Amazing friendly staff, clean gym, new equipment and ample parking. Constant cleaning is happening here by ALL; Would highly recommend! I train here about 5-6 times a week and it's the perfect environment for me. I would like to give "props/high five" to SARAHI at the Reception /Check-In desk who has me feel so incredibly special with her compassion. I've been a member since this location opened and I shared my medical journey with her. She understood and offered me hope. I'm a 50 year old military veteran in excellent fitness shape now wearing a heart monitor and struggles with PTSD. Thank you SARAHI for always smiling when I check-in 💖

I've been going to this gym since it first opened and the staff is usually great. This review is solely for Glen, the employee who has just as much authority as the district manager, according to himself. I had an encounter with Glen about a billing issue I had been trying to resolve for a few weeks. He was extremely rude and aggressive throughout the entire process. He expressed to me that he was having a good day until he saw my face and had to deal with me. He also stated that even if he was rude, at least he solved the problem. This is completely unacceptable customer service and after looking through the other reviews on him, I see that I am not the only person he has treated this way.

The gym is well stocked with great equipment. It’s come a long way in the last 20 years! BUT WE WILL NOT JOIN. The front desk “Greeter” had several opportunities to sell 2 memberships and blew both. He whips out his handy laminated card showing the only 2 options for membership. He did NOTHING to make either option attractive or to even TRY to make the situation doable for me and my guest. I was prepared to buy 2 annual memberships AND 1 guest membership for 4 weeks. NOT GONNA HAPPEN. This kid made ZERO effort to make it work. His attitude was “take it or leave it” - after 40 years working in the fitness industry, I’m very aware there are ways to sell. There are managers on site who can waive fees and adjust daily guest rates. We will drive the extra 15 minutes to another gym where the prices are more realistic as compared to the service the staff provides. This guy never mentioned personal training, access to trainers for consultations, he never mentioned the amenities. Why are GREETERS up front doing sales? At $40/monthly plus $100 fee, Defined is in the top tier in Abq and needs to do better.

If you want to live in the 1940s and dive into a pool of toxic masculinity, this gym is for you. I am a man that came in wearing a crop top, and one of the personal trainers thought I wasn’t going to hear him because I was wearing headphones. I didn’t have any music playing yet and he tells the another young boy “you don’t have a shirt like this?” And starts pointing and laughing at me. Sad part is that he is bald with a beer belly. He also brings along young boys to workout with him. I hope they don’t learn from his ways. He needs to start worrying less about me and start working on himself. I won’t cancel my membership because I refuse to let someone push me out of a space where I enjoy to workout. Just be prepared to face people like him. It’s 2022, these people need to get with the times.

This gym is not worth the money you pay a premium price for broken equipment, rude unhelpful employees and it’s super dirty. I had to cancel my membership because Evan a member of the greet team keeps harassing me about my mask when I see him and many others with it down too. if they’re so worried about Covid why don’t they clean their equipment?

Unprofessional employees. Went to sports n wellness for over 10 years and switched to Define to workout with my boyfriend only to be harassed by their yoga instructor (crazy ex’ 🥴). I love working out & enjoy to workout and clear my mind without having to keep a lookout for crazy people. 😑

Most amazing and friendly staff. One of the newest DF locations in town with all new equipment. As an avid exercise person I do feel like the space could be utilized more efficiently for the clientele. The cardio/treadmill area is under used at multiple times throughout the day and the dumb bell rack is at 100% capacity quite often.

I have been going to Defined Fitness now for a month or so. I love it. I love working with the personal trainer, he is really helping me towards my goal on losing weight and getting in shape. He also works with pool training, so we alternate gym then pool.

This define fitness is a joke. They steal your money. They still $500 for me today. They closed down my account. A month ago, because of the pandemic and now they refused to give me my money back. Saying that they are unable to because of other reasons. Not only did I get charged for the account. I got charged for late fee how my supposed to get charged for all that when I don't even have any money to pay for. I'm a disabled vet. And a single dad how are you guys ok with STEALING 500bucks from a disabled person?

The club itself is nice. However the front staff are always talking to each other and when I had a question I was greeted with rudeness and I was talked down to. I went to the riverside club after walking out and they were able to assist me and answer all my questions.

Not sure if it’s management fault but they way over sold memberships and now if you come any time after 5pm there is a wait for just about everything and not normal wait usually over 30 minutes it’s frustrating definitely this place just turned into a high end planet fitness with free weights and a pool

Good enough gym. Usually kept clean. Enough equipment for my needs. I hardly ever have to wait to use the equipment I need. I also love how I often have a pool lane to myself (but wish they would keep the water and room so warm). My only real gripe is that I often hate the music they blast and really wish they would turn it down, but that is a problem at most gyms. Why can’t everyone wear their own headphones? Then we could all listen to whatever we want in peace. I know I could get noise canceling headphones but they are still pricey. Saving up.

Overall the gym has a good selection of equipment and stays pretty clean. Only thing that upset me was when I had to end my contract due to moving out of the country for work. Had a one-year contract. Paid monthly for 11/12 months (about $43 a month) and to cancel my contract I had to pay $100 to buy out the last month. I asked about signing the cancellation documents today, then just paying for next month like normal ($43), and canceling after that (saving me $57). I was told I would have to come in to cancel after next month still, which won’t work. I understand cancellation fees and wouldn’t have had much of a problem buying out the $43 left on my contract. Having to pay more than the rest of the contract is worth just sucks. I wouldn’t have a problem coming back here when I move back stateside but I’m definitely going to shop around a bit before signing anything here.

Location is great, but management is lacking any kind of customer service care. Emailed them per the directions of the staff to inquire of my concerns and no reply. Also spoke to a manager about something else and she seemed nonplussed. Not impressed that a new location can't seem to be in line with the rest of the other locations policies.

I train at this gym on a regular. This location is clean and the staff are welcoming and approachable. I will definitely keep coming to workout here. Shout to Jefte, the maintenance technician for doing an excellent job at making sure the gym equipment is safe and functional for all gym members. I rarely see multiple pieces of equipment out because he is always on it! So great job and keep up the good work!

Being involved in the fitness industry, I have visited many different gyms all over the USA. Some good, some not so good. When I visited Defined Fitness after the change in leadership, I was incredibly blown away by my last experience there. Brad Chavez has made a HUGE impact on not only the maintenance, cleanliness of the gym/equipment. The culture he had created within the staff is what stands out the most. You can tell his team cares about what they do and they care about the member experience! Phenomenal leadership is a rarity in this industry. Lots of respect for Brad and his team at Defined Fitness!

I cannot thank Glen and Michelle enough. After weeks of trying to find answers for my account with no luck, these two immediately jumped into action and fixed all the issues I’d been having. I love this gym so knowing the staff are also willing to step in when needed really solidifies my choice of workout locations !

I really like this place! Everyone at the front desk is super friendly, the bathrooms are CLEAN, and there is a great variety of equipment. It can get packed (like after work around 4:30-5) but there’s always something you can be doing while you’re waiting on a spot or piece of equipment. Lots of different classes. I’ve been a gym nut forever and this is one of the best ones I’ve joined.

This is the best club in the DF franchise. When they built the Rio and Hilltop locations they used this building as the template for the style and layout. The staff at Mesa set them apart from every other location. Everyone is so approachable and friendly and the facility itself is very clean and well maintained. This is a top tier gym experience.

Love this gym, definitely my favorite in the 505! I started going to this gym 6 months after my husband passed away, the gym was definitely out of my comfort zone, especially during my grief! Almost 2 years later, this gym is my therapy, love the staff, always making me feel welcomed! I feel safe here, love the sauna, and love the vibe! I love how the staff calls everyone by their name, feels so welcoming! Renee Padilla

They stick you to a 12-month contract with fees if you cancel early, and they don't fix anything. Of the 30 treadmills, only one or two of them actually have a functioning tv. The men's sauna has been out of service for over a month. Of the 4 massage chairs, only one works at a time if we're lucky. Men's bathroom has leaky faucets, wasting all kinds of water. It's so cold in the gym everyone is wearing sweaters and sweatpants. Men's locker room scale needs replacement. This is supposed to be the high-end gym, which is why they charge high-end prices. Better to go to Planet Fitness or Chuze.

Evan signed me up one year ago almost to this day. I am happy to see him at the Club. Having someone who knows your name, is knowlegable, and is friendly is important when health habits and lifestyle is being changed. I can say most definitely a year later that Mesa is my favorite club of all the DF's in the area because of the people. Capital is my fave facility. The personal connection w/ peeps frm Mesa makes the difference. Cindy, Claire, and Jessica in the personal training dept have me cursing out their names after sessions.

I would give a higher amount of stars but the gym isn't really being cleaned properly or often. During a zumba class there were large hair balls moving around on the floor with the fans going full blast. The family bathrooms I often use to get ready after my workouts. The bathrooms and wet area are dirty and need to be cleaned on a more regular basis. I would like to recognize the great job that the greet team is providing top notch customer service to all members and guests arriving and departing the club. Especially huge shout out to Nora, Tyndall, Angela, Jen and Evan. I look forward to being greeted by each associate with a smile, greeting and hearing them say my name. Kudos to the greet team manager! Woot woot. 😁🎉🫶🏽❤️💪🏽

This gym is nice but I had fraud on my account and was two days late on my payment. The general manager told me I could not use the facilities and made me check out my kids. If I wouldn’t have tried to be transparent with them to let them know my situation that I would get my new card in a few days they probably would have never noticed I went in. I end up finding out there is a 10 day grace period but apparently I wasn’t worthy of that. That’s what I get for being responsible I guess. I was humiliated. I like this location because of Alicia in the kids club. She is so amazing with my kids and always so kind. If the management had the same care of consistency in customer service this place would be much better. If I do go back to this club it will be only because of Alicia in kids club. If it wasn’t for her I would give zero stars

I like this place because it’s location is convenient. However, there are some drawbacks especially if you are an older person, have a disability and you actually need to park close to the facility during peak hours. During the busy times all of the handicapped spaces are taken, quite frequently by vehicles that do not have a handicapped placard visible. They usually don’t have a disabled plate either. This is one of those issues that few able people ever think about but it’s a real problem for a lot of folks. Disabled folks often share their frustration with each other but usually not with the facilities because we are weary of being patronized by businesses who talk but do nothing to implement disabled friendly policies. Another issue is the intense noise in the pool area. My devices always warn me that the noise is over 100 decibels. So I usually have earplugs in when I use the pool. But if I had other sensitivity issues I would never come to this pool. The pool is a little bit dirty too. And one other thing, the locker rooms are very cold. Even if you’re dry. The showers have pathetic water pressure and many of the showers haven’t got enough hot water. Finally, the water massage chairs have never worked properly. It’s astonishing that they still haven’t replaced them all. Maybe it’s considered normal to have all of these issue and still charge a hefty monthly rate but with all of these maintenance issues, why aren’t they addressed?

It's new and we very much wanted to start there but unfortunately we can't bring our elderly mother with us because they don't accept guests. There is a $20 daily pass but it will be way too much for us to pay few days a month extra for her. Update: We signed up for Four people and started going to gym and the pool right away starting beginning of January. The facility is clean but the showers have no hot water, no place to hang our towels, we are yet to try the Sauna cause it's still out of order, no soap in the shower, they have large HVAC vents blowing cold air directly to the pool so the space is super cold and the water doesn't watm up. Getting out of the pool is like stepping into a freezer. 2 out of 4 massage chair don't work. This gym has so much potential to be the best of all Defined fitnesss in Albuquerque because it's new, modern and clean but these details just doesn't help with the experience.

Please do more to protect members privacy in the gym locker rooms and changing areas. Members should have an expectation of privacy while trying to change, however other members seem to find locker rooms as an appropriate place to take pictures of themselves with no consideration towards others. Members shouldn't have to feel the need to change in bathroom stalls for safety and privacy. Designated posing are needed and "No Devices" in the locker room needs to be better enforced.

I was very disappointing. The class election was mediocre. And the hours that they were available were terrible. The place was dirty and badly cleaned. People who are using the gym never cleaned off the equipment, as they were supposed to and nobody was around to enforce it. Totally gross!!! As well from that, there are not enough locations. It was very far from my house and it took too long to get there. I was extremely disappointed overall.

This has to be my worst experience with a fitness center since moving here. Tried to cancel before the 25th. They told me to come in physically. Wasn’t able to come in before the 25th but came in to cancel for the upcoming month. Was told I had to come back. Again. The can’t cancel it... Not going to be living in state anymore and no exception can be made. Guess I’ll just file a chargeback on my credit card and explain my situation.

I don’t live in Albuquerque. I’m here visiting because my Grandfather is in the hospital. While here, I needed a place to workout. I found Defined Fitness and decided to check it out. Called them up to see if they offered daily or weekly passes. They took my info down and told me to come in and I’d be set to go. I arrived and was pretty impressed by what I saw just walking in. The one thing that bummed me out though was that they did not offer anything other than monthly memberships and one free day pass to try the gym out. However the staff was cool and said they would notate my account and I could come back tomorrow (which I plan on doing). The gym overall was super nice. Very clean. Has excellent equipment and an overall great atmosphere. The hydro massage chairs were pretty awesome too. If I lived here I’d join this gym in two seconds. Wish you were in Las Vegas, Nevada. If you were I’d sign up right away.

Defined Fitness Mesa has been my go-to gym for a few months now and I only have positive things to say about it. I’m always greeted by a friendly face and a “have a great workout” as I walk in, the locker rooms are spacious and always pristine, the workout equipment is new and kept in good repair, and the overall atmosphere of the entire gym is welcoming and comfortable. If you’re looking for a personal trainer I highly recommend Andrea! She has been an invaluable support and resource in my personal fitness and wellness journey.

My child sat and cried for me while the “child care” ladies sat, watched him and did not attend to his needs. It was very unsettling to witness. When I went to cancel my membership the manager told me he watched tho whole situation and didn’t do anything about. I was told at sign up that they waive late fees for their member often and not to worry but cancelation fee are different because I had to advocate for my 2 yo. I was told snacks and drinks are okay and they had me take his comfort drink away. If you’re looking for a gym to actually care for your toddler I wound not suggest the gym, or at least this location. The manager said that if they tried to pick up a crying baby we’d be having a different conversation. Hmmm wonder what that meant. Hope they do criminal background checks for their employees here. Very unsettling! Horrible experience to a new person of the state and city!

The gym has rooms labeled "family changing rooms," but manager Mariah says children are not allowed to go there, even if accompanied by their parents. I wonder what strange concept of family they have, which must exclude children. Daycare personnel and other employees think it is ok for children and their parents to use those rooms/restrooms, so Mariah has not notified them of her strict and irrational views. The pool area had a sign that said minors 12 years and under can be there with an accompanying adult. When I brought this up, she had the sign be covered with tape. There are some maintenance and communication issues, because there is no hot tub in this location, and this is not advertised, the pool water is sometimes too cold, 2 out of 4 massage beds were not working today, but what I care about the most is for rules always being clear, rational, and consistent. I hope to continue my membership with them regardless because their location is convenient for me and my little daughter likes their daycare.

Nice, new, clean gym, but the free-weight area should have been built twice the size it is now. Always extremely crowded during the week. Staff is nice tho. Seems like the stair stepper machines are down a lot, but I have only been going here a couple months. The massage chairs are nice after a workout, which they didn't have at the metro location. I also appreciate the disposable wet towels and trash cans everywhere so you can wipe down surfaces after each use. My last issue is that the hours are really short unless you are an early morning person, but it's the same at all defined locations I've been to.

The yoga instructor on Sunday, 8/7/22, used loud, dancing type music for the class. This was very distracting as yoga should be calm and relaxing. I am accustomed to soft, gentle, calm and relaxing music for yoga. In yoga one is supposed to focus on mind/body and breathing with the poses.

I am usually not the fitness place kind of person. I have been a runner for most of my life.. However, since turning 65 I have to do more strength and bone supporting exercises. Defined has every machine, you can think of. They offer classes that uses weights and some classes adjust for people that need to go a little slower. Also like the fact they have a pool and hot tub for a low impact exercise.

Excellent Gym - Don't pay attention to the 1 star reviews, probably people who don't follow rules (Mask) and are really picky in life. The staff is fantastic, I always see them talking with gym goers. All the negative reviews about poor customer service are honestly bullcrap! You wont regret going here. The dude that complained about being overcharged probably didn't realize there's an annual fee towards the end of the year, so yeah...one bill will be a little high but thats all explained to you when you sign up! he obviously didn't pay attention.

Julian was an amazing host! I stopped in to get a little bit of information about the gym and learn about what kind of services defined fitness provides, and Julian helped me out with a tour. He made me feel really comfortable in the environment even though I wasn't a member yet, gave just enough information in a way that was understandable and memorable, and I can tell that he loves being here and helping people in the gym (which is always welcoming). Not only that but this gym has an outstanding devotion to athletes of all ages, sizes, and interests and I'm shocked it took me so long to stop by. Thank you for all your help Julian, and keep up the fantastic work you're doing!

I've been there a few times but there isn't a whirpool and steam room. The gym is nice and modern but I'm not going to flip tires or do group classes. The hydro massage tables are not cleaned often enough.

I went to this defined fitness to check it out and compare prices. It's a pretty new gym so everything looks nice, pool is very quiet from what we saw but after our tour the whole experience felt like a sales pitch. We sat down who started asking lots of yes questions like most sales, after asking a set of these questions he pulled out the chart and explained how it would basically be 1200dls a year for me and my wife! In addition there was a yearly charge. When we did the math and starting discussing our options his attitude changed and it was obvious he just wanted us out. We decided to go with a much cheaper gym, only difference is it doesn't have a pool.

Update: It’s been 3 weeks since i left this review and the issue with the Hydro massage chairs still hasn’t been fixed, not a single one of them works properly and i don’t see any effort from Defined fitness to resolve this issue. Defined has no problem charging us for the yearly fee which is supposed to cover for broken equipment but the hydro massage chairs are always down, equipment gets removed but doesn’t get replaced quickly.

Whatever you did to your group class room sound system is going to make people quit going to classes for real. The music kept cutting out like the speakers were not built certain sounds. I drive a legit distance to attend my favorite class here and this cacophony would have ruined my evening if the instructor wasn't so cheerful and humorous about the debacle. The manager was notified of the malfunctions during class and heard the malfunctions himself. I saw the instructor telling him what adjustment to make to get the music clear again as she could not access it herself, but he did not help. He made some kind of excuse and walked out. Please fix your sound system.

Great new gym! Every machine you can think of. A tin of classes to choose from. Personal trainers. Locker rooms are spectacular. Daycare can be a little difficult to get your children into, more times than not there is a wait, as they are at capacity. Maybe hire more staff? Could also be that they legally cant have more than x amount of children in the room at a time. Love the new hydro massage chairs.

My cousin who is also a member, was training me for free, showing me how to use the equipment there and after a few weeks, the manager came up to us to tell us we were being spotted by them the entire time. They made sure he wasn’t getting paid for teaching me. But it made me feel really uncomfortable knowing we were being watched the whole time. Will be going to Riverside instead.

Not enough free weight equipment and more cardio equipment than anyone would ever use. Have massage beds that never work!!!!. To much empty floor space.

Love this gym and the option for child care. My son loves coming here and asks to go all the time. Great way to workout and have your children taken care of and safe.
