks there., for the price, it's worth doing it! Very reasonable!) Otherwise, it's beautiful! And peaceful. I definitely recommend walking around on a nice day.

Only National Park in DMV area, also nearest to New York City. The trails and Hikes are really amazing, specially in the Fall color. 40 mile long scenic driveway is a must as it covers all the overlooks and changes its look in every season. However compared to the western National parks, this park has less attractions. Gained popularity because of the sole national park nearby. Still there are few breathtaking hikes to go for.

Immaculate! Only spent a couple hours here in the middle of August on a road trip. Staff was extremely friendly and guided me to a trail that would bring a nice viewpoint. It wasn't too difficult and the view was amazing up top! Got there nice and early because the parking lot was very small. By the time I came back the parking lot had cars on the side of the road! Hopefully they enlarge it a bit in the future

Beautiful National Park, absolutely gorgeous! All the Park Rangers were exceedingly nice. Big Meadows campground had everything I needed. The camp store attendant was very friendly and helpful. The washing machine and dryers were reasonable. Showers do cost $2.50 for 5 min. It was enough time to take a shower, I was surprised. Highly recommend! I am definitely going to return.

Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park is simply breath taking. The speed limit is 35 so you have plenty of time to enjoy the views from the mountains and there are tons of turn offs to pull over and take pictures. Be sure to stop at all the gift shops and lodges because they have different things in them.
