I have been wanting to visit this place since I first saw a photo of their amazing Route 66 sign. The food and the warm welcome live up to the great first impression! I particularly enjoyed the green chile cheeseburger! And save room for ice cream and pie!

I'm never going back! I've never seen such a disgusting and dirty area behind the counter! All the ice cream bins had no covers the milkshake machine looked liked it hadn't been cleaned in hours. The hot chocolate bin was wide opened and looked like it hadn't been changed? I saw a waitress spray cleaning solution all around and in-between the uncovered ice cream bins. They left a cleaning rag right on an open ice cream bin lid. There was a table that wasnt cleared and looked like it been sitting there for a while? I watched one young waitress folding t-shirts instead of doing any cleaning? Pray no one gets sick from you icecream or milkshakes since they were all contaminated with cleaning solution

Was driving through town and wanted to check this place out and it was a good idea that we stopped by. I really liked the old school diner vibe of the restaurant. I ordered the 66 burger with potato salad and it was amazing. The waitress and the other staff were very professional. I really liked how they had pez dispenser for decoration. They also sold some and gave some extra pez to my daughter. Thank you!

This diner is a must see when following Route 66. It takes you back to the 50s. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. If you are a vegan or vegetarian, you can order a Beyond Burger, which has no meat in it. I highly recommend any pie from here, especially the cherry pie with a scoop of ice cream.

Coming from Germany, visiting this classic Route 66 diner is a must. The place has much nostalgia but preserves its originality and does not come across too much as a „tourist place“. Also, food is good and prices are 👍🏻.

We had a great time at 66 Diner! Such friendly folks and a cool 50s throwback feel. We devoured the open face smothered burger (Southwest). It came out PIPING HOT. We had it with a side of chili cheese fries. Also hot and tasty! The Fender Bender (1/2 of Pile Up) sounded great, but it was a bummer. The potatoes and all the toppings (even the egg) were all room temp. Zero salt or seasoning on anything, not even the egg. I think if it was hot it would have been better. They were so nice though and brought us something else, so excellent service in the end! We finished with a slice of decadently rich chocolate cake and mint ice cream. Looking forward to going back on my next cross country road trip!

Very busy little spot with great service, ambiance, and food! A group of 7 of us went on a Friday at 12:30pm and had to wait about 20 minutes then were seated in the back room that looks like an old garage. Super cool decor! Our waitress was Sara and she was fantastic, just loved her!! We ordered chicken nuggets for the kids, a various selection of burgers, a hot ham and cheese sandwich, a meatloaf sandwich, and the turkey sandwich along with fried okra as an appetizer. Everything was delicious! The turkey sandwich was not what I expected but tasted amazing, I would definitely get it again. It was shaved turkey with Swiss cheese and green chilis on toasted TX toast - YUM! The fries were crispy. No complaints from our table 😋

This place was fun to check out! It was neat to go to a historic Route 66 restaurant. The vibe is really cool, with the retro features and neon lighting, etc. Our meals were pretty tasty, and the kids really enjoyed their shakes. We ended up getting there later and the staff was friendly about us staying past closing time, which was appreciated after our drive.

Wait staff was very friendly. We were waiting a really long time for our food and they gave us free dessert. The appetizer that's fries with green chili and cheese was super good and fresh. I ordered the open face green chili and cheese burger and a side of cream of green chili soup. The burger was dry and not seasoned well. The bun was very dry and almost crumbly. Fries were not as fresh tasting as the app. Soup was average. We got the coconut cream pie and carrot cake for dessert. Those were both super yummy. Cool place with a fun vibe. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day. Would try again.

Must get the shake! It's got a great density and creaminess to it. The pileup is not meant for one person unless you're starving and need as much volume you can get. We took the leftovers and it fed the two of us for breakfast lol. Burger and fries met my expectations, but I wish the bread was a bit toastier. Super cool vibes, and a fun place to eat!

Let’s be clear. This isnt rated 5 stars for the food. The food is good - it’s solid. Upper end Diner food. Perfect. The rating is for the experience. Wonderful! Pure nostalgia. And if you look close at the indoor pictures - the upper shelf there are hundreds of different Pez dispenser’s. Try to find that… anywhere. I had the smash burger - see pic - he had the chicken fried steak - no pic- he devoured it too fast before i took pics. val

Loved the atmosphere! Lots of vintage decor. It use to be a route 66 gas station. As a Diner it looks and feels like you've stepped back in time. They give you plenty to eat......come hunger!

Amazing 50’s vibe; the place to visit when you are doing the historic Route 66. The staff is super friendly and the milkshakes are delicious. Definitely something to try! (Gave it a 4 star since I found the fries a bit salty but this is personal taste)

Come for the nostalgic atmosphere, friendly staff, and the incredible $11.99 9-scoop banana split. If you’re looking for a 1950’s Route 66 diner experience in Albuquerque this is your place. The banana split is probably the best deal in the U.S.A. — you get *9 scoops* (yes…nine!) of creamy and delicious ice cream with all the banana split fixings for $11.99 (as of December 2023). You can barely get a 2 scoop ice cream cone for that price at most ice cream parlors these days! It’s easily shareable between 4-6 people. Food was pretty standard diner quality. We had the green chili burger and meatloaf. The onion rings, fried okra and fries were delicious. You’ll have a great time 😁

UPDATE: Blueberry cobbler is the bomb!! Homemade with real blueberries. Highly recommend. Must try with extra scoop or two of vanilla ice cream! We went on a Sunday for lunch around noon. Thankfully it wasn’t packed like others were saying. It was clean and service was great. Prices were reasonable and food is good but not spectacular. I got the fender bender which is good but maybe too much potatoes for my liking. Bf got 66 burger with chili fries. He said burger and fries are decent. I def recommend getting their shakes even though it seems slightly pricy but you get a good amount. I left with blueberry cobbler to go (not yet eaten at time of this review). Cute diner with yummy shakes.

Come for the experience. The service here was top-rate excellent. The food was pretty good. Onion rings and my fried chicken sandwich were a little overcooked for my taste, but my wife's grilled chicken sandwich was excellent. While eating, we enjoyed the appropriately themed decor and music from the 60s. The music was a little loud, but not overbearing. While it's not cheap to eat here, I do recommend it.

Wait staff was amazing. Our waitress was very friendly and she did a fantastic job taking care of us. The food was okay at best. Nothing terribly special here. Maybe we caught them on a bad afternoon? About 5:30 the place started filling up with people from all walks of life. The ambiance was great, as was the impressive collection of Pez dispensers! Don’t go out of your way for this neat little diner but do stop by if you’re in the area.

Traveling through San Antonio and staying around the corner. Golf partner had been here before, my first time . What a great place. The decorations, waitress uniform, music, bar stools at the counter really made this feel like the 50's/60's vibe. Waitress Grace was really nice. We both had chicken fried chicken. Breaded and cooked perfectly. Milkshakes for dessert topped off a great meal experience. Highly recommend Route 66 cafe. You won't be disappointed 👍

I have been obsessed with Route 66 ever since I read about it as a child. My kids and I did a Route 66 road trip a few years ago but somehow missed this place. I'm in the area again and I had to come here before I left. It is so cute and so classic. I absolutely loved it. I had the green chile cheeseburger with fries and a banana cream pie shake. It was classic diner food; very nostalgic and I left feeling way too full. Every staff member that I interacted with seemed genuinely friendly. If I were going to be here longer I would definitely come back.

Love this place! Our go to when we want a fabulous malt or diner type nostalgic food. Always love to take visitors of our city to enjoy such a fun place. Be sure to take your appetite and save room for dessert as they have so much to choose from, between pie and shakes and malts... Fabulous!

First time I’ve ever heard of smothered burgers. Let me tell you something… the southwest burger smothered in queso and green chiles was a route to heaven. The chili cheese fries were also good. Of course it wouldn’t be a blast to the past without some pie. The chocolate crème pie was a perfect finish to a great dining experience. My friend had the strawberry ice cream and he has nothing but positive things to say as well. Let him tell it. Shout out to our beautiful server Julia for the great service. If I ever come back to the ABQ Im definitely revisiting this place.

Haven't eaten food there in a min but I remember it being good. Was there for the shakes! Awesome assortment of flavors and combos...wanted to sit at the counter but they had closed signs on it. But still overall good experience and great shakes.

We had a fun experience here. It's nice to take in all the decorations and enjoy the diner vibe. Our burger and shake were both delicious!

Food was amazing...truly old school diner. Had the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies. Mashed potatoes were real not rehydrate from a box veggies were well seasoned. Delicious! My sister had the 66 burger *chefskiss super flavorful . Had the Pina colada shake honestly the best shake I've had. Super thick and yummy. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Also servers were so sweet and attentive.

Absolutely loved this place! Proper, authentic old school American Diner. Huge portions, great milkshakes and amazing desserts. The staff were amazing. Taylor and Mani were great to talk to and we watched them making the desserts.

Last night was our first time eating here at the diner and unfortunately we chose a crazy busy night. They were crazy busy due to the Twinkle Light parade ✨️ however our wait to be seated and for our food was well worth it! The aesthetic was absolutely perfect! Loved all the retro decor, and especially the Elvis themed case! Our burgers, fries and shakes were absolutely amazing! All staff was extremely friendly and I can't wait to go again!

A really fun stop, especially if you're a Route 66 enthusiast. The diner has been created out of an old gas station. Fun mid-century vibe, clean as a whistle, and very friendly service. We had a special grilled cheese sandwich for lunch that was one of the best we've ever had.

  • 5/5 Kari C. 1 year ago on Google
Food was excellent! Extra large portions and absolutely delicious! Try the Pile Up or Fender Bender (that's half of a Pile Up and I couldn't finish it all) if you like green chiles and some heat. The seasonal special Pumpkin milkshake was like drinking a pumpkin pie. Chocolate covered strawberry shake lived up to its name too. Half size of those was plenty too. Best chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken I have had since my grandma made me some. The service was outstanding too. The atmosphere is fun too! Lots to look at. Elvis history and Pez dispenser galore. Fun for young and old alike. Watch a movie like Cars or Back to the Future or Karate Kid with your kids and then take them here to experience the drive in diner vibe and some great food. Don't snack first - they won'tbe able to eat it all!! If doing a Rt 66 site seeing trip, definitely put this on your list. The area of town around it is lit in neon at dark. So neat! We will make this a regular stop on trips to ABQ from now on. Highly recommend!

Mom took me here for breakfast one morning. Boy! I'm amazed I had the New Mexican omelet, the bell peppers in that omelet is amazing! There is a choice of red or green chili, I got the green. I can not emphasis enough how delicious the breakfast is here! Tastes like home cooking! Very good food, highly recommend. You got to try this place! My rye toast was highly satisfying. I'm definitely going back to try other items on menu.

This restaurant lives up to the AAA recommendations regarding being a very good recreation of the 1950's diners experience. We loved it! Food and service were excellent!!! Please support establishments like the Route 66 Diner that help to keep the Route 66 experience alive!!!

Can’t get much better than this, food is comforting, was a little shocked that at 11:15am they were out of onion rings given the place opens at 11am. Pretty cool little diner though. I got a caramel apple deluxe milkshake that was top notch.

  • 5/5 Josh E. 8 months ago on Google
The food here is fantastic. Reliable quality and execution. I’ve never gotten something poorly cooked or mishandled. Great staff, and the place is always clean. I could live without the music however. Constantly playing oldies gets, old.

  • 3/5 LaRhonda M. 10 months ago on Google
I honestly wasn't much on the food, it was actually quite bland. So was my boyfriends. He got the meatloaf plate and looked and tasted like Salisbury. I didn't like the fact that they let animals into the restaurant, I find it unsanitary. Other than that the nostalgia was cool.

  • 5/5 Federico S. 1 year ago on Google
This is absolutely a great diner, one of the best where we have stopped during our trip on Route 66! The food was not pre-cooked but was made fresh at our order and the cheeseburger, onion rings and okra were awesome! Inside the diner you get a real atmosphere of the '50s, with retro sofas, chairs, tables and counter...looks to be back in the old days! In a side room, there is a great collection of motor-memorabilia, definitively to check out during your lunch break! Parking lot outside the diner is spacious. Highly recommended!

  • 5/5 Amanda E. 9 months ago on Google
Route 66 is a classic diner with amazing food! I love the style of the diner, the decor, and the options on the menu. The portion sizes are large enough for any appetite. Today they seemed to be having trouble with the A/C so it was kind of hot, but the staff are very nice and the food is amazing. I ordered the chicken fried steak with salad and potato salad, and the teeny weeny sundae. There is parking all around the building though it can be difficult to maneuver in the lot with a larger vehicle.

  • 4/5 Tiktiktok G. 1 year ago on Google
We enjoyed our meal here. Very classic American restaurant with great burgers and milk shakes. I like strawberry milk shake the best, the chocolate one is a bit too sweet and the vanilla one is not very strong flavored. Service is great.

This is one of the MUST stop eateries on Route 66. The service was awesome and friendly. The food were excellent. Portion was large. We were trying to go in with a game plan to get to dessert, we had to stop ourselves from over ordering, everything looks good. The decor of this place is unique and lovely. Love this place.
