This is an Autograph Collection hotel restored from a convent from 14th century. The courtyard is the best part of the historic building, with wall paintings and religious motifs all around, like a museum! The staffs were very friendly and attentive, and I got a complementary upgrade to Premier Deluxe room located at the oldest section of the convent. The ceiling beams were 6-7 hundreds years old, still with some colorful paints! It might be a low season before Xmas holiday, not many tourists around, so I decided to extend my stay here. It is so convenient only about 10 minutes of walk to the Royal Chapel and the Cathedral of Granada, and about 30-40 minutes of street walk to Alhambra, very centrally located! I parked the car for two days without using it! The breakfast was just OK, not as fancy as that at other resorts. Highly recommended!

We stayed at this hotel for a couple nights only, but definitely will come back if we come to Granada. The location was perfect, everything around is walkable distance. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The interior design was top notch, lots of art on the walls and the building itself was built as a monastery which I thought it was impressive. The best breakfast buffet I have ever tried. Healthy choices, and amazing views.

Best hotel in Granada. Centric but silent, thanks to a limited access street and the fact that it’s located in a convent, a palace and a 16th century house. Every employee in Palacio De Santa Paula is a star and wants each guest to enjoy the experience. Food and beverage is especially excellent: breakfast is outstanding and filled with options. Cocktails and bar food is also worth trying. Ask for rooms in the convent as it’s the most modern side of the hotel. Yes, the rooms could be bigger and bathrooms could use a dedicated shower, but the experience is outstanding.

We just checked in today (June 19, 2022) for a 375+ Euro a night except we were sent to a room in a dungeon right next to the garbage bin area. The room is dark with a strange smell. This hotel is converted from a convent into a hotel. Thus, no matter how hard you try to upgrade/renovate it, those piping and structure could never be retrofitted to a modern hotel unless one is willing to pay big money for such work. They did pay good money for upgrade except they only did a great show and tell for certain key areas, not guest rooms. If you want to have a good hotel, look for a more modern hotel, not a convent conversion. This hotel worth less than one star. Marriott should never associate with this hotel. Marriott, shame on you. A motel could rank higher than this one

What a beautiful hotel! A former convent, the original building has been sympathetically included into a luxury hotel. We were here for a friend's wedding, and while we didn't stay, the place looked amazing. From what we understand, the restaurant is open to non- residents, but suggest you check!! The food we had was just amazing, beautiful, delicate and delicious! Another one on the must-come-back-to list!!

A heritage building, elegant inside with all those beautiful paintaings, murals, vases, chairs, tables and so on…. The front desk people are very welcoming and accommodating. I have a problem booking a train through my phone and decided to go to the front desk to ask for a desktop i can use. The night manager allowed me to use his computer. Thank you sir, I didn’t get your name. My room was perfect the linens are clean and comfortable. Everything was perfect. Breakfast was amazing. Marco who helped us a lot was great, accommodating with all our requests. Thank you Marco! All in all our one night stay was very memorable… so far this is the best AC hotel by Marriot. Thanks to all the staffs for making us feel welcome and at home.

This is definitely can’t be 5 stars hotel. I would say maximum 3 stars hotel. It is overpriced for its poor offerings and cleaning. -flyers in both bathroom and bedroom -one light in room only. it is either all room on or off -poor breakfast -the person in the reception during check in was not polite. staff need to be trained more to treat guests politely and avoid racism.

We stayed here in a family vacation with 4 people. We got 2 rooms and they were lovely, comfortable and spacious. It was wonderful to stay in an historic hotel. Breakfast was incredible. There was a buffet and you could order a hot breakfast as well. The turndown service was a nice touch as well. The people who helped us at the front desk and in the bar and restaurant were very nice. Miguel Ángel helped us with our bags when we arrived and enthusiastically told us all about the hotel. Marco at the restaurant was very helpful as well. We checked out before breakfast started but he got us breakfast to go so we could eat on our train. We were very grateful for that! The front desk also helped us with buying tickets to a flamenco show. The location of the hotel could not be beat. It’s between the Granada Cathedral and St Jerome Monastery. About a 5-10 minute walk to each place.

How can you not love a place this rich in history and beauty (well maybe the price). We’re finishing up a 3 night stay and it’s been a lovely experience. The photos really don’t do the property justice. I wish I had been able to see some of the other room layouts, they are decently sized and full of character. We only ate breakfast in the restaurant, but it’s a nice spread with options for nearly everyone. Staff have been attentive and helpful. Will definitely miss this place.

What is there more to add to this iconic hotel.. everything from accomodation to quality of service is exemplary. This is a must destination when one comes in Granada. I highly recommend staying here, or even just enjoying a nice dinner with live music and Flamenco on a Thursday night.

The hotel is very charming. However, be aware of the steps in the room, which I think the step is due to the building structure, but still if you want to go to bathroom during the middle of the night, you got be careful. It has garage, which is nice. It is not far from the attraction Alhambra, but it is better to get the taxi to there and walk back. By the way, the hotel cleaning uses very strong scent or perfume, which bother us a little bit.

Gorgeous hotel! The grounds, staff, and decor are all very welcoming! The room my wife and I had was very cozy and even had preserved 14th Century Moorish art on the wall and ceiling! It's small, but incredible to be near so much history.

Very nice 5 star hotel in Granada. Part of the Marriott chain of hotels. Fairly accessible hotel for someone who uses a wheelchair. I did not like the fact that the door in the lobby kept getting locked during the day which I used for access to the street when the hotel knew they had a guest who needed to use the ramp. Excellent breakfast buffet however the dinner in the restaurant was not to our liking and we went outside of the hotel instead.

Stunningly beautiful hotel, with an amazing location, great breakfast, and best of all.. an all-star staff! The hotel room was cozy with a super cool view of the central courtyard. Location is very close to all the cool stuff. It didn’t take me long to walk up to the absolutely stunning Alhambra palace. (be sure to get the palace tour well in advance, like weeks out). The staff here has been very helpful, very responsive, with the breakfast and bar staff being absolutely exceptional in their service. The room was not roomy (to be expected for a building of this age), but was just so so cozy, and utterly beautifully refurbished. The noise was quiet which surprised me given its location and age of the building. The hotel sets the mood just right for the beautiful city of Granada. It’s a landmark in of itself with a top staff that should be kept at all costs. Thank you for making my stay a very pleasant one!

The staff have a can-do attitude that makes all the difference. Lovely historic building containing decent modern-enough rooms. The interior courtyard is stunning. The breakfast (per person charge includes buffet as well as ordering from the menu) is well-curated and has great service, but you may consider a bit pricey. Location is very central but not in the worst of the tourist crush.

The reception desk has a very friendly and helpful crew that made reservations for us in some great restaurants. They loaned us umbrellas due to rainy days and printed our documents we needed. A very classy and helpful crew. Especially Carlos.

My expectations were quite dampened in the first 24 hours. The building (Casa Morisco converted to Convent) is beautiful. Reception staff very helpful and friendly. Restaurant and courtyard serving staff a bit lame, emotionless, and not attentive. Room was dark, toilet doors semi open, so you can hear the other person doing his job (toilet, shower, etc), and we could hear the water flowing loudly in the pipes from somebodu showring above us and their loud steps (Isolation issue!). The doors need oiling (squeky). Only one electricty outlet in the whole room. Overall, renovation is needed. While the restaurant talks about a food experience, I think there was no imgination to what they served, both for breakfast and the evening. I am not clear what is meant with 'Autograph Collection', but this hotel, beside being a nice property, is a sub standard hotel in the Marriott chain.

Booked this hotel for a October 2021 trip to Spain. I was denied entry into the country due to covid restrictions. My credit card company and I contacted the hotel several times to try to get refunded for the stay, but the hotel staff refused to refund my almost $1400 4 night stay. The staff members tones were very matter of fact, with no sense on even being sorry that they couldn't do anything about the situation. I read the policy and I was within the no refund window. For special situations like rules that change weekly due to a world wide pandemic, hotels should provide exceptions. The other hotel I booked in Barcelona and Renfe train ride(with a fee) were canceled and refunded with no issue. This is terrible business/customer service. I will never consider staying at this hotel in the future which is a shame because the pictures look like it may have been nice. Shame on you.

Great staff. Beautiful historic monastery and a Arabic house made in to a hotel. A very nice big patio all on a walking distance from everything. We'll if you don't mind walking 2km that is. No 5 stars because 30 euros for parking my car seems a bit high.

The hotel's location is quite convenient, with a 20-minute walk to the Alhambra Palace. The lobby has a very vintage decoration. However, the facilities are rather old. Personally, I prefer newer hotels, but in Granada, there aren't too many options available.

Our best hotel in Spain. A real treat to stay here. A beautiful historic building with all the charm, but modern and very comfortable. An oasis in the city, for real!! They get my highest rating.

Beds were very hard first night, but hotel was able to make them more comfortable for us. Besides that it’s beautiful, clean and Servise is very good. This hotel will be perfect if they can fix the bed situation.

Centrally located in Granada, this hotel offers proximity to historical attractions. The rooms are cozy, and the service is excellent. Once a monastery, the hotel retains beautiful old remnants, creating a breathtaking ambiance in the courtyard and restaurant.

We visited this hotel in beautiful Granada 3 years ago when we got engaged and loved it so much we got married here earlier this year. We can't speak more highly of this hotel! The staff are incredible, they are helpful, friendly and always willing to go the extra mile for guests. The food is exceptional and the wedding team led by Saida are fantastic! The hotel itself is stunning but also very clean. We can't wait to come back!

I think my review of this hotel is clouded a bit by the fact it was a stinking hot day in Granada (at least 44c) and everything felt like an effort. The room was fine, very dark and quite oppressive. It was nice to have breakfast outside in the courtyard. Fine for one night.

This was definitely one of the most beautiful among the three Marriott properties we stayed at. The hotel is a converted monastery and the did an outstanding job assimilating the old with the new. The location is perfect. The rooms are quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed being guests here.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. Every detail is absolutely impeccable. If you appreciate architecture and even the details of the platters food is served on, you will adore Hotel Palacio. The service is top notch and we felt completely taken care of on our honeymoon. The location is also great, so close to cathedral square and wonderful restaurants. Don’t miss out on the restaurant attached to the hotel either, it is so so good!!

Where to start. Maybe my expectations were a little lower because of the pictures and some of the reviews. This place is incredible. The service is great. The employees are genuinely nice and helpful. The restaurant is incredible and the staff will bend over backwards to please you. The food is amazing. The hotel room was super cute. Small but full of character. My entire 3 day, 2 night experience was amazing and I can’t recommend this hotel enough!!! I’m thinking about coming back to Spain in a few months and this is one of the places I will definitely come back to (hint: book flamenco show through them!!!!)

Check-in/front desk/concierge has been really good but I can not say the same thing about the food and beverage service which has not been beyond 2-stars as the waiters generally can not speak proper english to take your order or address your requirements and can even get into verbal arguments with you to proove their point for (having been very busy and so on) which is not an excuse to start with..There are no shoe horns, slippers and coffee capsuls beyond the first check-in day..this is ofcourse not acceptable for a 5-star hotel (which I do not think it is for this particular establisment)..I will not come back to and/or refer this hotel to friends/family..

Great location and service. Only drawback is for those of us from tropical climates, the hotel does not turn on the central AC until late spring, making our stay (sleep) very uncomfortable. Of the 14 nights in Spain (all Marriott properties) Westin, Ritz, W, etc this hotel was the only one without AC.

Charming hotel in a very historic venue. Good service. The rooms were a bit small and cold and felt smaller than pictures. Design suggestion: instead of pinkish/red walls in bedroom why not go with clean white?

Great hotel! Historic rooms with the Marriott comfort you expect. Our room had mudejar arches and a view of the very traditional courtyard. Excellent location within safe walking distance of everything. Helpful staff with valet parking. Fantastic food from room service. Highly recommend.

Though situated on a busy urban street, the hotel well insulated and quiet. It's an easy walk to Centro and there are multiple nice restaurants in all directions. The design was tasteful and took advantage of the beautiful historic structures it contained. It's a solid place to stay for both business and leisure travel. We would definitely return.

A truly beautiful hotel. I'd definitely recommend one of the epic rooms overlooking the stunning courtyard. Excellent restaurant (the local caviar was a revelation), exquisite bar and amazing breakfasts.

To be rated a 5 star hotel, I don't think it's meant by a location based system, it is a worldwide rating system. This hotel is best a 3 to 4 star. Upon late arrival, kids were starving, literally, and there was no room service available. I've traveled all over the world and can't recall any other telling me the kitchen closes at 10pm. The rooms were decent sized and they did change my kids room to another side of the building which offered much more spacious rooms so I guess that is available . Finishing is OK, nothing special Location is good with food stores and shopping stores within 3km radius so your options are vast. The service from staff was really good. Doubt I'd return to this hotel.

We loved this hotel. The staff is super friendly and the service was excellent. The location is great and you should not miss the breakfast! Wonderful setting and great food!

This hotel is in a very central location. It's a beautiful old convent converted into a boutique hotel. Room was spacious, clean and beds were super comfy. My biggest complaint was the configuration of the room. When you walk in, there is straight away a large step down...an ankle twister waiting to happen. Then the very nice bathroom is a larger step down - with no nightlight I almost broke my neck 🫤. We slept the rest of the night with my phone flashlight on in case of a middle of the night visit. Location of the hotel was central to everything. A really nice stay that would be just a bit nicer with some forethought regarding room and safety.

  • 3/5 Stewart F. 2 years ago on Google
I’m mixed on this hotel. Some of the staff were friendly while others were borderline rude. Our windows didn’t stay open which made the room quite hot at night. On the positive side, the courtyard is beautiful.

  • 5/5 Raj S. 2 years ago on Google
Loved this hotel - used to be a convent that they converted into a modern hotel front while still keeping the authenticity of the convent in the back. The breakfast was pretty amazing - a HUGE delicious spread. The outdoor patio and old convent was well kept and pretty. Location was fantastic and the service was great. I could see the Alhambra from my room.
