I would say this place is pretty average for inpatient psychiatric clinics in New Mexico but they seem to take very violent patients and addicts and more people with major medical problems than some of the other places and that's not a good thing since they seemed really short staffed when I was there. The nurses and techs really seemed to care about doing a good job but it just didn't feel safe here especially at night. There were a lot of bad fights and a lot of old patients who needed more attention then they were given. There were broken doors, no hot water, they lose your clothes and you are lucky if the psychiatrists give you more than five minutes a day. The other doctors don't even see you unless a nurse drags them into your room. Group and activities were a joke unless you reallt like coloring. One day a tech was a tech and next day he was a social worker which was weird. I was waiting for the nice laundry lady to be promoted to nurse and give meds. Everyone seemed to be doing every job I guess because they have no staff. Most psychiatric hospitals are a little strange in my opinion but this one was just too weird. It's supposedly a new building but things are broken and we didn't even have TV for one weekend because they didn't pay the cable bill according to the message on the TV. They did get me back on my meds and got me an appointment with a therapist but I think I could have got that at any psychiatric clinic. Oh if you need rehab this is not a drug and alcohol rehab. My roommate was sent from Pres for detox and they dried her out but didn't do any addiction counciling. If you just need meds and to not kill yourself I guess this place will do but I don't recommend it. If you have a choice take Kaseman or Haven over this place.

My time at this hospital was very interesting. I witnessed low quality management from staff members, nurses and case works. I've seen the neglect they show for the disabled and elderly. I've seen the nurses and doctors brush off patient because they think they are just "crazy". If you're not able to advocate for yourself they will ignore you and neglect your needs. The abuse on the elderly did not go unoticed, if you're not compliant enough they will use force. They'll leave them in their own feeces, for hours. Mean while staff is on their phones. I'd say this place is poorly managed and they will hire anyone . The nurses will ignore the disabled while these patients are trying to explain to them about changes or their own needs. This place needs to be investigated.

My Father was admitted to here and I can't even find out the condition of my Father. I live out of state and haven't seen my Dad since May. I called and the girl who answered the phone was rude, and said to call the social worker who never calls back. This place seems shady and needs to be investigated. They keep you separated from your loved ones.

My husband was admitted for an evaluation on 12/11/20. While I realize that this is not just during the Covid 19 pandemic but the holiday season as well. These circumstances should not have an effect on returning of phone calls. The communication was horrible. On 12/24 he has transferred to physical therapy rehab. I was given absolutely no information on the results of his evaluation and was never able to speak to his doctor.

This facility is anything but client centered. They are very difficult to communicate with, unhelpful, and unprofessional. My elderly mother was sent here by Presbyterian Hospital. Once admitted, we basically lost all communication with her. She suffered from dementia and was basically on her own once she was admitted. It took us two weeks to get her out and when we finally did she had lost weight was severely dehydrated and weakened. In addition, somehow her wedding ring and another ring she had on when admitted disappeared during her stay. The quality of care she received was, as far as we could surmise extremely poor. This place cannot be trusted. Don't send your loved ones here.

I attended after they moved facilities. Many of the previous complaints were at the old facility. I felt safe and had good care. They made Group Therapy available several times a day. I saw a Dr, Psychologist and a Social Worker, every day. My main complaint was with intake and night shift workers. There was no compassion. I was terrified. They really should explain what to expect. I stayed a week and left with coping skills to help me get better. It does feel like what I assume prison is like...but it is for our own safety.

Based on my experience as a family member, not a patient I would give the staff here one star. Communication is in effective. Despite making contact via phone prior to arrival, they failed to answer the door immediately and when they did I was told that the belongings I brought in could not be dropped off. The receptionist Stated in a condescending way that ā€œthe staff was passing out trays and too busy.ā€œ She said I would have to stand in the Corredor for 15 minutes and wait for staff to personally take the items. 15 minutes came and went, then 20, then 25 and the receptionist quietly slunk out the back door. I rang again, no answer. After 40 minutes someone from an interior office happened to see me And acted surprised that I was there. They told me they would get the ā€œnurse supervisorā€œ. About five minutes after that he arrived and his manner was like Waze dismissive and rude. No apology for the lack of responsiveness. No professionalism despite the fact that I have been waiting for 45 minutes to simply drop belongings off.

Pretty much what every other <2 stars said. I was on the "Gereatric side." When I was being discharged because "insurance wouldn't cover any more" (Which I believe to be BS! I don't feel the social workers even fought for me.) I was told in the morning about 10 and by 4 pm I was out. When they told me I was being discharged I started crying, because I knew I wasn't mentally ready, their response was, "why are you crying" and "everyone has is rough on the outside you just need to..." blah blah blah! Upon leaving it was only the last 20 mins that they did what they needed to do like: have me sign papers. I sleep with a CPAP machine and when I opened it my stuff was just thrown in there. They also didn't tell me they called in my prescription so I had to call myself and check. Groups were not much help, but Katherine is amazing! Night staff would tell people to go back to bed, they even tucked one elderly lady in so she wouldn't get up! šŸ˜  (I'm assuming so they have an easy shift as if night shift isn't already easy for them.) I will not be going back to this place.

They are poorly managed, I too have seen the abuse on the elderly along with neglect on both the elderly and the disabled. The nurses and doctors have little experience it seems. When these patients having no to little ability to advocate for themselves accurately these so called "professionals " ignore them and treat them with little respect. They will ignore them. The cleanliness of that place is not even a high imprortant priority either ,covid 19 spreads there like wild fire. They are unable and unqualified it seems to be open. From case workers to doctors and staff they need to be investigated

A family member was recently there and we are not happy with the care there. There was no communication between the patients contact and the social worker. No clear diagnosis was made. Was just told to pick up the patient and he/she will need to be put on hospice. With I repeat no clear diagnosis, which is so weird. Also, when asked where the patient was it was explained that he/she was on a thin mattress that was put on the floor due to being a fall risk. Umm very confusing because when a patient is a fall risk at a hospital there is extra care to my knowledge. Itā€™s already uneasy for the patient and family that there are Covid protocols that doesnā€™t allow visitors so it canā€™t be physically known how the patient is being treated. Some employees there are in the wrong profession due to the lack of compassion and empathy. It is currently being discussed between the family for legal procedures to have facility investigated.

This is not so much to lower their rating than it is that my father in law has been there almost three weeks now. Weā€™ve been told very different things on the phone, which takes forever to answer and when they do they vaguely tell you things, will shove you on a case worker that will never call back. They said my husband and mother in law could visit him on Saturday drove three hours for them to say we canā€™t only on Tuesday and Wednesday, but the ā€œsocial workerā€ Teresa, told my mother in law that she could on Saturday since she works weekdays and weā€™re far. We called yesterday to find out when discharge will happen and any info on him. His name is a girls name old time name, and they keep calling him a she on the phone, when asked about his blood sugar levels heā€™s diabetic type one so he needs insulin and the ā€œnurse haileyā€ would not give me a last name, said ā€œI donā€™t know why he would say he didnā€™t need it thenā€ frustrated we said ā€œhe has dementiaā€ Do not trust these people with your family !!!!

My son is a patient at Central Desert Behavioral Health. Communication from this facility's doctors and social workers are not forthcoming. Several attempts have been made to speak to someone regarding my son's physical and mental health. No one responds, no one returns calls. Also, for some unknown reason, their website reads that visitations are accepted but my family has yet to see my son. I am questioning this facility's concern for their patients and family members of their patients. I am leery of professed ethical practices of doctors, nurses, social workers, staff members and all other attending personnel at Central Desert Behavioral Health.

MY best friend/ like a daughter was there in December after trying to commit suicide. They only kept her a few days. They booted her out. She had me call and talk to them due to she was still going to kill herself. I talked with her case worker and kepted saying he couldn't do nothing and the medicine they gave her will work. My bf cried cause she knew she wasn't ready and holidays are the worse on her. She died on Dec 27 to a od on the meds they gave her. Don't send your child or anyone here needing help They are just medicine pushers. Than they throw you to the wolves. It's a terrible place and they don't care.

I was taken here because I had attempted suicide and can confirm this place is absolutely appalling. There are little to no activities beyond TV, coloring/writing (with no more then 4 colors to use). This facility is not deserving of the title hospital! The staff is either rude, untrained, and apathetic. They treat patients as though they are animals/subhuman and let me tell you it doesnā€™t help when youā€™re depressed and in need of compassion. If you have the option DO NOT send a loved one or yourself here! The only positives are some of the other patients I met there and thankfully decent medication, however that doesnā€™t mean they care how long it takes to get those meds to you! Also fights and violence are rampant here it is not a safe facility whatsoever! 0/10 wouldnā€™t dream of recommending this $hithole.

What a horrible place to lose someone to. My girlfriend was checked in because she was suicidal homicidal, and was under the influence of alcohol and drugs. She was treated the day before for having cut her wrist and getting 17 stitches. I was supposed to be part of the program for them to discharge her to me. The people in social services said they would give me a call so that we can plan this together. I did not get a call and Jessica was released. They donā€™t have any record of who she was released to and my concern is that what they say is what theyā€™re gonna do. Shouldā€™ve been no question believing what they say. When they told me they would give me a call so that I could pick her up. After I read the reviews on this place, I would not recommend anyone to leave their loved ones in a place that is careless and concerned and outright in making decisions to help another person.

This is a horrible institution, they thought my husband was having a heart attack and sent him to the ER however upon arrival to the ER he was perfectly fine. The staff is horrible and doesnā€™t care about patients. If I could give a 0 stars I would. Do not send your loved ones here under any circumstance.

We all know what you guys have done. Please never go here for help. They lost a patient and have made multiple excuses as to where she is. There is no visitation which is already weird. For everyone except the business reading thisā€”Please go to @h0z02 on tiktok to find the whole explanation and raise awareness however you can.

My grandmother was in this facility and has been out for 4 days and I really see an improvement. Before, my grandma wasnā€™t eating and had panic attacks all day long and had an incident that led her to be there. Since sheā€™s been out the panic attacks are gone and sheā€™s eating very well so Iā€™m glad they got the medicine right! Iā€™m very disappointed that they did not send her home with a referral for home health care because the whole reason she went in is because she canā€™t remember to take her pills. Also they told us they would check for Alzheimerā€™s/dementia and they didnā€™t and thatā€™s critical. Thank you for getting my grandmothers meds corrected.

"well, i just got out of this place, and..." ...don't believe the bad hype. This facility is quality. The food is better than my home. The PEOPLE are GREAT. If you are wanting to best help someone who will hate you anyway, this is the place. These People are the Best.

Central Desert Behavioral Health Hospital disregarded my daughters pleas for her life to stay there a little longer and now she is dead. Please, do not send your loved one to this facility. My daughter was there and they wanted to release her to a shelter. What kind of mental help is a shelter? She begged them to keep her because she was still suffering severe depression more than usual due to the Christmas holiday season. She told them she would kill herself if they released her and I knew she was serious. She called her friend in West Virginia to call this facility and her friend did call, begging them as well to keep my daughter there and telling them about my daughterā€™s history and the seriousness of her statement to kill herself. She called me twice crying helplessly on the phone asking me to please call and talk to the administration and begging me to call this facility. I did call and spoke to Andreas, her caseworker, and I begged him and told him if sheā€™s stating sheā€™ll kill herself, she is serious. As this facility was given her past and the past year and a half of being in and out of mental health facilities and programs and sucide attempts. I begged him to contact Lisa Chavez with Albuquerque Police Departmentā€™s Crisis Intervention Unit, which doesn't care about your loved ones either, to try to keep her there at Central Desert Behavioral Health Hospital or get her transferred to another mental health facility and to please let me know what Lisa could do. I was told she would be released and she could check herself back into a hospital and then maybe the hospital could get her back into another mental health treatment facility. Not only this, but she already had liver problems and yet you prescribed wellbutrin, bupropion and quetiapine which damaged her liver further. What kind of place are you????? They released her anyway. She passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2022. So, I say to you, please do not let this happen to your loved one. Please find a better place. Oh and want you to know, I forgive you!

Worst psych detox hospital I've ever been to. There's no kind of control over patients, there were a lot of aggressive patients that were not being controlled. Some techs were good, some seemed to care less. Patients were roaming the halls all night and day banging on the walls keeping other people awake. They lost my ins card and ebt card. I wouldn't recommend this hospital to anyone. Unless you're really in crisis and need somewhere to go don't go here. I agree with most of the previous reviews.

Terrible communication and lots of either medical hand waving or ā€œIā€™ll be sure and forward your message to the Dr., or social worker, or case managerā€ā€¦ā€¦.. calls are never returned. Seems to be a money trap, I honestly donā€™t know how they have not had their license pulled or been examined for insurance fraud . Basic take away isā€¦if a patient CAN payā€¦.they want to keep them for as long as possibleā€¦.. if you canā€™t payā€¦.adiosā€¦.. If you donā€™t like someoneā€¦.make sure they come hereā€¦.itā€™s like an expensive hell on earthā€¦that you canā€™t escape from!
