Passed by this restaurant multiple times however, I am a carnivore and figured I would not enjoy the food they served. I was spending the afternoon with my friend, who is a vegetarian and decided to try this restaurant. I honestly did not know what to order and she had never been here either, but as we looked at the menu and read the descriptions we decided what the heck let's just try a few things and we will share everything so we can taste the different dishes. I ordered the Samosa & the falafel wrapped in Dosa w/Masala fries. These dishes were accompanied with the following sauces: Chipotle, cilantro lime and date chutney. She ordered the South Indian Sampler w/ coconut chutney and a bowl of Dal. Why it was brought to the table it look really good, and I'd have to say that after trying everything, we really enjoyed our meals. Everything was so good and I didn't miss my meat. Of course I won't give my meat up, but I'd have to say that I would eat here again. It was a nice change of pace. I would also recommend giving this place a try. Worker was very helpful with recommendations and great personality. The Masala fries w/ the Chipotle sauce were so good...give these a try. If you read my review, please hit the like button. Thank you and enjoy!

Try the masala Chai with Oatmilk. I loved my pad Thai! This place has a fabulous aesthetic that you must see and experience in person. Very friendly quick service too.

This place was absolutely perfect. The food was delicious and made to perfection. I have literally no complaints what so ever. Oh and let me not forget the tea. Get the agave sweetener

The worst dosa I've ever eaten!! 1. The dosa was thicker than a pancake 2. The masala was rolled up in it like a burrito 3. When I unrolled the "burrito" I found half the masala inside to be burnt. 4. The sambar was gluggy and absolutely tasteless 5. The "Coconut chutney"...did it even have coconut in it? It literally tasted like water I really wish I had asked for a refund.

A unique experience. The aesthetic interior, the murals, and the food have the soul of Indian flavors yet very different dishes on the menu. This is one of the very few innovative places I’ve ever seen. We got the South Indian sampler, thali, and the famous Kitchari. The food is humble, fresh, minimal, no salt(the only salt you taste is from the fresh veggies). The food shows how deep and rooted, essential, healthy Indian food is!

Get the Bombay Frankie with Dosa and let your mind explode. This place is definitely unique, generally healthy menu. I’ll be making multiple trips to test out their menu. Pictured Below is their Mediterranean Plate.

My family and I ate at Annapurna's Cafe, and the experience left us wishing we lived closer. Our food was beautifully presented, delicious and flavorful. The chai was wonderful with a choice of non-dairy or dairy milk-- we tried both. The ambiance was warm and inviting with plants throughout, scarfs hung from the ceilings, art, and colorfully painted walls. Though we were full we had to at least try a cookie on our way out, but honestly, I wished I had ordered something more for later. I look forward to eating here again.

I wish Google had an option of negative rating, because that’s what this restaurant aptly deserves. Had a lot of expectations from this restaurant, but we were totally disappointed. The food is absolutely disgusting, unimpressive and tasteless. If you call yourself WORLD and NOT INDIAN, please scrap all the names of Indian dishes from your menu and change the murals and the ‘so called’ ambiance. Repaint your walls from pictures of Hindu Deities to something YOU CALL appropriate. This restaurant is totally misleading on the concept of Ayurveda and Indian tradition/ cuisine. I would never ever visit this restaurant ever again.

This place is our favorite to stop at on road trips. So delicious, so many vegan options, even a vegan mango lassi. My favorites here are the quinoa salad, cauliflower tacos, tofu veggie scramble, black orange mint tea, and pistachio cupcake! Service at this particular location is faster than others too, and very friendly!

Visiting here with my bff. I liked my pad Thai - very different from others I've had. It was incredibly spicy though and not enough water was provided. No water on the tables so I needed to go back up the counter and have them come out to give more water. They forgot about the tea I ordered and I didn't get it until I was leaving. Also my friend ordered the "avocado" veggie bacon, lettuce, tomato wrap and when the wrap got delivered to the table the staff said they didn't have avocado ... Is that okay? My friend said well I guess it's already made..... 🧐 Food was good. Could have been a better experience though.

Annapurna’s World Vegetarian Cafe has been serving simple, healthy food for more than 20 years. Every time I come to Albuquerque, I make sure to pay a visit. Whether you be vegetarian or vegan, it is impossible to starve here. And if you are carnivore, you will surely find plenty to your liking. On my recent visit with a buddy of mine, I ordered the South Indian Sampler, while he went with the house-made veggie burger. My plate included a masala dosa, a couple of vadais, and a cup of sambhar. A delicious coconut chutney was included for dipping or spreading, and man was it all good. While south Indian dishes are generally much spicier than what one finds in the north of India, all of my items were very mild in flavor and demeanor. My friend’s veggie burger was equally top-shelf, a far cry better than the frozen and boxed hockey pucks we find in groceries and at chain restaurants. It was made of lentils, black beans, veggies, and spices, and is completely vegan. It all comes tucked into a gluten-free bun, and with the usual accompanying items, like tomatoes and lettuce. A huge serving of fries proved impossible to finish, even after he gladly shared a copious amount with me. Annapurna is the Hindu goddess of nourishment, and her namesake restaurant does just that in a very nutritious way, and in a very understated and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant appeared as background in S3Ep11 of Breaking Bad, after Jesse, Skinny Pete, and Badger attend a 12-step meeting at the church across the street, so you may just recognize it. Now get to it. No regrets here.

Delicious food, generous portions, very clean ingredients. I was spoiled for choice, even though I have a pretty restricted diet. GF, vegan, sugar-free options abound.

I had the falafel wrap and the Annapurna tea(ginger). The wrap was amazing. Really great quality. The ginger tea is a slice of fresh ginger brewing in hot water. Usually fresh ginger tea is made by boiling the fresh ginger for 30 minutes. I expected a rich ginger taste but I think they just gave me a pot of hot water with a slice of ginger. It was ok~ very mild, not anything special, certainly not worth $5.

Ok....long review here.....Looking for a vegan or vegetarian place we choose this location at Annapurna World Vegetarian Cafe on Yale/Silver for the variety of choices. Knowing the Balloon Fiesta was in town, a little surprised they were understaffed. Orders were not completed, was missing our coffee & cappuccino. They did end up bringing it to us though. I ordered the portabella mushroom burger with masala fries and garlic dipping sauce. My mates ordered breakfast burrito (with an extra 😮 surprise?) & ABLT & ginger carrot soup (which was the soup of the day). Let's start with the mushroom burger. Did they decide 🤔 to use a Baby Bella instead of portabella? If you look at pics you can see how SMALL that portabella really is! I took 1st bite and the bread started to break into three parts, no mushroom. I held tightly to what was left of the buns falling apart and took 4 more bites of nothing but bread and spinach. I literally ate half the burger BREAD before I got to the mushroom! Masala fries and garlic sauce nothing to write about, was fine. If the mushroom is THAT small they should've used TWO mushrooms! I KNOW they shrink, but for the price you pay you need a bigger mushroom and definitely a better bun! Ok now the breakfast burrito, was not bad, but a little underseasoned from a local NON-Vegetarian NM resident! Unfortunately, my mate must've 😕 bit the wrong way or had a surprise bite, but actually broke a filling off his tooth! So the price for his meal just quadrupled! And lastly, the ABLT was not only good portion for the price but for a vegetarian meal was not only good, but filling. Plus, having the soup was a bonus to the meal, it was just good.

A sign of the times. The least engaging employees ever encountered. It is so sad to see the level of acceptable service at this once amazing university location. For years this spot was full of vibrant, smiling and engaging employees. Now the kids just sit and wait to be talked at...the lack of communication is so disappointing. I will never return. I hope the owners read this and know it's not just the university location. Last week we walked away from the sawmill location after having a one way staring competition with employees while they were both on their phones facing each other. I actually called them over to inform them we were not going to order....the kid asked oh we thought you were still looking at the menu......train your darn staff.....oh and your amazing lentil soup should be available daily......I'm sad. May come back in 6months........shame on your staff. Oh and 1 refill for the tea would be nice....

The BLT was a bit dry and could have used more of some sort of sauce or flavor, but was pretty good! I was rather disappointed by the $7 seasonal smoothie I bought which tasted like absolutely nothing. Maybe the fruit was freezer burnt or something but the smoothie tasted like water rather than any of the four delicious sounding fruits inside of it. The interior of this place is nice and the murals on the outside are lovely.

We loved the food here. The atmosphere is really nice and the energy is very peaceful. There is artwork on the outside of the building that is really beautiful. All the food we ordered was fresh and made with care. It was pretty hot inside to be honest but they have a nice sitting area outside that was pleasant. The Ginger Lemon tea was quite refreshing. They use paper straws. It was a little pricey for me but worth it. Not an everyday go to but definitely would eat here again. 👍🏽👍🏽

We LOVED our food and experience. The host was very helpful and explained the food and options when I had a question. Food was delicious. Latte was great and the ginger lemon drink was AMAZING. Mediterranean sampler and Indian Sampler with two different types of breads. We had the garlic sauce and cilantro sauce. Very tasty! We will be back. Thank you

The food here was exceptional: the mumbai khatti was probably my favorite with it's spices and the texture of the chapati. The kitchari was incredible and authentic, though not too salty (which is fine). The masala fries with the garlic sauce and cilantro sauces were also very good - though came in very large portions so be hungry if you come. Lastly, the hot chai was excellent. I make my own chai and have to say this was even better. It was very soft and had hints of spice, but tasted very much like authentic chai. To the reviews that complained about service being poor, I will say that service being an issue was not the case when we came - but could see that being an issue if there were more patrons. However, shortstaffing is a nationwide problem for restaurants.

This place has a nice atmosphere. It’s way too hot inside, but that’s fault with the building design and not the staff. Staff were nice and helpful while ordering. We didn’t feel rushed which was nice. The food was very good. We got the thali and the stir fry. The stir fry was a little more oily than we would have liked, but it wasn’t overwhelming, and still tasted great with a good portion size and amount of veg in it. Overall a great place to eat and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a healthier alternative to even other plant-based options without cooking for themselves. Great place to go during travels.

Had a good meal and a take out for next day's lunch. The place is clean and staff is friendly. Good choice in Albuquerque. But I didn't like people smoking weed in and around their outdoor seating area. Although that not restaurant's problem, it is a problem with Albuquerque, even NM in general.

The food was SO GOOD we had lunch and went back for dinner. The menu has such a wide range of vegan deliciousness, from traditional South Indian to tacos and burgers. Their pies are AMAZING.

Excellent vegan/vegetarian food! Wonderful vibe! Yogi bowl, vegan penne pasta, authentic chai (oat milk), cappuccino (oat milk) were perfect and extremely healthy. Thank you very much for the amazing food and service :)

Food was excellent, hot and fresh and felt very nourishing especially on a rainy day. Friendly service and care was taken to package my food. I would have loved to stay and eat but was very cold inside and I was ready to book it out of there just from waiting for my food, which was ready in a very reasonable amount of time. I'll definitely be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious healthy meal we had, and we’re grateful for the speedy and high quality service as well. The atmosphere was only slightly lacking due to a drastic difference in music from the theme of the restaurant… it would have been nice to listen to relaxing Indian-style music as opposed to pop. Overall, it was a good experience and we may go back someday if we’re ever in town again.

This place has so much potential so it makes me sad to go and be disappointed. The menu in theory looks amazing. It has definitely gone downhill over the years, and I sincerely hope they can get better management/organization/employees or whatever it takes to save them. I know the owner often posts defensive replies to reviews criticizing their restaurant, but maybe if they were more open to constructive criticism they can improve. Visited the location on Silver, waited several minutes for counter person to come back to take our order, waited about 45 minutes for food, forgot the side sauce she upcharged me for, and sadly the food (South Sampler) was very bland and subpar. Also, the table we sat at had crumbs and spills from prior customers as it had not been wiped. If management makes huge changes in food quality (and consistency, as I have ordered good things in the past) flavor, service and cleanliness, I’d love to come back and enjoy the potential this place has.
