Rheumatology- Dr. Yaqub I had been treated successfully for many years with a biologic medication, but had to switch as it quit working. I then had an insurance change and had to change Drs. I began seeing Dr. Yaqub at that time and have seen her for a year and a half. During this time my RA has been untreated and has worsened significantly as this Dr. hasn't made much effort to work with the insurance company to get a new med approved. In addition, she has only performed a cursory (at best) examination of my joints, one time. I have found this Dr to be arrogant and uncaring. Also, as phone calls are screened at the Cancer Ctr front desk, it's nearly impossible to speak to someone in the office regarding prior authorization requests or any other issue. Also, the Rheumatology receptionist is rude and doesn't seem too happy with her job. Why have I endured this clinic for this long? Seeking a new Dr. now.

Don't waste your time trying to see these people. If you're sick and need help, these people are NOT who you want. First appointment will take 6 months... if you're lucky. New patient customer attitude is about as bad as it gets; rude, intimidating, and arrogant and very incompetent.

This place is supposed to help people that are sick not give them more stress than the reason that they need to be seen there to begin with. They refused to schedule me an appointment that wasn't 4 months away, She says that it was because I had missed 3 appointments in 2020, so they wouldn't schedule me for anything sooner. The funny thing is this was 3 years ago (2020) and I was not a patient there. Instead of showing any concern or being helpful in any way she was extremely rude and says I don't know what to tell you. These receptionists seriously need more training.

I was here for a PET Scan, after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. A very pleasant & professional young woman at the entrance, gave me directions to where my appointment was. As soon as I walked up to the Radiology reception desk, one of the two women checking in patients, gave me such an evil stare, it was like, "why are YOU here?" If her looks could have killed, I'd be dead right now! Further, she said nothing to me for several awkward seconds; just stared, with such a nasty demeanor. Finally, when she decided that maybe she should say something, the first word out of her mouth was, "yeah?" (I'll bet you 2 cookies this is how the cancer center ALWAYS greets ALL it's new patients ALL the time.😒) As she handed me forms to fill out, she spoke with such low volume; almost to the point of being inaudible (and doing this to a new patient who wears hearing aids, no less.) After I completed the forms, I walked over to hand them back to the same receptionist, and this time, another employee, a really tall, huge guy, was literally & figuratively sprawled all over the front of the counter!! I couldn't get around him to hand her the forms! When I finally was able to turn over the documents to her, she looked across the room while taking the clipboard, never making eye contact, and never saying a word, not even telling me what to expect next. This employee had to be the most blatantly rudest, nasty and unprofessional medical "professional" I had the miserable pleasure of meeting. She made no effort to hide her contempt for me, and seemed glad that I was the target of her micro-aggressions. For all the good work I hope to believe the New Mexico Cancer Center does, you guys could really use some lessons in hiring good, decent people to represent you; I am definitely not impressed. To give credit where it's due, the one small act of kindness & professionalism I'll take from this experience (other than when the young woman at the entrance gave me directions), was when an employee named Ruben brought me to the back to prep me, before they did the PET scan. Thank you, Ruben, for being the professional you are! From someone who's job is staffing medical facilities around the country with decent individuals such as yourself, I applaud you; well done! And for those horrible, nasty women in reception, you suck. Best, Kenneth.

My doctor left and they assigned me another doctor that is horrible. I have called several times asking to see another doctor with no response. This so-called doctor did not even examine me, failed to read my chart, ordered the wrong tests, and told me to come back in 2 years when i was on a 4 to 6 month followup schedule with my last doctor due to my family cancer history. NMCC is quick to take money but they do not care about their patients. Go anywhere but here if you want treated like your health matters.

I have been receiving care at the Cancer Center in Albuquerque going on three years now. While I have been frustrated at times, my experience has been that the Staff and Doctors have always gone above and beyond to do what is necessary to address any concerns I may have. The nurses in the transfusion room are the absolute best and I credit them for making my treatment bearable. Patience and communication is key and you do have to be your own advocate but I definitely credit the team who designed the treatment for me with saving my life. I will always and forever be grateful to every single one of them.

I received a message on August 3rd that my physician referred me to the cancer center. So I immediately returned the call, then called 3 more times. The next day I called again twice, then finally asked to speak to the scheduling manager and left a message that I had not received a call back to schedule my first appointment at the Cancer Center. Today, A WEEK LATER, the scheduler called me to book my appointment. This shows poor management and lack of compassion. When a person is told they are being referred to a cancer center it is anxiety provoking, but to have to wait a week for a call back is unacceptable! I will be having my treatments elsewhere.

My original review was 3 years ago, which is below. I just wanted to update, 3 years later, they are still absolutely amazing. I ended up with COVID and called to cancel an appointment, I am under the care of a Family Doctor, so I wasnt calling for help and i didnt ask for help. A nurse calls me every single day to check on me and offer advice. I still find this place absolutely amazing. . This place is amazing. It isn't a "doctors office" it is much much more. You have access to just about everything you need as a cancer patient. Support for your family, Financial support for those who need it, counseling, access to your doctors and nurses 24/7/365. They are there for you, to advocate and guide you during one of the most difficult challenges you'll ever face. I'd be lost without them.

Hello, I have been going to Dr. Yaqub office for a couple of years now. She and her staff are very friendly and caring toward me. They take their time with my care and the asking of questions about if I'm in pain or just need any meds refilled. She examines me every time I come into her office and makes sure if I do have any pain to order labs or we discuss other options for treatment.

I was asked to arrive 30 minutes early (7:30am) before my new patient appointment to complete whatever pre appointment steps that would be required. There were no forms or questionnaire so I sat for 40 minutes in the waiting room. After triage from a very nice nurse/MA then sitting in the exam room for a while waiting well beyond my appointed time, I was told the doctor was still on hospital rounds and was running late. No problem, I had nowhere else to be. During my time with the doctor, he said a couple things that were a bit offensive to me. At the end of the appointment, he asked if I had any questions. I did ask a question that was very important to me and his answer seemed to be a word salad attempt to actually avoid answering the question honestly and/or sincerely. As I had expected, the doctor ordered imaging and lab work. At the conclusion of the exam, he left me with the gentleman who schedules these tests and the necessary follow up visit to review the results. This gentleman told me he had to contact my insurance first and he would call me back later that afternoon to schedule. I didn’t hear from him that afternoon. It had now been a week without any callback. I’ve attempted to contact him twice without any luck. Once by phone where I was told after being on hold a while that he was on another line and would get back to me. Then a follow up message I sent through the patient portal a couple days later that has so far gone unanswered. I am not from the area and I have already spent $600 on RV park reservations to be in proximity to Albuquerque for the initial appointment and subsequent testing. I won’t be able to recover that loss. I will be challenging the insurance claim for my initial appointment because I now have to find another Oncologist elsewhere and start the whole process over again.

Recently I was prescribed a $7,000.00 med. insurance approved 5,000. I live on SS benefits. I met with the Benita counselor. This was difficult for me, I felt inadequate. deAndra was incredibly compassionate personable, professional and efficient. She was the best part of my day!!!!

A very nice center, with some very good Doctors, that show empathy. They do their own blood work here, with lab on site (could use some better phlebotomists that are used to hard sticks). They have very nice medical technicians that are very caring, and very thorough making sure the Doctors have all the information they may need. The only people that could use some improvement are the front counter/check- in personal, they seem to care more about talking, and using their personal phones than checking you in. There are way to many people up there hanging out, on all three visits I have had. Overall a Great Place, and they also have vending machines, no hard candy though. I understand now why older people always have hard candy.

I started going to Dr Uribe for Rheumatoid Arthritis and he has proven himself to be a Dr that did the least amount of anything he can. He says he doesn't treat pain associated with it just the cause, he doesn't do disability. Every time I turn around he's trying to refer me out to a different doctor for EVERYTHING. The only thing he does is he takes blood work he looks at it and he will adjust your humira or your methotrexate. That is ALL he will do! At one point I had gotten really sick after I started taking the immunosuppressants and his nurse literally told me to take whatever antibiotics I have left in cupbosrd! If you have a choice I HIGHLY recommend going to another DR as he is , in my opinion and experience, not concerned about his patients at all or their of overall well being Postnote:After this review I was informed I need to seek medical attention from another facility. Proving my point.

May 2020 I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. A Battle I'm still fighting today. Mastectomy ✔ Chemotherapy ✔ Radiation ✔ Reconstruction ✔ Hysterectomy and Not to mention The endless blood work, CT Scans, MRIs etc the list seems endless. The Staff, The Nurses and Foundation Staff of The NMCC have shown me zero compassion and understanding. It's Shocking the hold times, the blatant Refusal to schedule an appointment with your Dr. There is a HUGE miscommunication between what you discuss with the nurses and what's actually conveyed to the Dr. I am Constantly Being told I Must go through the nurses first to see if one is necessary. Simply Crazy. Insomnia, Chronic anxiety, chemo enduced menoupause and the list goes on. But when I am calling with shortness of breath and blurry vision, I would think that would warrant at least a phone appointment. To be continued... Update: I now have the nurses and Staff "coming for me". Cause Battling Cancer isn't enough. I did apply for assistance with The Foundation. As for actually receiving assistance. PNM, NM Gas Co, The water utility Co, my landlords etc all beg to differ. An in/out house Audit is Definitely needed... My Dr is Beyond Amazing! A God Send!! I'm grateful for HER every single day! Her staff. Not So Much. She is worth dealing with ALL of the nonsense.

Update--- 11/27/23--- Sleep study- I highly recommend you use another provider. If you wish to use them PLEASE ask for full treatment plan in writing. They will refuse to give you realistic insurance/out of pocket quotes. Expect several sleep studies to get results. Expect the doctor not to call you with the results (tech does that) Expect billing confusion as they bill late, duplicate billing codes with modifiers. Expect poor communication Expect billing shock Depending on your insurance you are looking at easily thousands of dollars. Do not trust anything by phone get EVERYTHING IN WRITING!! On cancer side of service--- My mother was here about 6 months for large mass cancer, but after numerous biopsies nothing was found and she passed away with unknown cancer in just a few short months. They do not have hospital admittance control, so if you get to bad place they only can call ambulance and dump you to local hospital.

For all doctors EXCEPT DEATON in primary care! Check your visit notes. They are FICTION. need a refill on your meds. Start calling 3 months in advanced. She still hasn’t filled mine. AND I AM OUT!! AND HAVE BEEN FOR 2 months. I will not rate her because she gets a NEGATIVE REVIEW. I am stuck until I can locate a PCP for my entire family. She charged a copay to fill out my husband’s FMLA and NEVER SENT THEM!!!!!!! NMCC has impeccable doctors for specialty not so much in primary care

I’ve been a patient of the NMCC for 6 years. Today I had an infusion as part of a 2 x year treatment. The staff here are always friendly, helpful, and attentive to my needs. Today was no exception as Kristyn, my infusion nurse, took excellent care of me! This practice is a bright light in the midsts of poor healthcare that we are unfortunately afflicted by now days. Thank You NMCC!

Wonderful doctors but as a patient I'm wondering why they don't have a wellness center for massages and exercise equipment and a staff there to plan out your wellness plan and be here to help because I think this is important for the people to be able to build their bodies back up and their lives all together as well as counciling at the wellness center. If I had someone to help me with this project and have a benefit to raise money for the building and the needed equipment I'd surly give my time 100%to get this accomplished.

The staff is rude. They don't call you back for days if not weeks. They are booked out for several months, and then when you finally get an appointment, they change their policy around what you are seeing them for but DO NOT CALL to inform you of said policy changes.

NMCC provided outstanding care for my mother. She said it was the best healthcare experience she encountered in her lifetime and particularly as she faced metastatic pancreatic cancer. Dr Kubica was compassionate and thoughtful with regard to her prognosis and treatment options. My mother was ultimately under the care of Dr Standoli who was a gift to mother and our family. He was able to help navigate and mitigate complex and debilitating symptoms of her cancer. She felt cared for, respected and validated in her struggle and life choices by Dr Standoli and the exceptional NMCC staff.
