My
husband
and
I
were
traveling
from
Arizona
to
our
home
in
Kentucky
and
stopped
in
Albuquerque
for
the
night.
We
had
been
eating
Mexican
food
and
a
lot
of
meat
and
we
were
ready
for
some
fresh
and
delicious
Chinese
food.
I
was
so
excited
I
came
across
this
place
online
because
the
reviews
were
so
great
and
the
prices
reasonable.
We
went
and
were
both
initially
impressed
with
the
cleanliness
of
the
restaurant,
the
friendliness
of
the
staff,
and
the
freshness
of
the
appetizer
and
egg
drop
soup.
The
initial
impressions
began
to
wear
off
once
my
husband
received
his
main
course.
I
did
not
receive
mine
and
as
the
restaurant
began
to
fill
up,
many
folks
who
came
in
after
us
did
receive
their
food.
My
hunger
was
aggravated
because,
although
this
was
likely
not
their
intention,
I
felt
singled
out
because
I
was
the
only
Black
person
in
the
restaurant
and
the
only
one
sitting
there
not
eating.
As
my
husband
finished
his
meal,
my
food
was
brought
out.
We
took
it
to
go.
Staff
apologized,
but
only
gave
us
10%
off!
I
was
too
tired,
too
hungry,
and
a
little
too
humiliated
to
argue.
I
paid
and
we
left.
I
understand
that
there
were
only
two
people
working
that
night;
I
have
worked
restaurants
and
understand
that
it
is
HARD
WORK.
Similarly,
I
have
so
much
respect
for
folks
who
are
working
to
make
it
in
a
place
that
may
be
hostile,
at
times,
to
them
as
immigrants.
But
while
I
sat
patiently
watching
my
husband
and
all
the
other
guests
around
me
eat,
neither
of
the
workers
would
even
look
at
me
or
ask
if
I
needed
anything.
It
was
very
disappointing.
