(Translated by Google) After the conquest of Granada, the Catholic Monarchs begin a constructive program in the city with which they intend to transform the image of it and its symbols of power, through different civil and religious buildings. Although its foundation dates from 1504, the Royal Hospital is the result of a superposition of styles that reflect the evolution of architecture from the fifteenth to the eighteenth centuries. Since 1971 the building is destined for university purposes, becoming with the arrival of the 1980s the headquarters of the Rector's Office, Central Services and the General University Library. So beautiful and peaceful. There is a museum here, and if you need to study in Granada, the library is perfect. You will need official ID to gain access. Closed in August, despite advertised opening hours on Google.

Beautiful building arranged as a central cross with four courtyards, each with their own style. The building is part of the University but has extensive exhibition space that is free to the public most weekdays. There is a security scanner to pass through to get in but after that you're free to explore.

(Translated by Google) Monument classified as a Cultural Interest Property, finished building by Carlos V in 1525 as a hospital, is currently the headquarters of the Rector of the University of Granada. Undoubtedly another of the buildings to know if you visit Granada If Granada falls in love! This is a stunning place now part of the university of Granada and it retains its original architecture. It is well worth a visit albeit slightly off the tourist track.

Best to read up on the history first as there is no information inside the building. Not only impressive but also very calming, no hordes of tourists on my visit.

Home for the rectorado (president's offices) of the University of Granada, it is a beautiful building open to the public with interesting temporary exhibits. Another wonderful Granada spot.

We visited after finding ourselves close to the building. It is free to get in, but you have to go through a security check. The 4 courtyards were very pleasant and all different. There are also exhibitions in the halls, photos and paintings when we visited. Highly recommended place to visit.

This wonderful old hospital is currently used by the university of Granada UGR as museum. The university collections introduce the Renaissance of the local scientific community in the 19th and the current achievements of the research groups in the fields of biology, astronomy and medical care. It also gives an idea about the Arab Medersa that occupied the same location and is the UGR ancestor

(Translated by Google) It is a very special place, for many reasons, in addition to its extraordinary stonework architecture and Mudejar coffered ceilings. Where before there were screams, agitation and restlessness, today there is tranquility, courtyards with whispering fountains and the smell of fresh myrtle (all this, of course, if we leave university politics aside). Founded in the 16th century as the Royal Hospital of Locos by the Catholic Monarchs, Isabel de Castilla and Fernando de Aragón. San Juan de Dios was imprisoned here when Granada society still did not understand the mission he had in mind. Now you can visit the cage where he was locked up. Here is the headquarters of the Rectorate and on the cruise the most important academic ceremonies are held (opening speeches for the academic year, honorary investiture ...). In the Library, the old collection of the University of Granada stands out, with several incunabula and other bibliographic jewels. It was formed with the library of the Colegio de San Pablo (current law school in the Plaza de la Universidad), as a result of the expulsion of the Jesuits and was increased with the libraries of the Granada convents disentailed in the 19th century. The building is also one of the cultural spaces that the university has in the city. We recommend that you do not miss the excellent temporary exhibitions, and of different themes, that can be enjoyed on the cruise. The University is not only in the classrooms.
