👍👍 Nice hiking/mountain biking trails. The park and the parking lot are only open from 9-5 so bring water. The 3 volcanoes 🌋 are separate from the petroglyphs, and I don’t know if the trails connect. Generally an enjoyable hike for me, a little bit of elevation on/around the volcano mounds. People often mention trail, hike, views, trails, volcanoes, climb,

This place is amazing but falls short of it's potential. There's a 2-3 mile loop / hike to visit all of the volcanoes. The trail is well maintained and wide enough to reduce snake concerns. My family really enjoyed the hike. Great for kids. The hike is very easy and leisurely for the most part. There's only one somewhat step section near the northernmost volcano. The views are amazing. You can see all of Albuquerque and the Rio grande valley. Not much in the way of shade, so I wouldn't recommend going in the middle of summer. If you do, go early in the morning. Shoulder season is best. Temps were in the 60s for us in early October and that was perfect! Where this falls short? You can only climb one of the 4 volcanos. They have the old trails blocked off that used to climb the volcanoes. We were so disappointed by this. My kids were really bummed out as well. You used to be able to climb them about 5-10 years ago. It's very disappointing that they blocked the paths of to the top and put scary signs about arresting you if you go beyond them. I would engage the administration to reopen the trails to the tops of the volcanoes so the full experience can be had. I'm not sure of the reasoning since people have climbed them for thousands of years until very, very recently. Feels like government overreach to me. You don't typically see this stuff in other countries. Our family was bummed out. Easily 5 stars with the full experience. Still with going though and at least you can climb one of them, though it is one of the smaller ones.

loved our time here! i had been once before and only did one trail/never even stopped in the visitor center. this time, we stopped at the visitor center, i got a junior park ranger book (fun for any age!), our dog got an amazing BARK Ranger Bandana (free) and we found out 3 of the 4 trails (Volcano area, included) were dog friendly! we made our way around the park and really enjoyed seeing the petroglyphs and the scenery!

A “plain” and simple place to hike, basically you see endless plain, and three volcano. Bring your kids with you, this is a live geographic text book type of place that your kids will be amazed more than you.

An outstanding treasure to visit. Our visit was very informative and scenic. The Ranger at the Visitor center was very helpful and made sure to give us directions to each Petroglyph site as well as the Volcanic area. Breathtaking views were par for the course at each of our stops.

I visit the Volcanoes on a regular basis and always find it so fascinating. The view of Albuquerque from up there puts things in perspective and makes you appreciate living in the Burque. It's an easy walk on a groomed trail from the parking lot to the JA overlook. The trail heading toward the Black Volcano becomes more difficult. The trail has washed Away in the center from erosion and further up are Rick's the size of golf balls to footballs that make up the trail surface.

Nicely marked trail, relatively easy paths. There are some steep and rocky parts (they are volcanoes), but my husband has physical disabilities and was able to walk all the trails just fine. The views of Albuquerque are amazing, especially seeing all the leaves changing along the Rio Grande river.

Easy hike with interesting views. Bring water and go early, as there is minimal shade.

Love this area! It's perfect for a family walk or visiting with friends or family in town. The terrain is perfect for all skill levels and fun to find the petroglyphs in the rocks.

Nice views to Albuquerque and maintains behind it. I've made Five Volcanoes trail, which is ok, but it was super windy, so be prepared if you plan a hike in this location.

Hit the northern trail and the volcano trail. Easy to do in one day. Tip: Start at the visitor center to get maps and advice. All sites are free.

Short or long hike with your dog. Covered stops along the way. Can climb onto rocks at the middle volcano.

Nice place for a hike with great city views. Parking lot does have bathrooms. October thru end of April...other times it's too hot

Travel to “Volcanoes Day Use Parking” which is always open, even holidays. Paved road thru to parking area and three hikes begin from the parking lot, all under 3 miles. Watch for snakes.

This is a nice hiking destination and not far from ABQ. Summer is hot and need to bring adequate water.

I found the hike to the volcanoes beautifully empty and scenic. It takes just a few minutes to drive from downtown Albuquerque to an open landscape with painting-like views of the entire valley.

One of my fav hiking trails during the spring. Gets a little too hot in the afternoons for during the summer

Great hike . . . Some parts are challenging but not all of the parts are tough so that's what makes it good. Great view on a blue skies day!

Was nice place, can do in a 1-3 hours to see the whole thing, has benches along the way if you need to stop.
