The
Clyde
was
formerly
a
Hyatt
Hotel,
changing
over
on
April
1st
2022.
I
am
here
for
a
writer's
conference
of
over
600
attendees
that
was
contracted
with
the
Hyatt
two
years
ago.
My
reservation
has
been
made
for
quite
a
few
months.
I
have
no
way
of
knowing
whether
the
experience
would've
been
different
with
the
Hyatt
hotel,
but
it
can't
have
been
any
worse.
At
the
outset,
we
were
appalled
at
the
$25
per
day
Amenity
Fee
that
the
new
Clyde
hotel
is
charging.
It
does
include
free
parking,
but
most
of
the
attendees
FLEW.
The
few
that
did
drive
can't
even
use
the
parking
that
we
don't
need,
because
they
don't
allow
it.
It
would
seem
that
the
new
management
MUST
have
known
that
the
conference
was
booked
long
in
advance.
A
crowd
of
600
that
take
over
your
entire
hotel
would
stick
out.
You
would
think
that
they
would've
arranged
for
adequate
staffing
-
but,
you'd
be
wrong.
Skeleton
crew
at
best,
and
that's
with
borrowing
staff
from
other
area
properties.
Waiting
40+
minutes
for
an
elevator,
and
then
being
told
"The
problem
is,
you
all
want
to
use
it
at
the
same
time."
Inexcusable.
Waiting
45+
minutes
at
the
one
bar
for
a
drink?
No
one
to
clean
up
tables
in
the
extended
seating
area,
so
we
ended
up
bussing
our
own
tables.
No
restaurant
in
the
hotel?
Room
service
orders
that
never
show
up?
Food
ordered
at
the
bar
takes
30-40
minutes
to
arrive,
is
cold
when
we
get
it,
server
doesn't
bring
napkins,
condiments,
salt
&
pepper.
Two
burgers,
one
Coke
was
$60.
NO
HOUSEKEEPING
all
day,
and
when
I
called
at
5:30
pm
to
complain,
I
was
told
they
were
gone
for
the
day.
I
had
to
beg
for
towel
service,
and
that
hasn't
arrived
yet
after
a
half
hour.
So
much
for
the
quick
shower
I
had
hoped
to
take
before
a
reception
at
6:30
pm.
Oh,
and
the
"breakfast
buffet"
scheduled
for
tomorrow
morning
is
$28
per
person.
Dinner
buffet
is
$48
a
head.
With
no
restaurant
in
the
hotel,
I
guess
the
management
thinks
they
have
a
captive
audience.
Wrong.
This
is
a
crime
fiction
writer's
conference.
Imaginative
ways
to
spread
the
word
on
these
failures
is
not
lacking.
What
is
lacking
is
any
chance
we'll
ever
stay
at
any
of
the
Heritage
Properties,
and
a
return
visit
to
Albuquerque
is
dangling
by
a
thread,
too.
