Absolutely the worst ER experience of my life. My wife was brought in by ambulance with chest pain and other symptoms. After 10 hours in the ER waiting room she has not been seen by nurse or doctor. A couple of tests were run but nothing has been done. All we have been told is they are busy. Terrible, terrible, terrible. There have been numerous HIPAA violations in the waiting room, extremely rude people on hospital phone line, no information/updates give, etc. There is NO sense of urgency from anyone in the ER. DO NOT GO TO THIS ER. Choose a different option.

Worst ER care we have ever had. No urgency or professionalism. Waited in the waiting room over 8 hours not in an ER room. A nurse asked to see my husbands surgical wound. My husband took off the bandage to show the nurse. The bandage was thrown away but not replaced. The wound was oozing. Then they did blood work, UA and exray, Finally my husband was sent to wait in the waiting area. If a patient is not going to be placed in an ER room to be seen than work ups should not be done. A patient is being forced to pay for services when they are not even seen. Bad service, no professionalism, and no urgency, that is what you can expect from UNM ER.

I was released after 10 hrs of waiting in the ER hallway. I was hoping to get my spinal stenosis treated instead, I was given Tylenol, x-rays, and pawned off to a neurosurgeon.

I may be biased (UNM student), but, in my opinion, the nurses, doctors, and residents here are amazing. I felt very cared for and they make sure I was comfortable. The reason for the wait times is because it does teach student doctors and nurses, and they need a little bit of extra time. Also, if you don't have an emergency, the urgent care is next door. Love them!

I’m writing this as I am in the emergency room. We have been here 24 hrs. THAT IS RIDICULOUS. When we wanted to leave we were threatened with insurance not paying for our visit. Obviously we stayed and are on hour 24, waiting for results. Every time we ask the progress of our case, we get brushed off with “let me check” or “we don’t know” and it’s just awful. If i could give zero stars I WOULD.

Someone peed on the floor and rather than mop it up they just put a wet floor sign down and called it a day. Wth? They finally cleaned it up after making everyone suffer for 45 minutes. They cleaned that chair but none of the others.... that being said: Once I was checked into a room, everything took a turn for the better. They gave me the results of my blood tests, medication to ease my symptoms, I had an ultrasound (a student sat in and did the ultrasound and did a great job) and I am now waiting to talk to the dr. It seemed like it was going to be a horrible experience at first but its actually been super pleasant once I got called back. Update: never got a call back with my lab results, upon exiting i kept getting ignored by someone who was supposed to set me up with a primary care. I would have been just as well off not even going, since they cant tell me whats wrong.

Care is good. Staff are professional & caring. Like any ER it takes a long time for tests, x-rays, & to be seen by a Dr. I was not in any critical condition. Overall a decent visit to the hospital on a Friday afternoon. They did not appear to be swamped as I thought they might be.

Horrible service people don’t seem to care about the people they are caring for not sure if these people who are supposed to be care professionals really have degrees or not … They definitely do not care about the patients well being at least they do not show it… I have never experienced or seen what I experienced there if a patient has a visitor they should at least make sure their patient is presentable for the person visiting especially if the patient is unconscious and cannot do it themselves …and have some respect for people who are getting ready to passing away …this review won’t phase the people who work there they probably don’t care enough to bring up the quality of care they are giving or they would have a better review score But these care professionals took an oath when getting their credentials and surely will have some karma or something in their lives …

Sorry to say but the nurses are rude and no compassion in them. Doing something good for the others need the nurses done have no remorse. Sat there all night lots and lots of Pain I had to go through. No pain medicine but left me sitting there all Pain. I asked for help to use the bathroom no avail. Sat there with Pain and abdominal pains needed a restroom. Kidney infection. Fractured my ankle couldn't do anything. Dislike this hospital. Rather be somewhere else. No student isn't going to use me as guinea pig,

I am shocked. The hospital called and advised I must come in ASAP tests show sepsis. After waiting 8 hours in the waiting room I was brought back. A nurse tried to give me a shot, I asked what is it and why, hmmm she never came back. I've never felt in danger or my life threatened by being in a hospital. Im scared choosing to come here will be the last bad decision I ever make.

On Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022 we visited the UNM Emergency Room about 3 AM. I arrived shortly after the ambulance dropped my wife off. I had no issue finding her and by the time of my arrival she had already been through X Ray and was waiting in the Triage area with many other patients. The place buzzed with activity as one might expect. We were there until about 4 PM. By then the doctors had resolved her medical diagnosis as UTI. She was treated well, even though they were very busy. The staff person assigned to the waiting room, Jennie Garcia was personable, patient and very helpful to me the Husband all day. At the time of our leaving, she was helpful to my wife as well and she is highly to be commended for representing the UNM Emergency Room. Sincerely, My wife and I believe the ER staff and her Dr. did an excellent job, considering the case load on that particular day. Her DR. visited me in the ER waiting room and advised me of his findings as well before we left. A positive experience.

Rating Emergency Rooms is very difficult because nobody actually knows what is going on behind the curtain and a lot of people there are in a great deal of pain. That means that my experience however miserable I may have felt was probably the best that could be done. UNMH is infamous for a busy ER and long wait times. The staff obviously cares they come out to each patient as is prescribed by a doctor and medication and vitals are given/taken regularly.

I can’t say enough good things about the pediatric emergency room here. Twice I have had to bring my infant daughter, once for a febrile seizure and once for RSV. Both times we have went in to a room in less than 3 minutes, and have been treated with kindness, promptness and given lots of information and reassurance. The doctors, nurses, and the desk staff are all kind and competent.

Amazing doctors and nurses who pay attention to details and run test after test to make sure they don't miss anything. They have a great bedside manner, the best phlebotomist I've ever met, and a pretty OK waiting room (hey, we're gonna wait hours anyway, right?) They saved my wife's life and I'm grateful to live close by. Go UNM!!! They even waited hours to collect my info so that I didn't have to pull it out RIGHT away. Honestly - this hospital is at least 30% better than every T1 in Boston because of their attitude.

This is the only restroom near the ER for the general public. Do you as a company not have a cleaning crew?? The restroom has been like this since 11am. Now at 6 pm they clean it

I go to the ER SEVERAL TIMES A MONTH. They won’t figure out what’s wrong with me. I’ve had cruciating pain in my stomach and irretractable vomiting, I can’t eat or sleep or live my life normally whatsoever. Why can’t they figure it out??? They just keep sending me home Without telling me anything or trying to figure out what’s wrong. I’m still in really bad shape, going to the ER or urgent cares basically every day now. This mystery illness seriously has taken over my entire life… I’m honestly contemplating my life :(

I was sent by my primary doctor due to possible cancer complications. ( infected wound on my foot)quickly taken at intake. And bandages removed. Was rebandaged, but only about 1/2 way correct. Then about 2 hours later they drew my blood. First they missed my vein twice in my arm, then managed to get it in my hand. And they were not going to bandage the missed vein. ( it was bleeding but not terribly. ) then I was sent to the waiting room for another 5+ hours. I tried asking staff if I could at least get my blood work results so I could tell my primary. all I got was the cold shoulder. And a curt in a moment. Wish I could rate it lower. Highly disappointed with they way I was treated and the level of skill from all nurses.i never saw the doctor. I know there could have been more emergency type patients, but 7 to 9 + hours is too much.

Was seen for a flare-up of spinal meningitis on a Wednesday around 8:30 AM. Waiting room empty. Kind nurses and staff. It took awhile, total of 10 hours but I received an IV anti-inflammatory and pain medication for 10/10 anguish. Best thing: no Covid test! And no one forcing vaccine on me.

This pediatric emergency room was amazing for us. Yes, the wait was long, just under 4 hours but I've honestly waited longer at urgent care. The staff were so thorough and I didn't feel like they were dismissing our concerns like another place we went to recently. We went home with a diagnosis and a care plan, I am so thankful for their hard work.

I went in on Christmas night and was helped right away by a very helpful and compassionate staff. I was dreading going to the ER, but so glad I did.

On 7/23/23 around 6:00pm. my daughter went through ambulance. The young lady African American was really kind and polite to my daughter. Thank You ma'am for your compassion and caring. There was a gentleman that's bald around mid 30's was rude no eye contact, showed no empathy. My daughter has a serious issue with her heart and he wouldn't even let her use the wheelchair, made her get up so someone else could use it he stated.please can you address this issue. Thank you for being good to my daughter over all.

Useless and disgusting place. Needs to be cleaned. Staff is rude. My parent has been waiting 9+ hours for results on a head injury. They didn’t even put her in a room just have her in pain in the lobby. I will be contacting administration. The ER is not free or cheap. Needs to be better organized

By far the worst experience I had medically, the nurses and staff were rude and negligent, threatened to throw me out when id mentioned id been waiting several hours with no care, they blatantly disrespected my foriegn provider and prescription and said we do it right here, your in america! That doctor speaks 4 langauges and comes from a country with the strictest drug laws in the world I was prescribed anti anxiety meds as I have 3 psyciatric disorders, cervical pain and heart problems I ran out of my meds and had severe witbdrawal and literally was yelled at given the tiniest little pill of ativan and never given my results and told to wait and never was seen again until sunrise the next day and I had a short conversation with a doctor and was released I was shaking from medication withdrawal and lack of sleep I was delirious. patients bragged of smoking fentanyl in the parking lot and get in and be Iv'd with ativan and treated and released in just a few hours. I literally with an IV in my arm walked out of the hospital and walked to go get food, burritos and soda and walked past, nurses, doctors, security and there were police outside. Only 1 security guard noticed id been gone for over an hour and with an iv in my arm and no one said anything but I was there so long I had to eat, the only person that seemed concerned and said I needed medical care was the convenient store clerk. I was told to file a complaint by security that witnessed my maltreatment and nothing will be done im sure. I literrally had to beg to be released and have my iv pulled out as no medicine was given after several hours I was there so long I saw the sun rise, I had to resort to buying and drinking alcohol to prevent a seizure until I could retrieve my last bit of emergency medicine I had at home. Went to pres the following day and it was signifigantly better. Go to pres, or elsewhere for er. Worst ER experience in my life. This hospital and this city have turned into a nightmare full of rude aggressive people, crime ridden and the healthcare here is awful.

Thank you to the Nurses and Doctors in the ER. Thank you to Sam, Will and Debra for the care for my husband and the patience with us. We were in Manzano ward. Rooms 37H and 36 on Sunday and Monday.

This place is a set up until 8 or 9am I'm probably going to be here to that time. Been here since 11pm My loved one is here sleeping on patient bed doing ok. I'm cold as ice because the ac is on all hours of the night and when my loved one asked to use the restroom real badly the old lady said yes but then she just walked out and went back to to her desk and 15 minutes went by and I got up and said he needs the restroom badly then she snaps about it like she forgot! I asked how much longer until we can go but nothing. I look out and the other doctor is no where in sight to let us know that we can leave it's now 6.30 am. This isn't a place to be especially sitting on a chair dozing off hadn't any sleep. At least they can say there won't be another doc until so and so time! This is ridiculous! Especially my loved one is doing fine! This is sad no communication whatsoever!!!!!

Every staff member I met was so friendly and nice I can't stress that enough, the day I went in they were extremely busy, since I don't have insurance they gave me a paper so I could possibly get help. I spent a night here I got no sleep but that's no problem of theirs. After everything I did leave with no real answers but they still took good care of me.
