Very disappointed. From the website and photos online, we had great expectations, but we were incredibly disappointed. The "art" was like really bad graffiti. We loved the idea of local artists creating unique and beautiful art inspired rooms and wanted to support a unique local venue. Unfortunately, it fell very short. On top of that, the rooms were noisy and there was a distinct smell of weed throughout the night. You could hear traffic outside very loudly along with the sliding of other room patio doors making enjoying a comfortable night's rest difficult, if not improbable. Definitely will not be staying here again. Edited to add - Nativo responded quickly to our experience and has stepped up to make it right for us. I appreciate their prompt and meaningful response and would entertain giving them another chance in the future should we find ourselves in Albuquerque again. The staff we encountered and the Management's response give us hope that the potential and purpose of this unique hotel can be improved upon for future stays. The fact that they care speaks volumes.

My fiancƩ and had an amazing stay at Nativo! We had issues getting into our new home and they accommodated us with all our needs as we extended our stay many times. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Management sent a bottle of wine up to our room knowing I was spending my birthday in the hotel and it was such a thoughtful gesture. The hotel has a beautiful lobby and a great selection of snacks and drinks. Rooms are beautiful and very clean, the art done from local artists really draw you in to learning about the history and their stories. Thank you Nativo!

***Caution*** Raving review ahead. Stopped in Albuquerque late into the night. I was looking for a place to stay and remembered I had stayed here before. So I booked a room. When I arrived the staff was great and it was a speedy check in. Sonya facilitated all of our needs and was an excellent front desk clerk/host. We stayed in an artists room that was beautifully decorated and the mural on the wall by Tammy Garcia was an elegant, and classy touch. They gave us a complimentary late check out that was a blessing because we had gotten in so late. The room was comfortable and roomy. Plenty of parking and great atmosphere. I highly recommend if you are ever in town, stay here!

Loved the artistic nature of this spot! Our room had beautiful artwork on the walls. The room was fairly large with a nice balcony. Coffee and snacks were appreciated! That said, the hotel seems a bit dated, especially the restroom and shower. My shower handle was broken so taking a shower and adjusting the temperature was a challenge. Staff were exceedingly friendly! The free beer when you check in was a welcome treat after being on the road for 15 hours. Iā€™d stay here again.

Beautiful setting, interior is just as impressive. Stocked bar and open sitting area and an upstairs sitting area. Very clean inside and out! Most rooms have a balcony, very nice! Spacious rooms, no odors, comfortable bed, big desk and multimedia strip. Highly recommended place to stay, reserve before hand and get a great deal! Staff are very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be coming back to this hotel.

Staff: 5/5 Staff were wonderful, competent & friendly which can't be easy given the disrepair. Upkeep: 1/5 The hotel maintenance & housekeeping indicates long term neglect.. The room was older & popcorn ceiling has bare spots. The tub was PEALING & the makeshift repairs aren't even up to motel 6 standards. Cleaning: 1/5 There were hairs on the chest of drawers & bathtub that weren't mine. Neither was the shoe print. No conditioner or shower gel. (front desk sent someone to the fourth floor to get some.) During check-in I heard there was only 1 room available so I knew the staff couldn't move me to another room. Not worth $120.

Great Hotel! Colin was awesome and very helpful throughout our 6 night stay. His customer service was top notch. Building is older and fire alarms went off twice because ā€œthey are olderā€. Twice they were quickly turned off. You couldnā€™t tell the age though because of their high upkeep on grounds and common areas. Rooms were beautiful and clean. The patios are a plus! Great hotel highly recommended.

Overall a very displeasing stay for paying $315 for only two nights. The room itself was cold and drafty from a crack in the AC vent installed in the wall, the TV had a grainy screen no matter what channel, towels are small, the pool towels were bigger, and on top of everything they definitely donā€™t follow Covid regulations. There was a family swimming for the two nights I stayed throwing a huge party, with over 10 kids in the jacuzzi and at least 10 more inside the pool and adults drinking on the side. I complained to the front desk and they informed me they were unaware. What kind of hotel is unaware thereā€™s a whole family pool party going on? Iā€™m from out of town and was really excited to relax in the jacuzzi and have some quiet time and wasnā€™t able to. It also seemed every time I went to the front desk the employee was too busy to assist me and wouldnā€™t appear for a few minutes. Bar wasnā€™t open so I couldnā€™t even drink instead of swim. Donā€™t waste your money here if youā€™re looking for a getaway for yourself. Not worth a penny I spent.

Steve was absolutely the best person I've dealt with at any hotel, and I've been in at least 50 so far this year alone. This place is unique! Art surrounds you here. The lobby is also inspiring with its Lodge theme that seems to vanish once you enter your individually customized room. The bed was so comfortable I didn't want to leave right away, same for the huge pillows. The room was 20'x20'!!! Nowhere else will you get a room this size for prices comparable around town. Pool was closed during my stay but it too is unique and flows from inside to outside. They do have a restaurant that seemed a bit unutilized but the bar was pretty busy. Restaurants and all other local stores are almost within walking distance if you have other needs or desires. Definitely worth a booking!

It's better than just ok, and it's in a good location close to almost everything. Some staff are nice and friendly and some not so much. The best thing is the atmosphere and you do get peace and quiet. Rooms are not luxurious or anything like that but have the amenities you may need.. when I was there, I noticed stragglers walking in parking lot and one was mad at the world, yelling obscenities, so be aware of your surroundings

The soap and shampoo was completely empty. I saw that they had containers in the shower so I didn't take any in the shower..... They were bone dry. Second the rooms are VERY SMALL. THIRD. The carpet is filthy dirty the girls walked around in there socks and they were Just gross black all on the bottom..... THE STAFF IS AWESOME THEY WERE GREAT. The gentleman at front desk was SUPER NICE. Everyone I dealt with was very nice. Just beds weren't very comfortable either pretty hard beds. OH YES ONLY 1 ICE MACHINE ON THE END OF THE 3RD FLOOR... kinda strange.

Passable, but barely. Location is decent and easy to get to, but you'll be subject to the highway noise all night unless you pony up for a room facing the other side of the hotel. Soap's really cheap and dries your skin out badly, so bring lots of lotion. Some rooms have really cool art from the pictures, mine didn't have any of that. No breakfast served. There may be some unsavory characters lurking about. Some stranger attempted to get my wife to pull out her phone, assumed attempt at robbery, right outside the front door. Could do more in the way of security.

Like all the other reviews that have been posted: Pros: location and friendliness of staff Cons: the carpets and curtains in the room are dirty. The whole hotel is very dark probably to hide the much needed deep cleaning. They charge a $20/night fee for amenities, which at a higher end resort I don't mind paying but this is not that. I stopped at the desk on the way out in the morning to ask the broken hairdryer be replaced, and the empty body wash be filled. When we returned at 3 pm the room had not be serviced and when we asked about the hairdryer and body wash we were told housekeeping was gone for the day so, I'm not sure what the $20/day was for. They did promptly bring up fresh (although exfoliating in nature) towels and a hair dryer but took some time locating body wash. We have family close to this hotel and it's a shame it's not better taken care of.

We have now stayed here 3 times on trips to and from Utah. The front desk is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean. The only complaint is the towels. They are extremely rough, but bonus on the extra exfoliation, lol We have added two more stays, and the customer service is phenomenal! We request a specific room due to carrying medical equipment with us, and the staff is more than happy to oblige. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Still have the rough towels, but not a big deal there.

This place was great šŸ˜Š passing through ABQ and needed a quiet place off the highway. Great location, loved the theme; EVERYONE on staff that I interacted with was super helpful, smiled, and personable. Room was very clean, bed was comfortable. I couldnā€™t be happier with my stay here.

I'm actually a review person but my mother in law booked this hotel for Thanksgiving and I didn't read the reviews until I was already staying there or i probably wouldve told her to stay somewhere else....with that said.... Reviews can be deceiving I realized because this place was absolutely amazing! All staff, but especially Emily and Charlie were such an absolute welcoming pleasure throughout and wonderful to get to know. Location is great because everything is right there, the rooms were clean, pet friendly and quite. The bar was an awesome convince, and the hot tub even better. Everyone took great care of us the whole stay. Already booking again for xmas!

Travel nurses choose to give up their life and family to serve where they are desperately needed. I chose this hotel because I stayed there previously and totally enjoyed my stay. At the time there was a restaurant in the hotel which was super convenient. Currently there is no restaurant but I was told that a restaurant will be opening in the hotel soon. I chose this hotel because I love the balconies and I love the artwork on the walls in the rooms as well as throughout the hotel. I also love to explore different cultures. I'm a travel nurse working in Santa Fe and decided to stay in Albuquerque because again I love this hotel and the rates for a decent hotel are cheaper in Albuquerque than Santa Fe. I was at this hotel for a month while fullfilling an employment contract. The cost of a 1-month stay was a little more than I ordinarily would spend on a hotel while working, but it was my birthday month and I decided to treat myself. All in all it wasn't a bad stay. The front desk staff offers excellent customer service, although they are part of the reason that I decided to write this review. Upon checking out, I found out that there is a $20 per night amenities fee when you book through a third party which I did in an effort to get cheaper rates for a long-term stay as the hotel does not offer discounted long-term rates that would have been beneficial to my stay. I called customer service to ask about this and was quoted $135 plus tax a night X 30 nights is a lot of money. I was completely disappointed to find out about the $20 a night amenities fee for amenities that I did not participate in as I was there for work. I did not go to the pool and there is no fitness center at the hotel. I didn't have any complimentary drinks except for a glass of wine on the first night which was warm. I had to request housekeeping and sometimes change my own sheets and vacuumed my own room. Which I don't mind doing but had I known that there was a $20 a night fee, I definitely would have allowed the staff to do their job. If I had known about the $20 a night amenities fee I would have just stayed in Santa Fe as I did not save that much money considering meals and gas for travel back and forth between Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Very disappointed. Probably will not return. Definitely puts a damper on my stay in New Mexico...the enchanted state.

There are definitely cool things about the hotel. The attention to art is fantastic. The outdoor/indoor pool is a hit with the kids. This is a good family hotel, but lacks in comfortable amenities like a new bed, pillows, clean carpeting, updated wallpaper, etc. Not a place you want to sleep many nights, but the one complementary beer could soothe things over for the right adult. The AC was lacking. Super sweet employees and cool art.

We loved our stay here. All the staff members are friendly and helpful and just cool to chat with. We loved the pool and hot tub, the shower water pressure was strong, the bed amazingly comfortable. Fun to stay at an independent hotel filled with artwork and a funky vibe. Plan to stay here again at the end of our NM sojourn.

Customer service was great. I would like to thank Bella for her help with checking in. She was polite, courteous, very attentive and helpful with my daughter. Has a great attitude and personality. Had a great stay. Quiet and relaxing . Will recommend to family and friends.

Loved my stay there. Bella at the front desk was incredibly friendly! The kids enjoyed the pool and the adults had great drinks at the bar! Our artist room was perfectly suited for my artist daughter who loved the clouds and kitties. Excited to stay there again!

We were there Monday through Friday. Not once was our room cleaned!! I had to ask for a trash bag at the front desk so I could clear the trash cans. I took our towels to the house keeping room so I could get fresh towels on day 3. What was the most irritating is there was a $20./day "Resort" fee that is not mentioned on their website. The lounge is only open Thursday to Saturday. Restaurant not at all. This was the fourth or fifth time we have stayed here. This trip will absolutely be the last!!

Bella made our stay there so delightful! She was our first contact in Albuquerque after driving from Tucson. She welcomed us and explained the background of the hotel. I was blown away how kind she was and her colleagues. When we left to go back home to Chicago, staff offered to make a to go coffee for us. So kind! I look forward to going back and my stay there inspired me to write to NM Tourism Dept on how great Nativo was and all the places we visited in NM.

Every time a guest comes into town for either Dance Theatre Southwest or Festival Ballet Albuquerque, I ALWAYS reserve their stay at Nativo Lodge. Besides being close to our studio, it never ever fails that our guest is duly impressed with the facilities, the beautiful decor, the honoring of our southwestern Indigenous culture, the kindness of the staff, and the overall atmosphere. Thank you to Heritage Hotels and Resorts for creating such a unique and special experience for all our out of town guests. Many have stayed the world over, and felt their experience at Nativo Lodge rated very high in comparison to the many hotels the have visited throughout their travels. Donā€™t miss this unique, boutique, and very affordable hotel if you are traveling through Albuquerque. You wonā€™t be disappointed!

Built in 1985 - the men's room off the lobby looks original - quite shabby. The lobby itself is beautiful. Beds comfortable and room spacious but some furniture was grimy. TV did not work. Front desk staff very friendly - however somewhat incompetent. We had booked for 2 nights and plans changed so, on the second day we confirmed with the front desk (twice) that if we checked out shortly, we would not be charged for the second night. We were subsequently charged for both nights. The next day, 2 phone calls lasting a total of 30 minutes were required to get it resolved.

Front desk staff were fantastic. So friendly. The free beverage per night was a nice touch. No breakfast but good coffee. The room is okay, the heater/ac is pretty loud (I turned it off to sleep). My biggest complaint is that the door that separates the next room was so thin that I could hear word-for-word conversation from the next room while I was trying to sleep. These people werenā€™t even talking loudly either, it was remarkable how well I could hear them. Best part was check out at noon which meant I could take a nap after balloon fiesta before leaving!

  • 5/5 Kristen F. 1 year ago on Google
Everyone we encountered at the Nativo was helpful and kind. I loved the lobby area, so beautiful. And the exterior of the building is amazing as well. We had a great meal at wowza burger and enjoyed some beers at the bar in the lobby. We had a great stay and would recommend the place for anyone looking for a lovely and unique hotel!

The room was clean and amazing!! They always have been!! Stayed here multiple times and always have an amazing stay! I even had a little misunderstanding one time and the manage Lucas Roach made sure to make everything right x100!! Great customer service. The murals in the rooms are breathtaking!! Balconies in every room is also a plus!!

The only nice part of our stay was the staff! They were very nice and welcoming. Everything else was terrible. We figured a presidential suite would be the best and I was thoroughly disappointed. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. The room was had was towards the front of the hotel and it sounded like you were in a factory all night. We hardly slept with all of the noise. The hotel ran out of pillows so we were given a comforter to use as a pillow for my daughter. When I pulled out the couch pull out bed a chunk of old food or candy fell out. The floors were dirty. The shower backed up and took forever to drain. The entire hotel was booked due to several events in town or I would have requested a room change. The kitchen in our room had no utensils. No pots pans anything. Iā€™m not sure how one is supposed to use the kitchen without anything to cook with. The chair in the living room is either broken or so old that it has no seat padding left. Overall this has been a huge disappointment and I would not stay here again.

Great communication via text. Absolutely loved that! Responded in a timely manner. Very Convenient. The front desk personnel morning and evening shift were very friendly, accommodating and welcoming. The Hotel is very clean throughout. The rooms were nice and the beds were comfy. Location is right off the freeway, making access to travel easier.

PROS: Friendly staff at check-in desk. Rooms were nice and clean. Beds were comfy. Beautiful lobby and rooms. CONS: No microwaves in the rooms. Front rooms were a bit noisy from the freeway traffic. Amenity fee of $20 charged after check out that I was not aware off.

I stayed 2 nights and it was ok. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Room was ample and they made up the bed for me while I was out. But it is a little dated and it shows, my balcony door didnā€™t lock, air conditioning is a loud monster in the corner, carpets can you a good shampooing in and out. But the bed was large and comfy

  • 5/5 Ben B. 1 year ago on Google
I love this place, won't stay anywhere else when I'm in abq unless they're booked up. The hotel has great style without being pretentious, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. I had two different rooms because I decided to stay another night last minute, and they were both clean and comfy. It's not super modern, but the basics are covered. If you're kind of picky or looking for an upscale experience, you might not be stoked, but I found it really comfortable for a 3-day stay. If you judge your hotels by the water pressure, these shower heads are like fire hoses - that's no prob :)

  • 5/5 Tomas D. 1 year ago on Google
Even though my family decided on this hotel while road-tripping basically on a whim, it was a lovely experience. Wonderful decor and ambience, if you want a place that feels like it couldn't exist anywhere else this is it. Didn't get to try the pool, sadly. Friendly and attentive staff at all hours. Big shout-out to the wonderful Alfie, who helped my family navigate moving rooms mid-stay with poise and professionalism, and has a wonderful presence while manning the front desk.

Really enjoyed our stay here! We were here for 3 nights and the staff was so helpful and friendly. I loved the aesthetic appeal! The artwork and atmosphere are really unique and fun.The rooms were very clean and we enjoyed our balcony and the complementary drink! It may be an older building but they keep it clean and well maintained. We didnā€™t get a chance to use the pool but we will next time.
