    As someone who moves around frequently and finally being stationary for some time, I looked forward to finally seeing a doctor since it had been a few years. Dr. Satkirin Khalsa’s bedside manner is awful, the minute she stepped in she was ready to get out. She listened to my heart and that was it - as a Registered Nurse I know what a full assessment is and that was not one. I had to ask for lab work orders and then she questioned me as to why I needed them after I had told her it had been a few years and I wanted to ensure everything was normal. I wanted to discuss my mental health with her and have been on the fence of taking medications. I wanted to hear recommendations or options as I have tried just every lifestyle change possible and was having a hard time. She mentioned a medication and I had to dig for information - what is it for? What are side effects? Etc.. As a physician her job is to discuss those things right away and also address the anxiety/ depression questionnaire I filled out that was never discussed. She wanted to prescribe an anti-depressant but my main concern was anxiety, she was quick to jump to another medication and not address much about it. At the end of the appointment she followed up with “As adults and as we age, life does become hard.” As someone who has struggled and found ways to cope that were not working.. I wanted other options - for a physician who did special training on acupuncture, plant-based nutrition, and yoga… she didn’t recommend other options bedsides medication. I was so disappointed and would not recommend her to anyone.

    Disappointing Experience I don't like leaving bad reviews, and it took me some time to finally decide to write one because I know that it can be helpful for both the patient, future patients, and hopefully for the provider. When I first was looking for a provider, I went to their website and read their about and their story. I was pleased with what I read and resonated with their philosophy. I know that the original philosophy came from Dr. Steven D Hsi who passed away and his wife wanted to continue his vision. Unfortunately the new ownership does not live up to what I read and was expecting. I really gave my provider Dawn Fithen, FNP/C and her assistant Celanie the opportunity to own their mistakes, as we all make mistakes and have the choice to own them and learn from them. To this day, months later, the medical issue that I needed their help with is yet to be resolved by them. Wrong tests were ordered, they cancelled an appointment I had without being notified (It's a two and a half hour drive from where I live) The most frustrating and disappointing thing is that I have not heard from them. I left messages via the portal and voicemails. I feel like instead of owning their mistakes and apologizing and moving forward with what needs to be done, it appears to be easier for them to lose a client. I did find a different provider and what a difference in their professionalism, their respect for my time, and especially their respect for me and my needs.

    Don't think you will get any care here. The employees don't tell you how long before appointment to be here. I was told ten minutes then got here twenty minutes early and called because I could not find the building, they wouldn't see me because I needed to be here thirty minutes before appointment. Plus the fact they neglected to send me the new patient paperwork. Waited a long time to get in even after I told them I had major medical issue going on. This is not the place to get any find

    Multiple Times in the last 6 months I have requested a statement of my account, as I believe (again) they have made a mistake in billing, in their favor. No response, haven’t been able to access online, humans won’t answer account questions or call back. Left message Monday, talked to a human Wednesday morning, still nothing after close of business Thursday. Said billing was handled somewhere else and they would get me a number, no response. In 6 months the only Good interaction I had on phone, quickly diminished on my next call when I was told “well she was let go” (regarding the one good employee) by an extremely Rude and snarky young lady. After 25 years, this is not the practice it was.

    The receptionist never answers her phone. My wife has waited over a week without the medicine she needs because every time the pharmacy calls they don’t answer. And the time before the last time we saw a different doctor because the last one was no where to be found and that doctor told my wife that she couldn’t be taking the medicine because of her race. They’re rude and they’re extremely unhelpful. The doctor that told my wife the medicine didn’t work for black people also claimed several other health concerning things. The time after that when we were finally able to see her primary, we told her that we would be leaving to see a different doctor and she had a freak out about it. Very unprofessional. 100% would not recommend.

    The doctor I saw said she would handle a medical matter for me, and then refused to after my appointment. The office scheduled another appointment for me but I was out of state. I never confirmed the appointment and yet they sent me a letter of a "missed appointment". There is evidently mismanagement going on here, and I would recommend another practice.

    There was an upsetting misunderstanding in regards to my visit at this practice. However, the owner reached out to me directly and we were able to come to an agreement and resolved the issue. The owner reaching out to make things right is appreciated.

    I was scheduled for an ER follow up in two weeks time. They decided to call me 30 minutes before my appointment to inform me that we need to cancel the appointment because they didn’t receive the results they needed. They had to ask which ER I was seen at (again) so they could request for the results from the appointment. I already informed them which ER I was seen at 2 weeks ago. Dr Amy let me know then, that it won’t be at all hard to get the results and they receive them rather fast. They must not have put in the request and realized they didn’t the day of my appointment.

    Friendly and professional staff across the board. They accommodated my family and I for all three COVID shoots, they do offer you vaccine options. Will be switching over to them for my primary care, highly recommend.

    This place has come a long way. There was turnover and I went through two providers. Now I have one. Very pleased w the great front desk staff. I feel the the medical assistants are very thorough and responsive. My FNP. Dawn Fifen listens, educates and cares. I truly feel my needs are being prioritized during an apt. Whoever changed this places vibe deserves a raise.

    I'm so amazed, with your whole office staff, they are very kind and caring, they made me feel very comfortable. Amy Lozoya (PCP) you are the best!! I'm glad that I came to the right place. I felt very welcomed ❤️🙏💯🤓🙋🧑‍⚕️ I'm beyond excited...I would recommend other people who in-need's of a "GOOD" Dr. to start from Rio Grande Family Medicine!!! Thank you for all the help and support!!

    I had an appointment with Jordan this past week. She was awesome. She took a thorough history and we came up with a plan. Also the reception staff and the medical assistant were very professional. I had a great experience and am very glad i chose to go to Rio Grande Family Medicine.

    Visiting Rio Grande Family Medicine and working with their doctors, practitioners, and team has been a great experience for me, encouraging me to take an active approach to managing my health and addressing concerns. Everyone should have access to healthcare as personal and supportive as this!

    I waited an hour past my appointment time due to their staffing and scheduling problems. When seen all I needed was a common RX refill that could have been faxed in without an in person visit. Although they repeatedly apologized, I still incurred time away from work. If I were an hour late they would have sent me home. And of course, still charged the same price. They should offer a discount when this happens!

    I was very pleased with my visit to Rio Grande Family Medicine! I was greeted by very friendly people at the front counter. My wait time to see my Dr was less than 5 minutes. My Dr., Dawn Lehner Geer, was awesome. She spent the time to figure out what was going on with me and how to properly treat and diagnose me. I could not be more pleased!!

    I was completely satisfied with the care and attention provided. The signage could be improved as there are several buildings and suites at the location. The wait was minimal and the staff helpful. FNP Lozoya was thorough and inquisitive. This practice spent time with me, a quality that is so rare in medical offices these days.

    My experience with Jordan Pelock PA-C at Rio Grande Family medical has been great, she not only listens but is caring.     Every visit I’ve had at Rio Grande has been above my expectations. I get personal attention from my caregiver, and deeply appreciate the small family l-like feel of the facility. They aren’t wasting time and money on being flashy and shiny - they just care about helping their patients the best they can.

    My wife and I followed Shauna Montoya, FNP/C over from another practice site. We were both providers with Indian Health Service and have found Shauna to be a very good provider. The location was a little hard to find. Also it is a little older site so don't expect the most up to date building and furnishing. What you can expect to find are excellent providers that truly care for you.

    My husbands insurance changed so we had to find a provider in network. They got him in within a week of me calling to schedule! His provider he saw Amy Lozoya was great! Eager to tackle his issues and not trying to push meds down his throat. She was actually supportive to find alternative ways and get him off his meds.

    First visit. The entire staff was nothing less than fabulous. The nurse practitioner was a true professional with an outstanding personality. Ms Fithen handled my medical issue with expertise and resolved the problem. Will definitely return to this facility.

    I had an appointment at this office because I needed to get a new PCP. This was June 2nd. I called back the next day with a couple of questions and I still have not heard back from anyone in that office. I know I should have called back again, but our family is dealing with some personal issues so it would have been really helpful if they called in the 36 hours they said they would return my call. Now that being said…. Everyone I came in contact with was friendly and seemed to like being at work.

    I rarely leave a negative review, but this time I have to. I was supposed to have an appointment after lab getting some results. But my provider NEVER ordered a lab work for me twice and NEVER answered my call. I also feel super frustrated with appointment call with its employees. Why do you assume that I will not show up on appointment? Tell me if I did something wrong. I'll find other providers who treat my time and business as important as their own.

    The Family Nurse Practitioner (F-NP) was very attentive, thorough and professional. She listened to my concerns, reviewed my medical history and gave me the documents I needed for radiology exams. I have not been able to find a compassionate, skilled provider that I can return to when needed. I plan to be a regular patient of this medical provider.

    My experiences at Rio Grande Family medicine have all been positive, from the front staff to my health provider Dawn and her assistant. Dawn has been thorough and has taken her time answering questions and explaining information. Her assistant is very good about contacting me and giving me information. I feel good about this place and it has been a while since I have felt this way about a medical place or health care provider.

    I can't speak as to all the doctors in this practice, but Dr Perciful is fantastic. She not only takes time to listen to my concerns, but also addresses them. Doesn't take long from waiting room to the exam room. No sitting around collecting dust- like many practices I've had the misfortune of going to. I called yesterday, not feeling well. Scheduled an e- appointment same afternoon and had meds waiting at pharmacy soon after.

    This was the first time seeing a new provider there. Candace was great, they were on time and I definitely was satisfied with the new provider. On a side note, prior to that I saw Dr. Khalsa and loved her too. Was bummed to hear she left, but happy with my new provider. Also the medical assistants for both providers were great.

    I hate change...when Dr Khulsa retired, I was sad because she was the best. However, meeting my new provider was great. Furthermore, she was able to resolve a medical/financial issue I was having with a different provider that will end up saving me thousands! I was in tears; I was so thankful. If looking for a great primary care provider with personal flare...no need to look further! When there, take a moment to enjoy the amazing view from the parking lot. One of my favorites views that overlook our fair city.
