This is not at all Indian food, but a poorly mocked version. I had Chicken biryani last night from here and I got sick. Please don't fool the people of this city with your so-called Indian food.

Worst chicken biryani I ever had. It smelled like bell pepper curry.

This is one of my top all-time favorite places to stop in for lunch when I'm in albuquerque. The lunch buffet is not gigantic but it does have all the classic Indian cuisine items you would want. The staff are always friendly and the restaurant decoration is beautiful. The buffet is open for quite a number of hours during the middle of the day. While it is not billed as a vegetarian buffet I would say that a full half of the items would probably be okay for a vegetarian who might want to join you for lunch.

My friends and I ordered chicken biryani but I think they gave us chicken pulao by mistake. Because I've never had a self respecting biryani with green peas, bell peppers and green beans

Absolutely delicious!! Everything was great here. The buffet options were refilled quickly. Excellent service. All the chicken options were great wish there was something else beside chicken! Would definitely come back here!

I haven't had a lot of Indian food in the past, so I tried the lunch buffet to get a sampling. Everything I tried was good, and they were fairly busy so the food was constantly being replenished and was hot and fresh. Nothing was too spicy, but I was a little surprised to see beef meatballs on the menu. I did not see any prices for the lunch buffet, so I was surprised when I got the check and it was $15.95 plus the cost of my drink. The service was good, though, and they immediately replaced my drink after they accidentally took it away before I was done.

Nice lunch buffet. They offer good quality food. If you don't like buffets they have a tremendous menu and plenty of authentic Indian beverages including alcoholic beverages if that's what you desire. Very friendly staff, nice family owned business and it is very clean (this is high on my priority list). Worth the trip. Lunch buffet is around $15 a piece and definitely a good value for your money. The buffet has about six entrees salad items, chutneys, naan bread and a traditional dessert item. If you enjoy good homemade Indian food this is worth your time. I say yum yum and yummy. Maybe you'll see me there I'm a frequent visitor I never have had a complaint about the food or service.

You’re greeted very well as you enter. Our server was great. Took the order very nicely and food came accurate. The food taste alright, they don’t adjust the spice level, it’s just one spice level that they serve. The keema naan was great except it could have more salt and spice. I think they don’t just cater to Indians, their clientele is more Americans. The owner (I think) was present in the restaurant and was reaching out to customers to ask if everything is alright. One of the guys(server) had a very casual attitude. You don’t expect that at a fine dine.

I'll be honest, I have never tried Indian food in my 34 years of life until yesterday at this place. The food was different I'll just say that. My taste buds were going wild with all the different spices I was not used to. Pretty interesting! I wasn't even sure what I was eating haha. But this buffet was nice and the relaxing atmosphere was cool too. The staff was attentive and made sure we were ok as we ate. I give it 4 stars because I thought it was a little pricey for two people but overall if Indian food is your thing I'll recommend you come here to eat.

Fantastic food. The servers were very attentive and the chef that took my order checked on me after I finished. If I could give this place 6 stars, I would.

This cuisine isn’t my favorite, but I will give credit where it’s due. I bring friends and family here when they’re visiting and always have a great meal. They’ve won several awards for best Indian Cuisine in Albuquerque and they very well deserve each award.

Coming from India, I would say this was the WORST indian restaurant who got the basic daal wrong. Aloo gobi as well was worst and unlike anything I ever had. To my shock, they added food color in daal & aloo gobhi which made them look orange. Please dont go blindly by the indian restaurant ratings unless they come from an Indian. We left hungry and disappointed!

I’m an independent contractor, and I pick-up and deliver food to customers. I rate restaurants and fast food places based (ONLY) on professionalism, cleanliness, speed, accuracy, and extra services. This store received 5 STARS for meeting all the expectations above. This was my second visit for the day. This place never disappoints me. They mean serious business. The moment you enter the store, you are greeted immediately, it’s very welcoming and they make you feel valued. I would have to try their food myself next time and rate the quality of their food.

Oh my yum! We ordered two vegetarian dishes to go. They were hot (temp) and delicious, I even did a little dance it was so tasty. We can get two meals out of each curry dish we ordered, I’m very pleased and will be coming back! Thanks for the great meal when we REALLY didn’t want to cook:)

I joined several friends for a birthday celebration here. The service was great. Actually too many servers so it seemed a bit chaotic at times. I had the lamb kabob but it was more like a lamb meatball. Would have preferred something with a sauce as it was a bit dry and there was a lot of food. Took it home and made it with rice and veggies the next day and it was delicious. My friends all tried other dishes and loved them. The atmosphere was nice but it seemed a bit messy - wall hangings were crooked, the buffet was not being used to serve food so it appeared to become a catch all. Nice mix of vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes so many different needs can be met here.

As always, the food was delicious. The service was excellent. It was a bit chilly downstairs and we mentioned it to the staff. They turned off the cooler. We had a well behaved four year old with us who was cold and suddenly a small space heater appeared behind her. Very caring staff. Highly recommend!!

We absolutely loved the selections they have in their lunch buffet. Everything was well seasoned. Vegetarian options available. They bring out fresh batches often and the staff are very helpful. They offer tons of seating for any size party. Price is not bad at around $18 or so with tax for the lunch buffet. Taj Mahal will be one of our frequent stops in Albuquerque.

Visited on a weekday evening and had a great experience. We were seated immediately and the wait staff was very friendly and helpful. All the food was amazing. We really enjoyed the garlic naan and our chicken dishes. Definitely need to visit again to try more of their dishes and also for the lunch buffet.

We ordered Chicken curry and plain naan along with dahi Bhalla and shahi chicken briyani. The food was well packed and an average affair. I was really disappointed with shahi chicken briyani. I am absolutely annoyed with restaurants selling anything in the name of authentic food. They are selling a poorly made version of pulao or fried rice with Indian spices disguised as a briyani. I will hope, they will update their menu or improve on their food to actually serve briyani. See picture of may be the closest I can call it is a pulao or fried rice with vegetables and overcooked chicken cubes. (Unlike the authentic briyani). Rest of the food was cleanly prepared but nothing special.

The channa masala and Malai Kofta were great. Malai Kofta is the usual litmus test I judge Indian restaurants. This was spot on. If your a big fan of naan then I’d probably skip this place. I was surprised the naan wasn’t better.

I cannot say enough good things about the food. The dishes I ordered were superb! The man who brought out the main dish was very friendly, the owner or chef maybe. Service on the other hand was inattentive at best, and I’m being very generous in this area. I waited some time to be seated after speaking to 3 wait staff (8:00 p.m.). All of them said they had a rush but no clean tables. Not one of them made an effort to clear a table for me or the 2 other parties waiting. When I was finally seated, I had to wait for that table to be cleaned as it was also dirty. I also waited until after my order arrived to receive silverware and a napkin. You seem to have a great restaurant with amazing food, I hope these servers were just new or something.

Solid menu of delicious Indian food. Picking up take out orders can be slow when the servers are busy with during peak dinner rush, but the food is worth the wait. The garlic naan and goat tandoori are especially good!

RUINED our whole meal , we just left ASAP. the waiters and mangers didnt even seem to care at all when brought it up!

I used to love Taj Mahal. However, recently they've been very stingy on their lunch buffet take out to the point of disrespectful. Visited the place today and the guy (probably the owner) said that I could only get 3 piece of chicken (where does it say that? when asked, he told us to "be reasonable") for the lunch buffet, where it has not been the norm throughout years of eating here. Guy said that he should "probably weigh the container" and proceed to tell us "where else can you find this place to eat? what if we close tomorrow then you wont have anything to eat". I asked another customer about the guys name and I believe his name is Benchode. Furthermore, they have, on multiple occasions, "forgot" to include the deserts, and once confronted, told us that we could only have 1 (party of 2), which was BS because it was included in the meal for each of us. Be wary of this guy, do not let him bully you. Stand up for yourself and demand your money's worth.

our favorite place for indian food, during normal times its always a great experience coming here specially for the buffet. we ordered take out and everything was delicious as always. cant wait for covid to be over, to be able to come and sit down again and have a great lunch or dinner with family and friends and receive a great experience by all the wonderful people that work here, including the owners that always around talking to customers and helping out.

OMG! Good restaurant. Clean , nice works and their buffet is the best worth the wait. Call ahead to make sure they have room to accommodate you and your party. I went around noon on Sunday and it was Poppin.

I would give 2 stars based on the takeout/delivery experiences alone, but I’ve been going to this restaurant for several years, and never had the problems I’ve been having as of late. I chalk it up to the pandemic, and I pray the following problems will be addressed ASAP: Dry chicken. I ordered multiple dishes with chicken, and all of the chicken was dry. Like freezer burn dry, not overcooked dry (yes, there’s a difference). Spices and flavors, all there, but the protein was chewy and gross. Old veggies. You know that weird taste when you cook with questionable veggies? YeH. Rampant in my food. Onions were fresh, almost raw. But veggies overall, *ahem* barf. Y’all have such great food, generally!!!! Please stop serving freezer meats and rotted vegetables. Just, stop. I will try again in a few months, and hopefully update my review to something more positive.

DON'T GO HERE. WORST service ever! I ordered nd payed online then went to pick it up, got an email saying order was ready with confirmation. Told guy name on order and what I ordered and the total. He refused to give me my order then stated the names didn't match after I stated first name does but not my fault your system shortened the name. I showed him my confirmation and email as well and that still want enough. He then stated oh well someone could have ordered the exact same thing as you. I literally had to grab my food and walk out. NEVER AGAIN.

Worst food. Naan is not at all good. No taste nothing. From appetizers to entree it gets worst instead of better. Please make better food and take opportunity to grow in this city. If people of this city eat Indian food anywhere else in the country you will be closed it’s that pathetic food. Please send this message to your chef. Wasted money.
