The medical professionals who work in SHAC are typically super nice and caring people but whoever answers the phone (female voice) is one of the rudest people I have ever had to interact with when scheduling an appointment. If you want a good lesson in how to not answer phone calls and talk to customers/patients just give SHAC a call.

despite copious amounts of money being thrown into online classes last year, and the ridiculous expectations the school places on students in not getting infected, there’s no testing without symptoms? even if you were exposed to someone who also goes to the school with you? also receptionist anisia, not sure if you’re having a bad day or what, but you were truly miserable to speak to. have some better phone demeanor. you’re treating sick, broke students.

Some good, some bad. The SHAC makes it incredibly difficult to get them medical information, requiring fax or drop off. It's 2016, folks. Who uses fax machines? For a grad student on north campus, going to the SHAC is almost impossible given time and distance. Enter the 21st Century, SHAC. Please.

Aesthetically pleasing interior building and very kind and attentive staff! I went there without an appointment to get the flu shot and they did it right away without any problems!

Usually a pretty good experience here. But I felt the need to comment today because the phlebotomist on staff around 10:30 am today was amazing. Great to talk to, quick to find the vein and poke, and super efficient in her technique. I usually react poorly to having my blood drawn and she made the experience so much easier than it usually is.

The other reviews that mention the rude receptionist are absolutely correct. She deterred me from wanting to make an appointment here.

If you're a UNM student this is the place for you to get established with one of their many excellent primary care medical providers. Their ASAP clinic is a great clinic to get same day medical attention if needed. SHAC has so many amazing counselors that can be used for established care or if a student faces a crisis situation. Every single counselor I have interacted with has shown their caring and compassionate sides with the overall desire to ensure everyone is successful throughout their educational journey. There are so many other services that they offer to the student population from their allergy and immunization clinic or the travel clinic that can advise students traveling abroad. They even have a pharmacy for students, faculty, and staff!

I will start by saying the doctor I saw was great. Caring, pleasant, etc. etc. But the process to see the doctor is hard and trying to make an appointment is a mess. The person answering the phone was clearly annoyed that I happened to exist. When I arrived the first time I waited nearly two hours for a doctor because they didn’t notify her that I was there. The second time I arrived for a follow up, they told me my appointment wasn’t for another two weeks. I'm sure it was just a mistake but they blamed me for it instead of just owning it. Boo.

I've gone to SHAC several times and the doctors, nurses and staff are always so friendly and knowledgeable. I wish all clinics/hospitals were like SHAC. It's especially great to have a place to go on campus as a student. Keep up the good work!

Dr. Petersen and staff provide excellent urgent careI! In my experience, the staff here are kind, understanding of students' financial situations, and go out of their way to follow up with patients after release; you can tell that they really put patients' health and well-being first. The pharmacy is also fast and affordable.

Horrible service. Providers are lazy.. go somewhere else. Especially if you have a cold. They are so unhelpful.

They don't know anything about mental health/mental illnesses. Last year I went in for an appointment to try and get anxiety medication (that I'd been on for years before) and they told me I don't show symptoms of anxiety. A year later, I'm throwing up stomach acid 5-6 mornings a week because my anxiety is so severe, and I have trouble sleeping because I just end up shaking with anxiety. Hopefully they start offering dental care soon for when my teeth start rotting due to the acid! Also, shoutout to the receptionist lady who yelled at me for calling to ask for a COVID test on the weekend, and who has hung up on my friends mid-call.

😠 Avoid this clinic at all cost! They are rude and unprofessional to say the least. I was there Friday, my appointment was at 7:15 I was put into a room and left for over an hour and never once checked on. Once I did see someone I was given a prescription by a PA who didn’t even have the DEA credentia...

😠 This was the worst experience I've had in a health facility. When I arrived I was told the Wait would be 3 hours even though I had no warning of this online or over the phone when I called ahead. My afternoon plans were shot. After 1.5 hours I noticed that multiple people who came after me were ca...
