Albuquerque Midtown Public Health Office

Bar Public health department

😠 This is the most horrible place to spend an eternity at. Once you arrive an hour prior to open you have to hope they are giving away enough "tickets" to allow you to get a birth certificate for the day. If you are lucky enough to get a golden ticket you wait. It is as if you just boarded a plane hom... People often mention number, birth, certificate, wait, called, time, office,

This is the most horrible place to spend an eternity at. Once you arrive an hour prior to open you have to hope they are giving away enough "tickets" to allow you to get a birth certificate for the day. If you are lucky enough to get a golden ticket you wait. It is as if you just boarded a plane home from an unwanted business trip to Minneapolis where you've had diarrhea for weeks and you are stuck on the runway with tiny, smelly trolls who won't shut up. Just as your number gets closer to getting called, the one person who is running the whole place closes for lunch. There is ONE person working when there are 4 windows to allow the flow of things go smoother. It is acceptable for that person to go to lunch and try to pull themselves back together and contemplate why they chose this career path. They are gone for an hour and upon return it takes another hour to get anyone called back up to get a birth certificate. They have your number displayed on the wall and as it counts up you grow overwhelmed with excitement. As your number reaches the display you begin to realize the number in the wall is nowhere close to your number and the tickets are not being counted in numerical order. At this point you realize that your existence is merely to sit in a cesspool of the human underworld and wait to be consumed by the fact that you don't actually exist until you get your birth certificate. Once you loose all hope and finally decide to give in to the fact that you will never be called up, a small shred of hope pokes through the dark and you are finally confronted by a gentle man who explains to us he is the manager. And that they have to close. They would've been able to help more people, but the ample supply of idiots and their futile attempts at successfully being able to communicate with the overlords at the window renders a longer wait time and infuriating feelings of rage. Another day maybe... another chance to get your birth certificate either here or face the same situation up in Santa Fe. I will never know. DO NOT GO HERE!!! Give up on your hope for an official existence and mail your application to the state for your birth certificates. Trust me. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE STAY AWAY!!!

I arrived at around 7:10am, a line was starting to form, they let us in at 7:30. I was the 4th person to grab a ticket. A lady helped a woman with the first ticket with a birth certificate @ around 8am, just to get things going. Shortly after, a man came out and announced what you need to have before your number is called to make the process quicker and easier, he also talked about why the wait time may take a while etc. It was quite empty, perhaps because it was a Monday. I was called at around 8:25, it was quick and painless and I felt all of the staff was very nice and helpful. The woman that worked on my birth certificates was quick and friendly. I was in and out in no time. I really thought this was going to be a nightmare. But it wasn't. Here are my tips! *Arrive early. 7:00 - 7:30 is a good time if you are wanting to get in and out. *Be prepared. There are forms and pens provided. Make sure you know what you'll need and bring it. Don't be lost when they call you up that just slows everyone else down. *They won't take credit/debit so come prepared with the right method of payment.

Years ago, I was going here to get quarterly STI testing in conjunction with my PrEP, but I would frequently get turned away with a plethora of excuses. I called today to ask some questions and see if things had changed. Apparently not. Nobody answers the phone, and eventually, the voice mail system just hangs up on you. What's the point of having a public health office if they don't serve the public? I got a response, which you can see below. Guess what I got at the other end? Another voicemail. What a waste of time.

I've been going here for 20yrs+ in 2021 the "new & older secretaries acussed me of " nodding off" & had another worker threaten to kick me out if I didn't stay awake! Now 1st of all my head was positioned down for quite a while because I was playing a game on my phone, and the phrase nodding off relates to being under the influence of a downer/drug which information I was honest about when asked by the new secretary she also made a HUGE SCENE by banging on one of the plexiglass things in the waiting room as if to scare me/wake me up I turned around wondering if she was trying to get someone's attention outside or something. Very embarrassing & hurtful. Go work elsewhere prejudice lady.

PACKED!!! They started at number 41 and I was number 74 and I waited less than 2 hours. I would say it was fairly smooth consider it is a government office. Will definitely come here rather than wait two months or pay 50 bucks to get a birth certificate. Will also show up a little earlier.

If I could give them no stars I would. There's one lady that's extremely rude and degrading in the front office. She hates her job and you can tell. If I could give them no stars I would. BEWARE! DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION FOR WIC!

There was hardly a wait, I thought most the staff was pretty rude, but the nurse on the other hand took care of that, she was awesome, and really showed concern, and actually made me feel comfortable, and answered all my questions, didn't leave me hanging! But the receptionist , BOOOOOOOOOO!

0 stars if it was possible. Worst Department of Health office in Albuquerque. Went in for a routine blood draw 11/2/2023; Sloppy female unprofessional phlebotomist left me with painful bruising (hemolysis) at my injection site from Poor Procedural habits such as incorrect needle size or excessive suction or both. I am a healthy active 30 something male who also works in phlebotomy and trusted the New Mexico Department of Health to be professionals. My experience is NOT the norm, or standard or the exception. I brought up my concern to the annoyed "Manager" Jody who could have cared less about my concerns, pain and bruising. I reached out to the concerns hotline but no response. Phlebotomy is a serious skill that can really hurt people for life if done wrong. THIS PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICE WILL PHYSICALLY HURT/INJURE YOU AND NOT CARE. GO ANYWHERE ELSE! Jerome Martinez 11/04/2023

The NM DOH is a joke. I have called every single office in Albuquerque and not one time did I get an answer. One number 841-5100 said my call would be answered when my turn in line came about. 30 seconds later, it disconnected me. I tried this number several times. How do I get a vaccination card for my 86 year old mother who lives in Los Lunas, was vaccinated in Belen, and was never given the white vaccine card. Don't say VaxView; I tried this several times and the site keeps asking for a pin number. I did make contact with the Santa Fe office and was told I would have to request the card from an Albuquerque office but they didn't know which one. The DOH in Belen has no phone number. You should be ashamed and embarrassed to work for the NM DOH!!!

I came to the Midtown Public Health Office really early to get a birth certificate....Marsha and Sylvia where super, super friendly with top notch customer service skills that will melt an ice cream cone. Furthermore Marsha was very accurate, organized, and efficient when she prepared my birth certificate. Sylvia was very welcoming with a enthusiastic smile.. Good job everyone in the Birth Certificate Department...

Walk-in Clinic. Arrive right when they open. Sit and wait for an hour to be told they "hit their daily limit and cannot do any test. Would you like to make an appointment?". This is the state of public affairs. They care more about your gender identity than your actual health, time, and reality.

My experience for my appointment today was incredibly positive! The clerks were friendly and helpful in getting me checked in, and the tech who drew my blood was wonderful. I didn’t get his name but he had brown hair and was working on a Wednesday morning — he made me feel so, so comfortable and eased any anxiety I felt going in. Absolutely recommend going to this location if you need help/services with the clinic
