Gecko’s
is
an
Americana
sports
bar
with
two
locations
in
Albuquerque,
located
in
Nob
Hill
and
the
NE
Heights
(called
“Gecko’s
Academy”).
The
Academy
location
has
booth
seating,
as
well
as
high
tops,
tables,
and
at
the
bar.
There’s
also
a
patio
at
the
front
of
the
restaurant
facing
Academy.
There
are
lots
of
TVs
above
the
bar
with
varied
sports
playing.
The
menu
wasn’t
very
extensive
and
focused
on
fried
foods
and
sandwiches,
as
most
bars
do.
The
soups
du
jour
were
a
pozole
and
then
a
green
chile
stew.
We
ordered
the
green
chile
cheese
fries
as
an
appetizer.
They
weren’t
hot
spice-level
wise,
but
had
a
nice
flavor
with
the
cream
sauce
and
green
chile
without
being
a
salt
bomb.
We
both
ordered
a
BLT
sandwich.
The
BLT
comes
with
an
additional
slice
of
toast
in
the
middle
of
the
sandwich,
which
made
it
hard
to
eat
because
it
made
the
sandwich
so
thick,
so
I
removed
it.
We
both
agreed
the
BLT
was
quite
dry
between
the
toasted
bread
and
the
extra-crispy
bacon.
If
I
were
to
get
it
again,
I’d
ask
for
the
extra
bread
to
be
removed,
extra
mayo,
and
the
bacon
not
as
crispy.
Unfortunately
I
didn’t
try
the
fries
that
came
with
the
meal
because
I
had
filled
up
on
the
appetizer.
The
service
was
friendly.
If
you’re
looking
for
a
chill
Americana
sports
bar,
this
might
fit
the
bill
if
you
aren’t
looking
for
a
varied
menu
or
exceptional
cuisine.
