My favorite place to eat in all of New Mexico. This taqueria serves excellent food which is both high quality & has an amazing flavor profile. Something happened though…. They have gotten very stingy with salsa, once upon a time they had an unlimited open salsa bar oasis of flavor & heat. Now you get one tiny ounce of salsa for every 3 tacos you order. Additional salsa costs 70 cents which isn’t much however with the price paid to get 4 or 5 tacos getting one little ounce is a joke. Whatever you think you’re saving in food cost your losing big time in goodwill with customers. Spent over a 100$ with a party of 7 and we were given 4 small cups of salsa. We asked for an additional 2 or 3 more and rather than making this meal for us we were told to go purchase additional salsa. So now our whole experience is tainted. Went back in line to purchase salsa for tacos. Had to wait in line, didn’t get to enjoy the meal or company. My hope is you change it to one salsa for every two tacos. And if we’re all seated and we’re short a salsa just hand out an additional salsa or two. Portion size has also gone down in the course of the last year or so. Please don’t lose what once made el cotorro the absolute best.

From the moment we walked in, Nadine was amazing and sold us on the vegan green chile calabactias taco, so good! Micheladas, tacos and the vegan coconut ice cream were amazing! We'll be back!

Lamb barbacoa and al pastor burritos were unique and delicious! The price was too steep for me, but if I were to win the lottery I'd definitely go again!

I haven't been here in over a year but I was just remembering their tacos. My wife obviously likes their elotes. And the micheladas are tasty. It's always a good time there. Try the fried nopales tacos.

Amazing tacos of all kinds. All the ingredients are fresh and very well prepared, including the tacos shells themselves. The service is very friendly and very fast. Didn't try the gelato but it is also made in house and looked delicious.

Worth a try! Flavorful selection of tacos and variety of ice cream. Vegan ICE CREAM!! Tacos are small, get three for an average appetite. Portions are small and pricey but still worth it for the taste. Price is the only reason it’s not 5 Stars.

We are vegetarian- all veggie tacos were EXCELLENT! High quality everything, amazing tortillas for the tacos, novel ingredients. They are a little skimpy with the salsa, but I get it

So delicious! I had the fish taco special (pan seared mahi mahi), the vegan soy chorizo and potato taco, and the chicken tinga taco. The handmade corn tacos are so fresh and crispy. Thank you, El Cotorro!

This was my first time here. WOW. Why have I never been here before??? The tacos were so flavorful, it's insane. Almost didn't need salsa because they were so good but hey, the salsa was also good! This is what taco dreams are made of 😍😍😍

Were just wandering around near our AirBnB, decided that when in Rome... :) Had a carnitas taco, braised oxtail taco, elote, margarita, and a Desert Fog IPA from the local Marble Brewery. Everything was delicious, good chance we'll be stopping in again during our trip even though there are loads of restaurants here. A huge shout out to our server (so sorry I didn't get your name!) for giving us recommendations for other good local eats, especially where we might find some decent mole... Stay tuned...

Really wanted to rate one star however I am fair and a business owner myself. I love to support local and I love my city. What got me is we spent $79 on tacos and she “the manager” gave us three salsas total for 15 tacos. This is BURQUE! Charged us .75 cents per extra salsa. Just posting an honest review. $79 is a lot of money for tacos and no salsa. I will say the patio is nice and the cooks did well.

Customer service was superb they were attentive, patient and friendly, we had a pleasant and fun attitude. We return the second time and plan to go a third time this week..The experience is one of a kind presentation was gorgeous, your tastebuds will dance and sing with a bit of spice if chosen what a spectacular & delicious taste they have there. Having Chef Javier Romero is an amazing blessing, he is a true gem amongst our city, congratulations on your FIRST Place 🥇 AWARD for best vegetarian tacos in all of Albuquerque We for-see he could likely own his own restaurant and/or taco truck chains.

My first ever elote and nopale experience. Yum does not begin to describe it! Clean and friendly service. Flavor pairings are absolutely off the hook. Young hip demographic. I met friends here for lunch who were visiting from Portland and we all agreed we felt like we were back there. Parking is scarce so plan accordingly. It's well worth it!

Really good drinks and service. We ordered 5 different tacos. The handmade tortillas and flavor was great but the meat was cold and not made fresh to order. Would stick with the chips and salsa.

Loved the elote corn and the gelato. On my first review I said this wouldn’t be my goto for tacos and that El Paisa’s were much better. Since then, I’ve absolutely fallen in love with their braised oxtail and lamb barbacoa tacos. Like I could eat them every week they are so good. I also love the horchata! Would certainly pop in for a glass of that and the elote, but those oxtails tacos call my name!

Best tacos in town. Helps that I live down the street. Been coming to this Nob Hill eatery for years. Great staff. Better food.
