😠 I used to love this gym with all its amenities and its nice big open area. The pool is also a plus. But lately it’s not been as good. My main issue is the staff that works there can be incredibly rude. They seem to just socialize the entire time and don’t take the job seriously. If I have a question... People often mention membership, equipment, staff, club, month, years, cancel, great, time, members,

I used to love this gym with all its amenities and its nice big open area. The pool is also a plus. But lately it’s not been as good. My main issue is the staff that works there can be incredibly rude. They seem to just socialize the entire time and don’t take the job seriously. If I have a question they decide to ignore me and talk to the other co workers instead, and they have me waiting there like I’m some bum. I get dirty looks by many of the staff members here as well, especially that super tall lady. My family pays a membership here to work out, not be harassed. Looking to join a better gym in the near future.

I went in there thinking i was paying for a 1year membership but found out later it was a contract. Really dirty not the gym but the sale representatives. Everytime i want to work out its always crowded. Its a nice gym but not worth 106 dollars a month and that was them giving me a deal. At least the other gyms i went to were straight up about their deals. I feel scammed. They steal from people. Don't believe or trust them.

I have been a loyal member of sports and wellness for 3 years. I called today to ask about some group fitness classes that had a dollar sign next to them on the website. I was thinking that these were paid classes and maybe ranged from a couple dollars to 10$ Max. When I spoke to the receptionist she informed me that the website was not up to date, the class did not exist on the date and time noted and that the class, when it is available is 20$ to $35 per class. I clarified with her that this is the rate for members of the club. She said yes but was not sure so she sent me to a voicemail. After paying almost $100 a month for the club I am beyond livid that they would have the audacity to charge its members for group classes let alone 20$ to $35 for an hour long class.

I have been a member of this club for 18 years. Each year they send me a letter telling me that the dues are increasing. THATS EVERY YEAR. Was paying 152 per month this past year but come January 1st looks like its going up again. lets see 152.00 per month that's 1,824.00 per year over 18 years for a total of $32,832. Maybe its time to offer a price hold or even a discount for loyal members. I predict a large fitness chain will enter the Albuquerque market (maybe 24 hour fitness) in the next 5 years. Albuquerque is ready for another option.

Having lived here nearly 40 years & being a previous member, this evening I took my wife (she’s only lived here a year) in to this location so she could see the place & we could discuss becoming a member once again. We were greeted by Aiden, a fine young man wearing a tie, who was most informative & respectful. Aiden instructed us we’d have to wait for a sales associate. The female, I’m assuming Sale Associate, immediately informed us to tour the place we’d have to fill out and sign an accident waiver in case something happened. We agreed to fill out the waiver & the wife & I were given tablets. It wasn’t until shortly after opening up the consent agreement to a rather lengthy disclaimer that we realized the entire process was about gathering more information necessary (Phone #, email address, etc…) for anyone to simply physically preview the facility. At this point, I addressed the young lady & told her I didn’t feel the amount of information they were asking for was a necessity for us to simply tour the place. She stated it was absolutely necessary. I stated okay, we’d see about joining Defined Fitness. At which time we were told have a good evening a few times.

I signed up for a summer only membership. Then a friend alerted me that even though it was sold to me as a “summer membership” that I still needed to cancel it. I called to cancel my membership in August 2022. They told me I cannot cancel over the phone, that I needed to come in person. I then went to the gym in person to cancel that same day. When I arrived, Rebecca was at the front desk and told me that all the managers were in a meeting and that I could not cancel because no one was available. She left them my name and number to call me. Mikayla later called me that day and explained that for my inconvenience of coming in to cancel and no one being available, she would offer me to only pay for myself for September 2022 and not for the entire family. Today I was billed September 2022 for the entire family again ($189). I would like Makayla’s word to mean something (even thought it’s “not in the notes” in your system). When you are offered the chance to just sign up for the summer, I took you at your word. I trusted what was being told to me. At no point did anyone tell me that my membership didn’t automatically end at the end of august OR that you needed 30 days notice to cancel. Such a scam. They must be desperate for money.

If only Defined would open up in the same area, Del Norte is old and worn out, many attempts to bandage the gym however time and heavy use has done its toll to the place. Staff is always welcoming and courteous however its time to move on, 17 years, no customer loyalty to those with years of loyalty , just more and more price increases without putting any money into the facility> TIME to MOVE ON, its not about service any longer its about Money, which is fine however without the loyalty of the members and providing a clean vibrant atmosphere they will slowly die off. As they should

Seems like a great gym but I got into a tangle with a contract with them. I was 24 hours late to make a cancellation and they locked me in for a year! It's a pricey gym but their facilities are nice. Customer service is definitely lot their strong point. If you're new to gyms this is NOT the place to go. That strange feeling you have to hurdle when trying something new is definitely not soothed here. Watch our for contacts here. Thankfully after a big stink they agreed to move the membership into my husband's name for less monthly and gave us a 6 month leave of absence period so we could catch our breath on the whole thing.

I am very disappointed with Sports and Wellness. All locations are filthy. Black mold in the showers and on shower curtains, vents coated with thick dust, sweat drips and drink spills on the floor and the equipment never gets cleaned. The only locations where I have seen staff cleaning in the fitness areas are Highpoint and DelNorte. However, even though these locations have employees cleaning the fitness areas, what gets missed at every location is the locker room. Cleaning staff are in the locker rooms often, but they don't do anything other than replace towels and fill soap. Perhaps they could also mop the bathrooms and spray down showers with bleach at least once during the day. DelNorte's locker room smells like dirty feet. Perhaps a regular schedule of shampooing the carpet would help. Midtown and Riverpoints showers are lined with mold and black/green slime. The water temperature at Riverpoint is dangerous. The showers fluctuate temperature based on water usage in other parts of the locker room so you can go from a comfortable water temp to scalding to cold all within a few seconds. This can be repaired, but they are too cheap to do it. Another area of concern is equipment maintenance. It takes weeks for equipment to be repaired. When the same pieces of equipment routinely breakdown, its time to replace it. More consistency and attention to detail among the clubs would be appreciated. New equipment should be a priority for all locations. The downtown weight room can really use an update. It looks like the downtown location gets all the hand downs from other locations. Sports and Wellness promotes themselves as a premier, country club type facility and they charge accordingly. Unfortunately, the cleanliness and upkeep of their facilities and equipment tell a different story. I have brought these concerns to the management at each location and nothing changes. They don't care about members, just your money.

Overpriced... No deals for day passes... 15 to 25$ is absurd. Being the only indoor basketball court offered in the area makes it seem they are capatilizing.... On a basketball court?! Come on! Charging members for hr long classes is also absurd. I will never become a member even after my dad was for 10 years. Nope.

I rarely write reviews however my experience was so bad I felt it was absolutely necessary to help educate the general public. Laurie Smith- General Manager personally demonstrates and leads an organization with the worst customer service on the planet!! This organization also loves to hold you and your money hostage. Be extremely cautious if you consider joining this gym and make sure that you are fully aware of the cancelation policies that surround this organization. I wanted to cancel my membership however you can not cancel your membership unless you PHYSICALLY COME INTO THE GYM. In today's virtual world what organization enforces this type of policy? Therefore I was forced to put my membership on suspend. After being out of the state for four months I physically came into the gym to cancel. After previously having to pay an additional full month dues because Laurie Smith creatively waited until the next billing cycle to call call me back I now have to reactivate my membership for 1 more month of dues to cancel with no intention of utilizing the gym moving forward. This gym is not worth the $. There are plenty of reputable gyms in the area that treat their customers with respect and also do the right thing while maintaining a clean and functional facility. This organization is not one of them. I feel sorry for them and their obvious decline in their reputation on google and yelp. If I was a C-Suite Wellbridge executive I would immediately take action on this GM considering the poor feedback written by hundreds of unsatisfied prior members.

Just love this club! Particularly, the Del Norte location. They have a terrific indoor pool, great outdoor pool, Hot tub, Sauna and a steam room in each locker room. Always clean and tidy. Generally, lanes are easy to come by but there is the option now of booking a lane through their app.

On their website, the facility looks adequate and they have many class offerings. When calling to find out about membership pricing (which is not listed on their website), the receptionist said he could not help with that and I had to leave a message. Upon receiving a return call, the salesperson said I had to come in for a tour to receive pricing. I told her that I've reviewed the website, their class offerings, and equipment, and just wanted to know the membership cost. She reluctantly said it is $109.00 per month for a 3 month commitment and $99.00 per month for a 12 month commitment. I think that is a totally reasonable price for their services, and told her I would stop by. She said that I could not stop by, that it is by appointment only to join. Heads up this is the process and current pricing (7/14/2023) if you're looking to join.

Great clubs, great instructors, great trainers and good facilities. The desk staff has always been courteous and respectful. But I cannot say anything good about the new fitness and class coordinators. Just a few weeks before Christmas they terminated two of the finest trainers and class instrucors the club ever had: PCM and LP. These ladies were truly club advocates, were very professional and treated their clients and students with compassion. I do not know what their “infractions” were but management could have discussed it with them, point out the infractions and give them a time period to correct them. Instead, they were fired just weeks before Christmas—tacky, tacky, behavior on the part of certain coordinators. My advice to gym members: do not become too reliant on your trainers and class instructors because one day will be there and be gone the next.

Do not trust them with your financial information. I was signed up here for several years. It was brought to my attention that I had an outstanding balance. There were approx. $400 worth of charges for tennis lessons on my account from one of the other clubs in the area. I had never even set foot in this club, nor have I ever played tennis. Despite multiple attempts to get this resolved via phone and trips in person, they would not remove the charges and it led to me not using the club at all anymore. Eventually they sent it to collections and I ended up having to pay $400 for tennis lessons for a complete stranger so that I could get a mortgage on my new house. What’s most frustrating is that they even acknowledged that there was a member at the other club that had a name that was spelled differently, but pronounced the same way and that they were known to take tennis lessons. UPDATE: I don't use my last name on here. I can guarantee you that this was most definitely an issue that occurred at Del Norte Sports and Wellness, located at 7120 Wyoming Blvd NE Ste 8B, ABQ, NM 87109. The person was taking the tennis lessons at your Highpoint location. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I did not review the wrong company. My challenges were 100% caused by your incompetence.

Decent swimming pool and sauna and the exercise equipment is okay but is very old. The bathroom is not the cleanest. The worst part is the staff who are EXTREMELY rude, unprofessional and impatient. The manager was especially rude and inconsiderate. They don't seem to take their job seriously.

This place is ran by people with no customer services skills at all especially one of the male “managers” who talked to me with absolutely no respect. I’ve had this membership since 2012 and for years my bill is incorrect. Had it not been a gift for my grandson I would of closed this account long ago. It never fails they always over charge me and when I call in regards to my bill I am treated as if it’s my problem and I am the one out of line. It been 25 days since I was over charged 100$ and NO ONE seems to care or try to resolve this billing issue THINK TWICE BEFORE SPENDING YOUR MONEY HERE

If you’re a single parent on a budget don’t go here! I was trying to loose weight was met with rude employees. My kid was sick so I couldn’t go in. I was charged double without any notice. I can’t afford pay the extra I signed for a locked rate for a year it’s been less than 5 months since I started. I’m a single mom and the person I spoke to said go get a husband! What the hell I'm not single by choice?!? I asked about child care and got laughed at! The most disrespectful people and managers are worse! Don’t go here if you want friendly service.

The club is always very clean. Most work out equipment is old. I liked to work out in the upstairs area it's more secluded. But most of the machines and spin bikes either squeak or broken or worn out. I canceled, I can go to "planet for 1/3 of the price for working equipment.

I love this gym. It is ENORMOUS and clean and not crowded. So many amenities too! If I lived in ABQ, I would be a full-time member. It is better than any of the gyms in NYC. I was a member in high school in the early 2000s and I'm so glad I can still work out there and swim when I'm back in town now. Great GREAT gym.

Daughter and I went asked for a day pass, was told they don’t do that, but bc I was there they would. Unfriendly staff Place is dated. Most gyms give 7 day passes idk. Maybe they based the one day pass on what we look like? We didn’t stay and workout just looked around and left.

This gym has not changed much for the last 35 years; their facilities feel outdated considering the price they charge for memberships and they don’t allow more than two adults at the same household to share a membership which is ridiculous as many people live together and would like to share a membership. Also their process to cancel membership is very cumbersome and ridiculous. I wish we had better high quality gym memberships in town. Sports and wellness definitely leaves something to be desired. I do like their classes though.

Micayla Vargas assistant manager at this club really needs a reality check and to be addressed on her overall attitude towards members and her staff... I've never been spoken to like she spoke to me the other day I will not be returning. Very unhappy with customer service at this club as a manager you should be willing to approach people in a friendly way wanting to fix issues that come up not with any kind of attitude.

i love it, i’ve been here for around 4 months now, i used to go to chuze and snap fitness, chuze was always busy regardless what time you go in and i remember having to wait up to 45 minutes for a squat rack to be free and snap was overpriced for their amenities nothing compares to s&w, yes the prices are higher but you get what you pay for, and honestly this is one of the gyms that is worth paying for. staff can come off a bit rude with costumers but at the end of the day i go to the gym to lift not to socialize with them.

It’s a great club. I’m fat and out of shape. I go sit in the hot tub and then swim a few laps. The place is super clean. They provide deodorant and soap! Be careful though because the free hairspray looks exactly like the deodorant. Positive note here is that my armpit hair stayed put. Seriously though, a great club.

If I could give a one start I would. The staff is extremely disrespectful. What kind of a gym doesn’t allow day passes to try out? Really worthless and I’m canceling my membership in behalf of the front desk who turned us away

It's a nice sized gym. The pool is overall really nice. The reason for the four stars is that there is a ton of outdated and beat up treadmills, and they removed creature comforts like towels in the locker room.

I’ve been going to S&W for over 15 years. They have a a good selection of equipment. However, the showers need to be cleaned more often and the Towels are so-so. The Membership is over priced. The trainers I’ve worked with were very good. They are the reason that I stayed as long as I’ve stayed. Unfortunately, my trainer is leaving, and so am I.

The pride matches what you get. They offer so many amenities and the investment they put back into the business reflects it with the plenty of friendly staff, equipment, and enough space to accommodate several exercise rooms. Love the punching bag when I’m needing to get some punches and kicks out. Pretty much any equipment you can think of is available. The only drawback has been when my roommate has paid and set up autopay, the system or staff member made a mistake, finds were in the account, but never pulled out. Even though the system should show past due when we come, nobody addressed it. Kept money in account just in case it pulled late. He went to update the info just in case, and it’s silly that you have to fill out a form in person, but can call a number and update. With these errors a the staff on site should have more access. He did both methods and even showed his bank screenshot showing funds were there Nothing pulled for October and November, and then we get a letter stating we’re past due and accrued nsf fees. Of course, since not our fault all was waived. Supposedly was updated again, but December it happened again and we had to dispute in January for the fees. For a gym that earns so much per client, the billing system should be a lot better than the one I used at Planet Fitness when I worked there a few years ago... just saying paying $72/month at Sports and Wellness vs $22/month at Planet Fitness. I am considering going to Chuze Fitness over these continuing issues. Almost half the price and still has sauna and steam rooms and I can bring a friend or get a hydro massage. Sports and Wellness was my all time favorite and worth the price to me, buy they need to get their autopay together better.

I love this GYM! The Environment is great and theres a lack of ]how do I put his nicely] The general population of Albuq. That old saying you pay for what you get is very true. Be smart and avoid the contract and just pay month to month so you dont have problems like other people do here. The only thing I dont like about this gym is the dumbells on the right side of the gym STINK! Im not sure if its the rubber used to manufacture them or what but they wreak lol. The gym population as far as fitness levels is very mixed which probably makes it a more comfortable gym if you are new to the gym scene.

Del Norte Sport and Wellness is an awesome place. They have a lot of stair-masters and treadmills in town that I have seen. The towel service is great, because it is provided and no need to bring your own bulky towel. I like that Shampoo, Conditioner and Body is provided in the showers. The steam room is awesome, as well as the pools and jacuzzi. There are a lot of activities to do here. If you ever forget your lotion, feminine supply, hair gel, deodorant or small items, it’s already provided for your healthy lifestyle. This is an amazing place, they also have a cafe provided with super healthy alternatives like sport drinks, protein drink with vegan options as well as for food. This place is the best gym in town. The equipment is great, many machines for different muscles and injury focused equipment as well. They have simple CrossFit gear for a high intensity interval training. The free weights are in a great condition. You get what you pay for, but I would put the money down for my health.

The new hot tub is awesome. Hopeful the stucco as well as the door and window frames encompassing the adult tub either get replaced or refurbished. The rusted and jagged metel on the door and frame leading to the outdoor pool is very sharp and dangerous. It's quite strange that this hasn't been fixed since I first noticed it 11 years ago................
