I LOVE this place. Definitely going back the next time I visit Albuquerque! My husband and I had the green chile burger (husband had the double) and shared the onion loaf with my friends. Also had a peanut butter shake. Our friends ordered tacos and a club sandwich. They had the chocolate peanut butter shake. We bought t-shirts too, and chatted a little with the owner about the Breaking Bad filming at this location. And to top it all off, we sat in the same booth Jesse and Walter were in. 🙂

I know about the hype, but it is overhyped. The food is overpriced and bland. Their appetizers were okay but the entree was disappointing. I had to add salt to taste something. The staff was very nice, I think they could tell I didn't enjoy my food and tried making up for it. The decor is nice but there is so much potential for this place. I recommend going for a snack or dessert, don't go for a meal.

Well, the pineapple shake was good.... Our waitress seemed annoyed that we were even there. She brought our food, and then didn’t check on us or even come near our table until she showed up with the check. The bacon cheese fries were terrible. Melted/on the verge of burnt, shredded cheese, and burnt bacon on top. Not even edible. My husbands burger was extremely dry. We wanted to ask for more bbq sauce, but couldn’t get our waitresses attention. I asked for no onion on my burger. Low and behold it had more than your average two or three slices. Once you put raw onion on anything, the flavor is there. I really wanted to like this place, but I won’t be going back. Not even for a shake.

Today, I dined at this restaurant and unfortunately, I had a less than satisfactory experience. The price for two burger meals and fried pickles was quite steep at $60. The fried pickles were disappointingly rubbery and some were partially burnt on the outside. The bacon on the burgers was chewy and squishy, so we had to remove them. The burgers themselves lacked seasoning, and while they were veryyy salted, they still tasted bland. The best two items we got on the menu were our soft-drinks. The service was decent, but I believe there's room for improvement in creating a more comfortable dining environment. Also, we noticed flies landing on our food during our meal, which, although not a major issue, added to our overall disappointment. Considering the cost, we expected a much better dining experience. We won't be returning as neither of us could even finish our meals, and we left the restaurant still feeling hungry. I can normally deal with some bad food experiences, but it’s especially disappointing when we have to pay $60 for the bad meal. While I'm not one to usually leave negative reviews, I felt compelled to share this experience to prevent others from making the same mistake.

Fast and friendly service. Huge portions. Some reviews complained about price but didn't seem all that bad in comparison to anywhere else. Prices are up everywhere. Came out hot and fast. Also, you're not eating at a Michelin Star destination, it's a diner. If you go in with that expectation, you'll enjoy it. No complaints.

Great place! Waitress Mary-super sweet! Jukebox on each table-play 50’s. LOVE IT! Food was excellent! Tons of bacon in our omelette - pancakes are bigger than the plates. We’ll definitely be back!

It was a great experience! The service was wonderful and they even gave a free sample of green chile beans.. the green Chile's were awesome! I ordered a green Chile and cheese hot dog with a side of fries. So delicious.. the hot dog became a little soggy so I had to use a fork and knife.. but all in all a great lunch! I will have to come back!

Definitely wouldn’t recommend. The food was very bland almost flavorless. The waiter was nice. Unsanitary, saw a waiter touch food with her bare hand not washed no glove, then put a plate on top because it wasn’t warm. Another waiter scraped mashed potatoes from one plate to another and served it like that also with no gloves or washed hands. The floors were dirty everywhere. And prices are high for not good food in my opinion. I’ve had some great food for half the price at other places. Thought we should give this place a try but will not be coming back.

What a neat place. The atmosphere is a diner vibe from the 50s. So much fun going through the jukebox music. The food came out hot and fresh. Of course, my wife and I had to have the famous green chile burgers, but we stated with the fried mushrooms. This is the way they should be done. Big, crispy with ranch, yummy! The burgers were good and messy with just the right kick from the chile. Our server was super nice even though we came in not too long before closing. She gave us just the right amount of attention. She made our appetizer, and our food came out at the correct times, yet it was still very hot! Overall, it was a great experience at a price of only around $5 a person (before tip ) more than going to McDonald's. Highly recommend.

LOVED the atmosphere, service, and food. Very fun and laid back. I got the pork adovada with a local beer, and my husband got a burger and milkshake. Everything great (plus the food came faster than expected) and plenty food to bring home for another meal. The shake takes times, which is fine because its practically dessert. Btw the toffee coffee milkshake was SO freaking tasty.

Family came in Monday afternoon, wasn't too busy. Has a '50s diner aesthetic with golden oldies music playing. The wife and I both had the Albuquerque patty melt with cheddar cheese and fries. It was fantastic, well seasoned and juicy and the fries were perfect. When we were first seated they brought out a bowl of pinto beans with green chilies and crackers which also was divine. For an appetizer we had the "owl" onion loaf which was a new take on fried onions for us. Service was great, everyone was friendly and was not disappointed.

One of the friendliest diners I've been to, and they are wicked busy. Food is a step above your typical diner. After a long day, I just felt like a good ol' BLT, and theirs was generous with nice, smoky bacon. My buddy got a nice bacon cheesy, but his onion rings were incredibly unique and scratch made. Nice complimentary starter of beans and green chile, to boot! Wish I could have saved room to try dessert. Next time, for sure...

A classic diner that has some of the best homemade pies, seasonal milk shakes (candy cane? Yum!) and a decent amount of diversity on the menu. You won't get Almond milk creamer for your coffee, but you will get large portioned meals with very friendly service.

Super friendly and fun staff. Such a classic old-style dinner with a great menu. We had a breakfast burrito (so good) french toast (yummy) and a classic simple eggs and bacon. Everything was cooked perfectly. The only negative was the blob of lipstick on my coffee cup. Wonderful atmosphere that I'm sure has seen a few good stories over the years. Definitely coming back!

My family and I went for our first time today and we enjoyed it. The building is clean, including the machines to produce the milk shakes. Our waitress was helpful and very nice to us. The wait time for our food was a little long but it was worth the wait. My family and I agreed that the food we ordered was delicious and came out to our table perfectly. The staff are nice and helpful there too. When it comes to the vibes, it's there. You definitely feel like you are back in the day. The jukebox works which is a huge plus because there are several diners we have been to that had jukeboxes but never worked. The music came out of the jukebox clearly and sounds like you're playing it on a record player! I highly recommend this place to visit if it's your first time. We plan on returning in the future again. I've read the Google reviews prior to our experience today and I came in not knowing what to expect, whether or not this will be a good or bad experience but I figured I would give it a try. I was surprised at how well the food was, the vibes, the staff, and the working jukebox. I'd say a lesson I learned from this is that people have opinions and different experiences than others, but you're not going to know if you will enjoy something until you try it for yourself.

“Grease burger” is actually a compliment for this place! I was very pleasantly surprised by Owl Cafe. I tried OC for the first time for a Sunday evening dinner. Our server Holly was friendly, attentive, and answered our questions. I ordered a Bleu Max Burger, which came with “a mound of bleu cheese & grilled onions topped with lettuce, tomato, & mayo”, accompanied by french fries, for $16.70. After ordering, Holly brought us a small plate of complimentary spiced pinto beans with green chile and crackers. I hadn’t had that as an appetizer before, and I usually don’t enjoy pinto beans, but it was pretty good. The burger was great! Usually the bleu cheese isn’t very noticeable to me on black and bleu burgers, but this was sharp and delicious. Everything is cooked to order. The portions of the burger and fries were huge! I almost always eat my entire meal while dining out, and I took half of it home for my next meal. I still had no room for a milkshake even with saving half! The diner is casual and 50s themed with working mini juke boxes in the booths near the center of restaurant. They play music for the entire place. There’s postcards and shirts for sale, along with baked goods to go. The restaurant and tables are accessible to patrons using a wheelchair. Large bodied people will not have an issue at this establishment; there are non-booth tables, and the chairs have no sides and are a sturdy metal. Go get your burger! We’ll be returning shortly.

IDK how I've never eaten at Owl Cafe until now!I ordered the Green Chile Cheeseburger w/ bacon, avocado, and extra onions! Onion rings, ranch, and a mayo-based dip that I wasn't too fond of; everything else was SOO DELICIOUS 🤤

PROS: cozy atmosphere and clean bathrooms. The service was decent. CONS: the food wasn’t that great. I got a huge plate of chips and only a little bit of salsa. My sandwich was a little disappointing. The sweet potato fries were good though.

For breakfast, I had the Rustic Corned Beef Hash with red potatoes, spicy green chili with an overeasy egg on top. I was impressed. The flavors were right on and tasted fresh and savory. The only thing that I have to say is the tortilla wasn't warmed. Other than that , the meal was excellent!

Step back a few decades into a classic diner. I've been in my share of diners. This one remains authentic. They sell shirts, but other than that, you'd be forgiven for thinking you stepped into 1977. Even if you are just swinging in here for Breaking Bad, yes there is a photo, stay for the food and quality service. They even have hot beef if you are so inclined.

Definitely a unique experience that feels like a blast from the past. Really comfy 70s diner experience complete with a working table jukebox machine from the era, which is incredible to see. Servers were friendly, but were a little spread thin. An experience if you want a unique lunch.

Oh my God, has anyone been to this diner on Route 66 in Albuquerque, NM ??? Or had their Hatch Chili Burger or the side dish of Hatch Chili's and Beans?? I guess it's been there over 50 years. But those damn beans are amazing. My food was great!

This place rocks! I absolutely loved getting to come here with my girlfriend. The nachos and chili chimi dog were delicious! The owl nachos are made with beef, not owl, but besides that it was a fantastic experience.

Do not order take out here! We were so disappointed! The food was bland. The brown gravy looked like pudding. (See picture below) I asked for the veggies on the side and they put them on the plate. They gave no silverware. It was not worth the $73 I paid! My first and last time there. The prices are much higher that what is posted online. The meatloaf said $9.99, it was $19.95. Beware!!

Went in with a group of 8, were immediately accommodated. Lovely cool old diner style interior. The exterior was eye catchingly cool. The plates were large and very good. We had several different things and our kids loved the cheese curds, spaghetti and everything else they ordered. Husband had enchiladas, I ordered The Aloha. Both were excellent.

I was surprisingly disappointed. I’m local and have not been here in over 20 years. We went for breakfast. I got the Owl Special. Home fries were bland, pancakes were awful. Batter was oily and tasted terrible. Just because a place is famous, doesn’t mean it’s good. I hate to write this. But they need to work on the food a bit.

Loved the place, it takes you back on time, and you have access to the jukebox from your table! Hahaha it was fun, 1qt 2 songs oldies but goodies. The food, my breakfas burrito was huge and great taste, I will be back.
