If you are a climber or outdoors person and looking for others to link up with/need a belayer this is an awesome spot to find them! Hostel is walking distance from MANY crags (including plenty of climbing on the crag in the hostle backyard) with more accessible by car. The hostel has gear available for rent and a WhatsApp group chat where you can coordinate with others. All of the staff/volunteers I interacted with were very friendly and helpful, as were the other guests. This hostel was a perfect little home away from home for climbers and outdoorsy folks.

Just amazing. Was planning to stay just for a couple of days, do the multipitch course, and leaving again.. Ended up staying for two weeks. The place was just so nice. Beautiful area with beautiful climbing crags with grades for all levels. I would 100% recommend doing a climbing course with the owner. He is very passionate about climbing and is a true coach. Whatever course you pick it will make you a better climber. I will be coming back to this place

No wonder why so many people return, located on a beautiful property with amazing views, staff/volunteers are friendly, helpful and welcoming. If you’re a climber this place is second to none but they also have equipment and instructors if you want to learn. This place is definitely worth visiting if your in Spain!

This has to be one of my favorite hostels (if not my favorite) of all time! The owners were extremely accommodating and go beyond their duties to make you feel truly welcome. The property itself is gorgeous with an amazing view of the landscape that really make you feel connected to the area. There is plenty to do, with easy access (by bus) to the lively city of Granada, and the town of Cogollos Vega is only a 5 minute walk from the property. There is a national park roughly a 5 minutes walk from the front door that has bike and hiking trails perfect for all ages. But above all, this is a climbers dream! There are many climbing spots located all around the area and the owners are very knowledgeable about how to get there and the type of climbing (and rest assured, there is something for everyone! Slabs, cracks, big walls, overhang, vertical, etc.) The closest wall is less than a 10 min approach from the house (with over 100 routes!). They even have two beautiful walls that they own in the backyard of the property that they plan on bolting in the future! A perfect place to stay for anyone looking for a fun adventure and love the outdoors.

Miriam, Edu, and the team have created the most awesome little oasis up in the mountains near Granada. Awesome climbing lessons, beautiful hikes, and just total tranquility. Can't recommend it enough if you're looking to get out into nature and disconnect a little (though the wifi is surprisingly good if you need it!). Cogollos itself is a really charming little town, which a few shops, bars, and restaurants, but mostly fits nicely with its peaceful surroundings. Will absolutely be back to climb next year. Thanks again guys.

Wonderfully welcoming environment and staff. The volunteers were super sweet, helpful, and made the experience all the better. This oasis was a tucked in the hills above the city, but also an easy bus ride to town. Got some great climbing, hiking and bunk mate bonding time. Will definitely cherish this experience.

I stayed at Solana De Granada for 5 days. A quiet, relaxing, and happy climbing hostel in the hills of Granada. It is ran by a group of volunteers who also live on the property, they are the nicest people, all so easy going and willing to help in any way possible. They also all love to climb! I’d never climbed before, however I tried out Bouldering with such a nice dude named Adrian (everybody calls him Bambi) and the experience was so fun! I recommend trying it out too and also I totally recommend the Hostel. I will be returning.

After traveling all day to the hostel, I come to find there is no one to check me in, which is totally fine and normal. I waited and responded to the worker over email “Dan” saying that I have arrived, and he responded saying he’ll be down in 15 minutes to check me in. I waited 45-50 minutes to be checked in only for him to email me to move all my stuff into a room and he’ll check me in later. When I walked in the room there was stuff everywhere and clearly someone had been there awhile. I waited outside with my things for another 30 minutes wondering if Dan was coming back anytime soon. I emailed him and THEN he tells me that they’re closed for check in from 2pm-5pm and “I think I’ll be back at 5:30pm.” I arrived at the hostel at 2:45pm. I checked on Hostel World and it says check in is from 10am-8pm and to notify someone if you’re arriving before or after those times. So either Dan was lying or the information needs to be updated on the website. I can’t say much about the hostel itself, but I’m sure it’s nice place and it is a beautiful location with mountains. But it’s highly inappropriate to make a guest wait over an hour and a half to then be told it’s closed for check in because you’re to busy rock climbing. Needless to say, I left the hostel without checking in and it was a waste of my day. Got some cool pictures tho.

+The location and the place are nice +Nice place to meet people - the first time I came here there is volunteer called. A. Complaining about the working pressure. -she's very rude to another new volunteer. She let him do the work and asks me a few time for sigarettes with an explanation that she wants to give them back in the afternoon. After she bought her sigarettes she never said anything again. - food and wine got stolen in this hostel. - I started talking with the volunteer U. About this. I told him I will come back and I will put my thoughts in a review is this loop of misunderstandings is still going on. So I came back after two weeks and this hostel is a mess. Dirty everywhere. Kitchens, shower were all dirty. It could be a better place if things were well organized. Seems that volunteers are not happy and quite stressed. So in the end this place has a problem in the communication and the results are a loop of misunderstandings.

Clean, fun, easy going, and relaxing. Great security, lockers, nice mattresses, good kitchen, SO clean, and so many activities to do. I wish there were more group activities, however, the staff is so welcoming that it is easy to find stuff to do. Highly recommend.

If you are the kind of person looking for a adventure you've come at the right place. The drive up to the hostel is quite steap so our 1.4 opel combo engine was put to the test but no stress; you will be fine. Once there, we where heartly welcomed by one of the volunteers. The vibe of the hostel felt really homely. Kitchen & showers and stuff were clean but thats not why you want to be there: The garden of the hostel is a crazy playground of mountains that provide hikes, slacklines, boulders and climbing. To top it of the owners Edu & Miriam will provide you with any climbing gear and will give lessons and courses. We have met a lot of nice people with whom we joined ropes and belays. If you are interested in climbing, from beginner to experienced, in any way this is the place you need to go. The amount of experience Edu has in combination with the homely vibe makes this the perfect basecamp for your climbs. We are definitely coming back to send those 7a+ routes (just a little bit more training) and have some beers. Much love from Daan & Loes and dont forget; no top!

Came for a few nights, ended up extending and even returning a couple of weeks later. Such a lovely place. It immediately felt like home, with a great bunch of people (both guests and staff), beautiful surroundings, and fantastic climbing + hiking. Could not recommend this place enough!

Beautiful hostel away from bigger cities with amazing hiking, bouldering and climbing opportunities. Why not a higher grade? This is because, the volunteers of the hostel are not unfriendly, but simply not open to socialize with guests. The ratio guests/volunteers when I stayed at Solana was around 50/50. The volunteers are in a group the whole time and not really interacting or involving the guests. It made me feel like I was invading a house where a group of friends lived. This is a shame because the hostel is at an amazing spot with so many possible activities.

Heavenly is a understatement, it is very basic and simple no tvs and it's more of a community people sharing food cooking together sharing story's and being loving and compassion everywhere, If you are looking for a party holiday this isn't the places for you, if you are into nature and walking about in your bare feet and tapping into your inner child this is the place for you!!! Its like never never land and we are the lost boys and girls so chilled and relaxed there are lots of little spots to sit on your own and also the common spaces, landscape is amazing climbing unreal and hiking breath taking, the staff are so beautiful and helpful and are always ready to answer questions and help out

This is an excellent place to stay and a wonderful base for many climbing adventures! There are beautiful crags within walking distance as well as some nice hikes. There are also a lot of other climbing spots that make for good day trips if you have a car. It is homie, exceptionally clean and the owners are very friendly. I ended up staying here on three different occasions during my 6 weeks in Spain because I liked it so much!

I went to the solana de granada hostel as a workaway and they were really nice. As soon as I arrived, I felt at home. The bed are really comfortable and we cook together in the night. The fact that the hostel is not too big is good for really get to know people. This place is really the dream if you like nature and climb, you can already climb at the bottom of the garden! And there are so many nice hikesthat you can do... And further more, if you want to enjoy the city a bit, there is a bus quite regularly, very cheap which bring you to granada and there is another one to come back around 11pm and that's perfect! So I really recommend this place! Thank you Miri and Edu for the lovely time I had with you ❤ I will come back

What can I say more than my great roomy Onno(the guy who just leave a review). 6 stars definitly, the best hostel I have never been. Nature, relaxing, walks, hikes, friendly small village, le bonheur en fait. Thank you Myriam, Edu, Martina, Elly to make us feel at home. When you arrive, just make sure you book extra nights straight away, because everyone wants to stay😊. Take it easy, share and it will be fine. This hostel has an exceptional soul. We have been there as a couple, we love each other even more than before. Muchas gracias por todo, grande vida, Suerte. Klaudia y Victor. PS Onno, you snore more than me actually 😂
