This gym suits my needs to do PT, stretching and swim. I use a power wheelchair and this is truly a wheelchair accessible gym. I could not be happier with the staff and the quality of the amenities. There's a large wheelchair accessible shower with shower seat and grab bars. Although there is no wheelchair lift at the pool or hot tub, having an incomplete injury I use hands and knees. After my swim or when I get cold (as I can't regulate my body temp), I crawl over to the hot tub which is divided from the pool by a small wall. They have a dry sauna, a wet sauna, there's shampoo, soap and body lotion. The gym has a stretching machine for eight different muscle groups. As I can't do anything else aside from swimming, my review is based solely on the pool. Yes, the Downtown location probably shows its age here and there. But for me it's perfect. The attendants are great. I cannot wish for a nicer and more professiona l crew. However, I can see that there has been a lot of personnel changes including managers over the last year and a half. The current manager is fantastic, so hopefully that will adjust issues regarding membership. Give this gym a shot though; where else in Albuquerque would you find a pool, hot tub, wet and dry sauna in one location? They also have a ton of group exercise classes including spinning and yoga, and very motivating trainers, and nice members.

I would have given 5 stars. The gym should not allow children. It's frustrating to swim with kids who are diving in the small pool and splashing about. I don't have an issue with kids and I know they don't know any better and they just want to have fun. But I'm tired of parents dumping their under 14 year old kids at the pool while they work out.

I was interested in purchasing a membership, but that quickly changed when I hopped on a call with a representative. They would not give away pricing information until I had come into the gym. Would not give ranges of cost either. I felt extremely frustrated and disappointed by the lack of transparency. I've given my money to a gym that has all the pricing publicly available, as I believe it should be.

What a great gym. This place has a lot to offer. I do lap swimming in the heated pool, and the hot tub is nice after a workout. I love the accomodations too in the locker room, and everything is so clean. Customer service is exceptional. I'm happy to be a member. I highly recommend this gym.

I would’ve given five stars had I not walked in today to find the pool full of screaming unsupervised children splashing about throwing the physical therapy tools everywhere. Some of the members seem to think that the pool is a daycare for their children. Not on my dollar. If it ever happens again I am immediately terminating my membership and withholding all future payment.

I absolutely love this location and the staff but being a downtown location I would think they’d have better hours so business people could get a workout before and after work. I end up having to find another location to workout end of day and weekends. I know hours changed for covid but I’m still waiting for the hours to be expanded so I can make this my home gym! We need weekends open.

I really enjoyed downtown Sports and Wellness. The staff was polite and the club was clean. The club never reopened after closing due to COVID and I was still charged for a full month of membership to cancel my month to month membership even though the club I was paying for closed.

Downtown Sports and Wellness is a small and friendly club. I have been a member since 1982 since it was "Executive Sports Club". It was built underground as a movie theater so it's a bit funkier than the more upscale locations. Downtown doesn't have the number of classes as the larger and newer clubs, more like living in a small town. You also are not cheek by jowl with others which is wonderful. . Staff is always willing to help and is accommodating. I have never had a problem with towels and equipment, and if you live and/or work Downtown or in the Near North Valley, the convenience is great.

This was a good gym and everything was in a fairly good condition, probably because it is never busy which is great. However, I honestly didn’t feel like this facility was worth the money, it is not as nice as I expected. To me, it felt old. I feel like they also have many rooms (that look empty and have odd steps because nothing is on the same floor level) that people don’t even use, so it looks like wasted space with a weird layout. Overall I had an ok experience, but if you’re into gyms that feel new and bright (I thought it was kind of dark in there), I wouldn’t say this is the one, at least not this location.

I love this small executive feeling health club. It has a dry sauna, steam saunas, a pool, a jacuzzi, racquetball courts, and all the equipment I need for a good workout. Never seems to crowded. Friendly staff and me, a super helpful, knowledgeable trainer!

Glad this location is back open. Hopefully they’ll extend the hours and open up earlier. But it’s never busy it’s like having your own private club.

😠 This gym has so much potential but needs new management or management needs to step it up. The machines are always broken down. For weeks at a time. Leg Day is not too great here. I have to go somewhere else on leg days. No air-conditioning. We pay all this money for our membership, plus annual feed...
