Where have I been all my life?! I discovered this place after seeing an "A frame" sign on Osuna Rd. saying "coffee bar inside". I stepped inside and fell in love. All these bags of coffee and the glorious smell. Super cool coffee and tea products! And then I ordered an iced Americano 🤯. Super delicious and refreshing. The shots were pulled to perfection. The roast was spectacular (3700 blend). I ordered some Brazil and Honduras whole bean for home. Then I returned a few days later (Monday) and "sigh" the door stated "Closed". Aww man. So I returned on Tuesday. Ordered another iced Americano and again. Spectacular, perfect shots using a different blend! I've missed this type of coffee. I bought another bag of coffee (Peru this time). I hope to be a long time customer (even though I have other friends that roast beans, lol). I hope you'll reconsider to open Mondays at least until 2 pm or 3 pm. Customer service was great. Counter help was friendly and willing to help and explain the products. They definitely pulled some fabulous shots for my Americano! Thank you.

A couple of weeks ago Mike (the new owner) was selling coffee at the Downtown Growers Market. My wife decided to get a white chocolate mocha and was in total bliss. I am personally an avid connoisseur of white mochas and I'd have to say his is the best in town. Do yourself a favor and get one from his Cafe "Downtown Java Joe's". Oh and the food is great there too. Mike was even kind enough to share his knowledge in coffee and espresso machines with me. I have no doubt that this business has been passed onto a person who is worthy of being the new owner.

So early this year my girlfriend (Laura) and I drove to California and back from Auburn, AL. It was a long trip and got to go to tons of cool places one of which was this coffee roaster! It was actually pretty serendipitous! We just happened to be in Albuquerque in the early morning hours and I saw that nearby there was a coffee roaster that had outstanding reviews that also gave tours of their roaster and had HUGE mountains of bags of raw beans. I wanted to surprise my girlfriend with a better experience than just a normal coffee shop so I plugged it into the GPS. We got there and it was a really small operation but the people that worked there literally lived for coffee and you could tell they knew possibly everything to know about different beans. They were quiet and reserved at first but warmed up to us pretty quick and were more than happy to answer all of our questions and show us around. They took us in the back and showed us their coffee roaster and we got to meet the only guy who roasts the beans there. He told us he roasts it by smell rather than by time or by sight and has been roasting coffee for 25+ years!! It was nuts! Anyway the coffee was surprisingly cheap for freshly roasted coffee, like 8 or 9 dollars a pound and they had like 20 to 25 different coffee bean varieties from literally all over the globe and they could honestly tell you all the nuances of each variety and their source and anything. They were extremely cool people and I appreciated their passion so we bought one pound each of two different varieties. We didn't get to try it until we got home. We brewed a cup and both took our first sip and my girlfriend and I both looked at each other in amazement and were just like....."what the heck?!! There is no way this coffee is this good!!" Amazing coffee roaster and amazing people!! Please do yourself a favor and buy a bag, I promise you'll never go back to store bought coffee ever again!

New owner! I have heard about potential new ownership for many months. I have been buying my coffee at Whiting coffee for over 30 years. When I walked in today there is a marked change in the physical appearance. The coffee, service and feeling of a charming local business remains. I look forward to ongoing changes and overheard that cups of coffee will be available for purchase. Welcome Mike and staff

Albuquerque is blessed with much good coffee, and some wonderful roasters, but I have to say that this place roasts the best cup of joe I have ever had. I am using a Chemex method, and their careful blending (done at the time of grinding) produces a cup of black coffee that actually has notes, a bouquet, and a finish. An amazing place!

Friendly and very knowledgeable owners and employees. Fair prices. They sell more than great coffee. Chocolate, jelly, mustard, very nice coffee cups and mugs, and bowls. No credit cards, but cash and checks are accepted.

Been coming here since 2002! Fantastic coffee and accessories. I've never been led wrong at Whitings. They sell the best coffee on this side of the Mississippi (and maybe in the country). When I travel, I make sure to stock up here because I know I'll not drink a better blend anywhere else. Big fan of them adding a coffee bar inside; it's nice to have a shot of espresso to go.

I had a great experience here. The staff are so nice and personable and friendly. The coffee is really good too. I ordered an iced caramel machiato with oat milk. I definitely recommend giving this place a try.

The best coffee roasters, ever! I’ve been using this little place for over 20 years. Moving on from New Mexico, I order on line monthly and have my fresh ground coffee within days. A favorite of all time for coffee lovers. ♥️

Only place to buy, in Albuquerque the freshest coffee beans. Great imported jams and candies too. That review was from 2020. Today, the beans are roasted by a novice. Very inconsistent roasts from week to week. Several varietals have been dropped, and prices went up 40%. Im disappointed in the new Whiting Coffee after over 35 years of getting a great coffee bean.

Under new ownership. Quality has definitely dropped. The teas they sell, especially black teas are just powder. Might as well by teabags. The pu erh tea is definitely fermented poorly as it has a high fishy note to it . They sold it to me saying that's how it's supposed to be. No. No it's not. The gentleman with glasses and the apron seems put off to be there and his associates are much more friendly. It's a shame the quality of teas seems to have dropped drastically. I have been going there for over 30years and was disappointed.

Great little coffee and tea shop. Diverse selection of coffee beans and tea leaves, in addition to their drink menu. They also sell artisanal olive oil which I'll have to come back and sample next time

First time there, I was given a warm welcome and told about the products they have and what they do. Great prices and great people. I wish I could give them 7 stars out of 5.

Your friendly, local coffee roaster that's been in business for decades selling high quality, freshly roasted coffee at reasonable prices. I've been buying my coffee there for the last two years. They also have other related products, including bulk teas, coffee filters, brewing utensils, etc. Go there to see if I omitted anything. You're almost out of coffee again aren't you?

Nicely managed and decorated shop, but the coffee is a bit over roasted for my taste. Their lightest is a medium dark bean with oils on the surface from the second crack. Wish they offered a more nuanced roast that would bring out the varietal flavors more.

Once I moved from Albuquerque, I continued to crave the Whiting coffees. There is just no other vendor that I have found that compares with the quality and consistency of Whiting's products. I order now from Houston, TX, and I will continue doing so. Being the best coffee around, you would think that they would have the highest prices. But it is not true. They sell for a better than fair price, and are always courteous and helpful when I call. If you are lucky enough to find this store, do not hesitate to purchase their products. Great products, superior customer service, and great prices. What else could you ask for?

We love Whiting's coffee. It's fresh and always consistently roasted perfectly. We like a robust coffee in a fairly dark roast, and their Uganda variety is perfect, though we occasionally sample other varieties and have never been disappointed. This is strictly a coffee roastery -- no tables or sandwiches, just piles of gunny sacks of raw beans from all over the world. Besides coffee, they do offer some European cookies, chocolates, and other sweets to enjoy with your coffee when you get home.

AMAZING Coffee from NM to our new home in Arizona. We have been enjoying Whiting Coffee for 10+ years! When we moved from NM we ordered via phone.....we cannot live without our morning cup/cups of Viennese!

Great coffee at a good price. I've been getting my coffee at Whitings for 20+ years. I've had to have it shipped to me ever since I moved 11 years ago because I can't find coffee that is as good here in DFW. I hope the new ownership maintains the quality I've come to expect.

Bought a bag of their Columbian at the grocery in Mountainair. As soon as I openeded it something was off. Brewed a pot and it tasted like an ash tray. That's what it smelled like as well. As a proud New Mexican I love to support local products. But, if this is as good as your coffee gets. Then something is very wrong.
