I am absolutely disgusted with this place. My cat was attacked by several dogs. When I came in they let me know in no uncertain terms that it didn't matter that my cat was barley alive, if I didn't have money upfront, they would not even look at him. I begged and pleaded, telling them I had no problem paying, I just didn't have that much up front. They would not even consider billing me. I thought these people choose their field because of their love for animals. How do you sleep at night turning away crying owners and bleeding cats without treatment. If you have ANY choice but coming to Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center of New Mexico. P

We woke up Easter morning to our corgi, Padfoot, being extremely lethargic and not eating. We took him and to find he had swallowed a foreign body. Attempts were made to avoid surgery, but in the end it was necessary. The first night the surgeon called us and everything appeared to have gone great. The next morning he wasnโ€™t doing well again. We continued this roller coaster of ups and downs with him. On Wednesday the staff allowed us to come back in to see him. We got lots of cuddles and love. The vet came in and sat on the floor with us and talked to us about prognosis. She was gentle and kind. She explained at this point he would either start to get better or continue to decline. He hadnโ€™t had anything to eat since surgery and was still on IV fluids and antibiotics. She told us she was going to start him on a very small amount of food and some medication to help him jumpstart his gut. Thursday he was looking much better and we were finally able to take him home. He has healed beautifully and is back to his normal playful self. Iโ€™m so thankful to all the doctors, techs, and everyone who helped save our guy! We appreciate it more than you could ever know!!!!

I appreciate that they were open and able to see my cat in an emergency but the quality of care was low and the price tag was high. They kept my cat overnight to perform a surgery (stitch up a severe injury on her leg). The day after she came home, the stitches started pulling apart and maggots were coming out of the opening and out of her drain. I took her back and a different vet there cleaned that up. A few days later, all of her stitches had come out and we were treating an open wound (the vet had sewed up dead skin that couldn't hold). By that time I was able to get her in with our regular vet. The whole procedure had to be redone. When my regular vet redid the procedure it was 1/3 of the price. I used the 'contact us' button on the company's website to share this over a month ago and nobody has responded back.

This clinic does not know what they are doing. We took our cat here to get her checked out because she was not eating and moving slowly. We told the doctor she has had teeth problems in the past but the doctor told us she did not look at her teeth because she wouldn't let her. The doctor just told us she was dehydrated. When we took our cat home, we noticed bleeding from the right side of her mouth and are now taking her to another vet. The doctor should have realized that if the cat was not wanting her mouth touched, maybe there was the issue. Again, the doctor does not know what she is doing and for over a thousand dollars for no help this place is not good. Update: The other vet we went to informed us that our cat does have an infection and an abscess in her mouth. Can't believe this ER vet doctor didn't bother to check. This place is a complete scam and will not be back. No one should take their pet here as they do not care about pets.

By far the worst experience at a vet. I asked for clarification on how they were going to examine my dog (1 year old Dutch shepherd). The tech verbalized she didn't know, Left in the room saying she would ask the doc and didn't return. 2 hours with no updates later i ask about my place in line and then was told since I refused the exam I can leave without being charged if I want or wait longer so they can muzzle my dog but I can't be there when my dog is being examined. The receptionists were great. The tech I worked with had 0 bedside manner with my dog for the 15 secs she was in the room. Who ever the doctor was couldn't be bothered enough to come calm a worried dog dads concerns and left untreated. 10/10 would avoid

My dog was very sick and I took him to this VCA clinic. I waited 8 hours and he had not been seen yet. I understand the most critical are seen first, but my dog was also critical. So my dog died.

My dog, Ripley, had a seizure in March in the middle of the night. The vet took her back right away for tests and observation. I was extremely distraught, but everyone who worked there was very kind. The vet was very knowledgeable and gave me enough information to feel confident in my decisions for Ripley. I took her on a follow-up appointment with her regular vet, and he echoed everything the emergency vet said. I thought the price for Ripley's care was very reasonable, especially since it was a midnight emergency and almost no one else was open. I am incredibly grateful to everyone here who helped Ripley and I. Hopefully, she never has another emergency, but if she does, I will definitely go back here.

They were so wonderful to me and my dog Daisy when she ate some chocolate. Everyone was so kind and compassionate and Daisy was seen immediately. I was so happy with the care that was taken of her. Iโ€™m really happy with our visit and definitely recommend this clinic

We recently adopted Dan our 1 year old Great Dane and he sustained an old injury prior to being surrendered that made his hind foot very painful and he avoided using it. We took him to our vet who recommended Dr. Freeman for an orthopedic consult. She spent a long time with us explaining Danโ€™s options and weighing things out for his long term quality of life. I felt zero pressure from her to proceed with any medical treatment. We decided to move forward with surgery for Dan which required a digit amputation. The team took great care of Dan, he even got R2D2 artwork on his bandage! We are a few days post surgery, heโ€™s back to his chipper self and the care team called to follow up to make sure he was doing ok. Dr. Freeman and the orthopedic care staff are incredible. I highly recommend them if your pet is in need of any ortho care.

This is the worst emergency veterinarian clinic ever! I use the word emergency loosely at best. I'm on the highway trying to call to let them know I'm on the way. It's just an answering machine and NO option connects you to a person. Just a merry go round of options. So we just pull in because our dog is in dire need of help. There's NO ONE at the reception. My husband stormed out and we drove on to VCA down the road, where our beloved pet received excellent care. What an outrageous experience. I am informing our main vet to NOT recommend this place to anyone who actually needs medical attention.

It is definitely more expensive than a normal vet. I have had better experiences at other veterinarians by far. The treatment my dog received definitely did not match the bill. It is a catch-22 because it is justified. They're the only ones open past normal business hours.

All they see are dollar signs $$$ when you walk in the door. I asked them how much their fee would be. The answer: $5000. I told them I don't have that kind of money. They asked:"well how much do you have?" Pathetic! My best friend died because of their lack of compassion and service.

So far so good. Started when ANIC was in Algodones. Neuro-vet extremely smart. Bills have been reasonable. I was worried about price gouging due to limited choices. But all has been good. They are nice to both humans and pets. They listen. They explain. Very caring.

We walked in with our dying dog and were seen right away. They called STAT triage to the waiting room and were there in seconds. We were taken to an exam room and the vet walked in within minutes to give us an update- basically as soon as they had stabilized her airway and taken an xray. He told us what was going on and asked what we would like to do. The staff was amazing! They all expressed condolences and kept us up to date on everything going on. Hopefully we never have to use an emergency vet again, but if we do we are DEFINITELY going back here!
