The people that were guests like myself were very friendly. I asked the host to see if there was a wait and she said no. So I went to grab my family from the car and came back to the restaurant. Then she told my wife to wait for an open table. So the host lied to me and I was not happy about that. Then we waited for like 10 minutes and a couple came in, walked to the host and she sat them right away! She came back and looked at us and said are you ready? Just wow! I said to myself, so I proceeded to go to the table and review this place. This establishment's customer service is not the greatest. We waited for our server for another 15 or 20minutes to get our drinks. The water is tap water you can taste it. We placed our order and waited for our food for about an hr. Our complimentary chips and salsa came with our dinner. The food was cold as you can see in my picture. I got the steak and breaded chili with rice and beans. The rice was overcooked! It’s like eating mashed potatoes and it was gross. The beans were bland and the lettuce was old. The lettuce was slimy and wasn’t crunchy. The breaded chili with cheese was good. It had flavor from the red and green chili sauce on it. Without the sauce, it would be bland. The steak was cold and dry. I asked for medium cooked and they gave me medium well done. My lips didn’t smack at this joint! The other dishes I tried were disappointing also. The adovada tasted sour like it was old meat. It was gross! Overall I was not satisfied with the plates I got. The place looks nice just not the food. The service was horrible, the host is a lair and seems racist cause of my skin color. Food is cold with overcooked mashed rice, bland beans, old veggies, and sour meat. Nah I’m straight with this place, don’t waste your money for real!!!

Really great restaurant. The food is excellent. Carne adovada is delicious. Nice big portions. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Restaurant is very clean and well maintained. Have a good size patio. They usually have a mariachi band or guitarist to play.

This place has really great food! I always come for happy hour and the food and service is always stellar. During happy hour they have a band in the bar area. Happy hour starts at 3 everyday!! Some of the best things on the menu, fish tacos, shrimp tostada, frito pie and cheese fries!!! Prices are excellent during happy hour. 🤤 Been to both locations, ONLY GO TO THE MONTGOMERY LOCATION! You’ll thank me later.

Food was good, not great. The atmosphere sold it entirely though. Beautiful restaurant. The mariachi band was incredible. We asked our waitress and she got them to come to our table, and they performed so dang well. They even played twinkle twinkle little star for my nephew who was with us and only wanted to hear that 😂 100% recommend this place.

Outstanding service and very good food. The atmosphere is wonderful with numerous decorations. Our server was friendly and attentive. The tiramasu was excellent! Yes, they had tiramasu. The salmon enchiladas were great, too.

Probably some of the best New Mexican fare I've had in Albuquerque! They have a big menu stuffed with traditional favorites and unique dishes. I got the blue corn enchiladas which were great. Their chips and salsa were also great and had just enough spice. The building is massive and I really like the decorations that make you feel like you're in Mexico. Service was very friendly and helpful as well!

We loved the food and overall atmosphere here! Super kind staff, and beautiful building. The mariachi band was playing, and they were so wonderful. The cheese quesadilla was fantastic, the taquitos my husband got were super crispy, and the nachos were super enjoyable too. Overall such a neat experience here, and can’t wait to come back soon!

The food was delicious and the portions are HUGE!!! I had a house margarita on the rocks, which was just "ok," but I'm still pleased overall with my dining experience.

We enjoyed the first time we were at El Patron and decided to go back. All I can say is fantastic! Everyone from the host to the servers were polite and attentive. Even the manager came to our table to check to make sure our meals and service were good. We had the chili con queso with tortilla chips for an appetizer. It was very good! Slightly spicy with hearty chips. The Chicken Mushroom Lasagna and the Enchilada Chicken Casserole were outstanding! Portions were generous, so looking forward to lunch tomorrow! I highly recommend and we will be going back soon. Well, we came back! Again exceptional service by Parker! Outstanding service, went well out of his way to make an enjoyable experience! Had to get the queso again! So good with crispy chips and slightly spicy queso. We split the green chili chicken lasagna this time. Plenty for two people! Topped it off with a house Chardonnay…wonderful! Ask for Parker and you won’t be disappointed!

Very yummy food. Had the carne adovada enchiladas and they were AMAZING two of my favorite things out together so i might be biased. My honey had the enchilada casserole and the serrano cream sauce was to die for. We also had a mimosa and a exotic something or other margarita. Would recommend and will be coming back.

We ordered the fajitas, they were fantastic. However, caned beans!! Wow, I'd say a big no-no, especially in New Mexico. The rice was mushy and tasteless. And the garnish plate for the fajitas was so tiny and no cheese. The plate shown with the veggie fajitas is how the garnish plate came. Our drink cups were hilarious. I felt like I was using a kids cup at a cafeteria, ha. The service was fantastic!!! I understand inflation is here, but you can't skimp out your quality and raise your prices. I paid $80 for two adults one child, with a $20 tip. I expected better quality for the cost. There are way better New Mexican restaurants in albuquerque.

Great New Mexican food with great service. Jonah was very attentive. Good atmosphere with mariachi band. Blue corn enchiladas beef or chicken is delicious as well as the combination plates (big portions)

Fantastic food at a great price! I had heard good things and that this place had the best in town, and it is a spot-on reputation! The place is very clean and the staff is extremely friendly. The decor is very well done and looks like it wasn't cheap! The chips and salsa were very good, however, the salsa could use a little more flavor. I found that adding in their very fresh pico de gallo and a little hot sauce makes it very good! The reputation is well deserved! The top shelf is one of the best I've ever had! Our server explained that a lot of places add water to their mix and El Patron doesn't do that. It shows! The food was fresh and hot, very tasty, and the portions will leave you stuffed! Since this dinner review I have already visited again, and I will continue to do so.

Truly excellent Mexican food! For years, since Baca's closed, my husband has been looking for a replacement chile relleno. We found it!! Sylvester was an excellent server and gave me the wonderful recommendation of a seafood enchilada with Serrano Cream sauce. Oh my!! FaBuLoUs! Both Frank and I were beyond PLEASED. Atmosphere was lovely too.

What a beautiful restaurant. They have these great iron chandeliers and beautiful artwork on the walls and the wonderful tile work makes you feel very comfortable while eating lots of good comfort food. They're not shy about their spices here and you get that feeling of authentic Mexican food. The service was fantastic, the food was spicy diverse and delicious. Fresh baked thin and crispy chips were fantastic to start with. We're coming for a bigger meal later but we had appetizers in this visit. Definitely a go-to place for good food and great service with a lovely atmosphere.

My family and I really enjoy this place. The atmosphere is fantastic, and almost always has live music when we go, normally at dinner time.

I went on a Friday before noon. There was a lot of available parking and the parking lot is large. I had an option to sit inside or out. I picked inside and got a table with great view if the inside decor. Food was delicious. My complaint is they serve those paper thin tortilla chips. If you order an appetizer they bring the better chips which makes it easier to stack guacamole. I went here from a suggestion of a friend and didn’t regret everything he told me to try. The enchiladas casserole!

A big “meh” at El Patron. We tried the restaurant on a Wednesday evening. There wasn’t a crowd, so there was no wait. I had the ground beef enchiladas with red sauce, refried beans (substituted for the pinto beans), and Mexican rice. The enchiladas were flat enchiladas and enjoyable. The refried beans didn’t make a particular impression either way. The Mexican rice was soupy and not something I’d choose to have again. The entire dish seemed wet. The restaurant was open until 9pm, and we were seated before 8pm. The server seemed very anxious to clear us out and kept pacing back and forth in front of the table. Though there were other tables and diners in the restaurant, we were the server’s last table. He did not introduce himself, chat at all, or be particularly friendly in any way. Overall, not a memorable experience either way. They’ve added a surprise inflation surcharge that appears on your receipt. Mediocre service and soupy food equal a “meh” in my book. I likely won’t return. Food: 3/5 Service: 2/5

The food was tasty. The steak took 2 attempts. The first was overcooked and super small.
