Over the years, this particular Genghis Grill location, has went from highly desirable to eat-here-only-if-you-don't-care. The bowls have gotten smaller. The location overall has gotten more dingy and dirty. The presentation of the food selection is not appealing. Lastly, the restrooms are The-Rest-Stop-from-H20-type-of-bad. The Staff is perfectly serviceable and friendly, but not overly attentive. The food was prepared quickly so there is something in the plus column. I only recommend if you're near and are not particularly picky. I happened to go because my wife and I were remember how we used to go all of the time and then I was reminded of why I particularly don't anymore. Oh well.

We used to love dining here, this last time we went it was a disappointment. Our waitress was extremely slow and rude. The food tasted the same but the toppings that added to the flavor are no longer available. They have them, but only for certain meals. I could understand if it was just not cost effective for the company but they refuse to even sell them to you. The manger, Manual, was unapologetic and had no customer service skills whatsoever. Not sure when or if I’d return, there are a lot of other dining options in Albuquerque.

We Really Enjoy Genghis Grill It's 1 Of My Favorites For Sure, But I Can't Believe They Got Rid Of The Sesame Seed And The Crunchy Egg Noddles to Add To Your Meal? PLEASE BRING THEM BACK WE MISS THEM! Other Than That We Totally Enjoyed Our Meal, Service Was Outstanding And Very Delicious As Usual. 😋 👍❤️❤️❤️

This restaurant has a wide variety of proteins, seasoning, veggies, sauces, and you can do fried rice, white rice, noodle or do half noodle and half rice. So almost everyone in my party got a small bowl except for two of them that got a regular bowl (as seen on the red bowl on the pictures). A small bowl is big enough for a person. You go down the line and tell them what you want. They really pack it and over pack it to allow you to select as much as you want in your bowl. Don't worry about room for rice and noodle because they will add it once it is cooking so your small bowl then turns into a medium to large bowl and its very fulling. The people in the protein and veggie line all were very professional and nice and without complaints of you running out of space in your bowl. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and especially for large parties. I am giving this place 4/5 because of customer service lacking with our waiters. This is a nice location in town an apparently is family owned according to the waiter and that's why some drinks on the menu vary between this one and uptown. So we get in there and waiting time is about 6-10 minutes to get a waiter. The waiter's personality came off very strong and not as friendly nor professional. He was trying too hard to come off as welcoming but failed terribly. My brother asked for straws and he brought them and threw them on the table. He butcher our names when he brought our bowls. One of the female's waiter who brought my sister's bowl said her hand writing was too ugly to read.. our waiter also is not that greatest at giving advice on food options. He gave a bad review of the fried rice that he almost convinced my party to avoid trying the fried rice and I reassure them it was great and they all got half and half and enjoyed it as much as I have in the past.

I have eaten at Ghengis Grill several times as a company lunch. It is primarily a build your own Mongolian BBQ place where you fill up your bowl with meat, veggies, and sauce and then watch the chefs stir fry it right in front of you. I’ve tried a variety of their meats and sauces and my favorite so far is a mix of their steak, shrimp, and broccoli with a smokey teriyaki sauce for kind of an Asian inspired surf and turf. The great thing about it is that once you have the bowl it’s just a flat price for whatever you make. Nothing costs extra as long as you can cram it in there.

They were having a special today. It wasn’t very busy. It was dusty and no music was playing. The manager was leaning on a counter staring at the room. No one greeted us for 10 minutes despite us standing there. When we were sat, we were sat next to another party very close. The waitress asked us what we wanted to drink and order as soon as we sat down. I let her know I didn’t know because we didn’t have a menu? She said they couldn’t give one because it was a “special day.” I asked her how I’m supposed to know what to order, she didn’t respond and just looked at me. What? I asked a friend of mine and they said you sit down before ordering and going to the “build a bowl.” We left after this, and went to eat down the street.

Food is good, prices are reasonable. This location atmosphere is kinda bland compared to the other one. Could stand to be updated a bit. Service was great. Lady that was clocked out went out of her way to seat me when she didn't have to.

We went there and our food tasted burnt. We told the waiter Wendy, and she said she would tell her manager Liz. Well, the manager never came and spoke to us. I'm very disappointed because we have been eating at this place for years. We will not eat here again.

Loved this place. Food is delicious and the drinks are Soo good. You can build your own bowl then they cook it for u. Choose between a small, medium or large bowl. The service was great and the place was clean. Good for groups or just yourself. Definitely stop in here. I know I will be coming back.

Good food! You kind of have to know what good combinations are. The recipe cards were not there so I went off memory and it came out good! The service was fine, there was one waitress that I saw running and doing everything herself, but she did good. The tables were clean and the bathroom was clean.

Food had no flavor. Too much scrambled egg and huge pieces. Rice was over cooked. Bowl for ingredients was so small. There was eight in our party. We all ordered large. Not worth the price. Prices are totally ridiculous for amount of food we got. Will not return.

Order was wrong and would have made me ill(onions). My 2 friends got their orders after 20 minutes but mine took another 20 minutes so we couldn't eat together. We were the only 3 customers. Overheard waitress discussing my order mistake but she decided to serve it anyway. She didn't mention the mistake to me. Had Rambo on the overhead tv. Pretty violent for a restaurant. Ended up leaving. Never eat here.

Unfortunately, they've raised their prices AGAIN. Med bowl is now $16.50. The place was empty on a Saturday afternoon. Food was good, service was lacking considering the restaurant was mostly empty.

The food was excellent, but our server was horrible! She seemed annoyed to be serving, and after taking the order never served the table again, not even to deliver the meals! Luckily the other employees picked up her slack after waiting through the meal to even have a drink refilled. That said the food was great and reasonably priced!

A friend and I visited this restaurant today. We were in a hurry and ordered 2 value meals. I THINK thats' what they were called. My selection was a nice size bowl of rice with beef and broccoli on top. The beef was pure gristle and fat. Mostly inedible. The broccoli was not cooked. It was raw. A few of the pieces were actually refrigerator cold. The sauce was pleasant. I felt bad because my friend paid for this meal that was $20 plus tip!!! Yikes! The service was really good. The gal was super sweet. When we explained that I had just gotten out of the eye doctor appointment and could not see well enough to go up to the counter, she went ahead and fixed ours for us. She couldn't have been nicer. I was relieved when my friend saw what time it was and said we should just package up our meals and take them "to go." It wasn't great, but it was nutritious and filling, so I ate most of it after I took it home and added nuts and other things to it and cooked it a bit more. I feel bad that I'm not able to give it a better rating but I have a feeling that they have other things that are much better. I should not have ordered beef and broccoli in a restaurant setting like this. It would have been better to get chicken or a vegetarian option. The place SMELLS delicious, so I will go back and try other options, I'm sure.

First time in this place and Theresa the waitress/server was the best person ever and the cook Liz was on point with cooking. It was a cool laid back atmosphere and a pleasure to dine here and OH don't forget to try the frozen margaritas.

Very good food the build your Owen bowl is probably the best option experience Wise any way and great taste very fresh the peach tea was more like lemonade then peach tea though but other than that very good option for a quick off the freeway highway or whatever for lunch or dinner idk about breakfast haha !

I had a terrible experience. I even told both of the staff who sitted me & waited on me that I had never been there before. And I got treated as if I should know what to do. I tried to explain again and she walked away from me. After 15 min of waiting I got up to leave when a 3rd wait staff inquired to my needing assistance. She started to explain the process. I said wasn't hungry anymore and left. I left $1 for my half drunk tea. The concept could be great if explained to new customers instead of assuming everyone knows the process! It smelled good. But I won't return to that particular restaurant!!

Food was awful. Rice was hard, dishes over salted. We watched them cook our food and then it sat there uncovered before the guy came back to it to cover it, put part of it in the bag, and walked away again. we waited longer, so we walked over and started bagging it ourselves. 10 minutes cold.

They didn't have enough servers, so we had a bit of a wait. 3 vegan options ( this includes one appetizer and two main dishes). But they also have a build your own bowl.

I love this place! The food is very delicious but it's a bit pricey. They have a huge variety of add-ons that they combine with rice of your choice. It's a cool experience.

I honestly don’t know what everyone else is saying when they mention the food being good. Highly do not recommend. Ordered through DoorDash… everything about the order was wrong from the cauliflower rice in the wrong bowl, to no rice in one of the other bowls entirely (don’t know how you miss that one.. it’s the first step lol); not to mention the kids meal we ordered was the same size as everyone else’s (not a problem- more food, right?! No.) but the wrong ingredients and no drinks at all. It’s as if they knew all of our choices and just randomly assorted sauces and meats together and called it a day. It was so nasty. 3 orders into the trash. I will say that customer service was pretty good when asking for a refund.

I really love their food when it's done right. unfortunately, they can be pretty hit and miss and sometimes I pay a lot of money for food that is really terrible. I've also had them "lose" my order until I get there and they magically find what they couldn't find 30 minutes prior. I just don't go here anymore, which sucks because I do like their food.

  • 2/5 Bridget3 1 year ago on Google
I just drove 20 minutes across town to eat here. I arrived at 730pm and they told me they were only doing takeout orders. They don't close till 9pm. I'm very disappointed. Safe to say i wont go out of my way to come here again.

  • 1/5 Jessica B. 1 year ago on Google
They mixed up the bases on our orders and did not offer to remake it or give us a refund but just gave us a plain plate of the bases. It defeats the entire point to have a plain bowl of rice and pick out the food from one bowl and put it in the other when it’s all supposed to be cooked together which is the entire point of this kind of food. It was honestly really disgusting that way and we took so long that we didn’t even get a chance to finish eating since we had to catch a movie. So I paid $47 for 2 gross plates that were made completely wrong with no refund or even remade food. I’m never ever coming here again.

Got turned away only doing carry out, was horrible 3 car loads of upset people looking to have a good time at our favorite spot on a Friday night . At this point if you can't keep a staff maybe it's poor management idk but there's a problem. Gladly went somewhere else where we could dine and enjoy our food .

I unfortunately ordered the wrong thing this time. I have never had a bad experience until I ordered the Mongolian steak bowl. I think it was the sauce that ruined the dish for me. The meat was cooked well and by itself it was delicious, but the sauce gave it a ketchup type flavor. I tried my best to get around it, but the more I ate the worse it was. I gave this 3 stars because the manager was gracious enough to refund my money for the half eaten bowl. She didn't seem too happy with my opinion on the food though. I ended up finishing my wife's leftover food for the rest of the lunch. She had the Carne asada, which was pretty good.

There are, of course, many different ways to evaluate a dining experience. Of the various attributes of a lunch-time meal, I place a good deal of emphasis on what we call in non-gustatory domains "price/performance." When I say that I always feel that I have enjoyed well-prepared food at an attractive price in this facility, please don't mistakenly think I am recommending the Genghis Grill as some sort of fast-food enterprise that just transforms volume operations into cheaper dining. Quite the contrary, the quality of the available ingredients, the range and variety of ingredients, and the conscientious method of preparation of each diner's meal leaves you with the feeling that you would like to meet the owner/chef who has made the choice of what to offer, not some corporate financial officer looking at the P&L. The medium-sized bowl with refill beverage is very fairly priced and far less than what you would pay for a sit-down Asian meal in most conventional restaurants. And to top this off, you get to choose exactly what your definition of that Asian foodstuff will be. If the location were closer to my home, I would dine here at least once per week. As it is not, but as the dining experience is so pleasant, I go out of my way to catch a lunch there as often as possible.

Great food as always. Our server was grumpy and nonexistent, so we had to get things off of other tables and our own tea refills. Another server noticed and became ever so helpful. I'm on crutches currently, or else getting my own tea, sugar, silverware wouldn't be such an issue. I still tipped 30% hoping that might change the mood.
