For our first backpacking trip, hike was perfect. The hike in/out was quiet and beautiful. Of course there were bugs, but with the proper repellent, we sustained minimal mosquito bites. The hike took just under an hour, with some occasional stops to soak in the beauty. Our site was South Point #4, which was very secluded. The site receives a lot of wind, as you may see in other reviews, however it helped greatly with bugs/mosquitos. The wind prevented most insects from being able to fly, so we had virtually no issue with bugs/mosquitos at the actual site. If we adventured from the site, that was a different story. Repellent is highly recommended. Some additional positive points. The fire pit has a rock wall built to help block wind and help start a fire. A bear box is included about 100 ft from the actual site, along with a vaulted toilet. I know you can't ask for much, but the toilet was def a single star. lol Overall, this trip was Perfect... Perfect... Perfect.

Negwegon State Park is a wilderness exploration waiting to happen! Several miles of trails go deep into wooded area full of pine trees and Birch trees. There is a lot of beachfront to explore too, and dispersed campsites for people who really want to get away for a weekend in the deep woods. It is a several miles long rough dirt road to get to the gravel road where the Park entrance is, it is really just a two-track trail that will be a lot harder to drive on in bad weather or in wet seasons. There is a small parking lot and a few vault toilets and it is a Dark Sky Preserve which has a great view of Lake Huron. This Park is for people who like wilderness camping, exploring wooded trails, and enjoy a long beach walk.

This place is a true Michigan gem. It's lovingly cared for, wild, and scenic. Great swimming in many areas. The back country campsites are spectacular. They are primitive and remote.... Expect to carry in or filter water from the lake, use a vault privie with no roof, and either hang your food from a bear pole or use a bear box (both are provided) . Be prepared to cut (down and dead) firewood if you're camping.... Bring a saw. I had to hike a bit from my campsite to find anything to cut. So you'll probably need to cut and carry firewood from some distance. The trail in is easy .... Flat, well used and marked, with bridges over mucky areas, and a few benches. The public beach is lovely, there's good rock hunting up toward the point if you're into hiking to other parts of the shoreline. Great trail system. The drive in on the two track sand trail road is ok most of the time but I would imagine you need 4 wheel drive occasionally. It's all sand.

Very nice, clean relaxing and quiet beach. Scenic all around. Hiking, swimming and exploring more of Michigan's splendor. Outhouse, no grills and no picnic tables. This park is well off the main road. Driving to the main entrance can be tricky. Room for one car only, but there are places to pull off and allow traffic by. Great for star gazing. Caught a meteor shower, Mars and Mars reflecting off the lake... What a sight to see.

One of the most beautiful and peaceful beaches ever. I can't wait to go back. Warmer than Lake Superior. Not rough like Lake Michigan. Not dark and murky like Lake Erie. It's the best of all the great Lakes. Sand is a little tough walking through from the parking lot to the beach ⛱️ but the beach is easy to walk

Absolutely must to visit place for clean quiet beach lovers! About 3 miles walking beach. The road is very narrow and sandy. No pets.

This is a rustic State Park! Very pretty, not a lot of people! The trails are easy! 7 miles of unspoiled beaches!!

Excellent back county State Park campground. The hike in is great for beginners or individuals looking to try backpacking for the first time. The hike loop is gorgeous! We saw many deer and a skunk! I highly recommend this park for people looking to experience the wilderness of Michigan from the quiet refuge of a tent.

Beautiful little park hidden away..... getting there on the dirt road would possibly be a deterrent depending on the weather (or vehicle I had to drive the 3-miles there).... but AWESOME beach space... all rustic👍 We did the trail out and back parallel to the water, peaceful ❤️..... However, we went on a beautiful October afternoon.... others have had bug experiences... Worth making the trip at least once (although we ARE entertaining a rustic camping trip thete🤗) Pure Michigan

If you want to get away from people and civilization, this is the best place. 3 mile 2 track on either way of getting there. The drive through the woods is amazing and so is the beach! Absolutely STUNNING night sky view. You haven't really seen the stars until you've been to an official dark park. This is a completely rustic and all nature place. The beauty is that other then footprints. You'd never know anyone had been there. Untouched by man.

Beautiful beach. Never too crowded. Bring your own chairs/blankets, no picnic tables.

It was a great weekend for a hike through the woods. Beautiful, but a little over 5 miles for the loop got tedious with thick leaves covering the protruding rocks and roots. I stumbled and miss stepped several times.

Sunrise sand beach. A place where you ponder how life can be so beautiful and why you get to be here enjoying this jewel. Quiet. Simple. Easy. Few amenities.

Absolutely gorgeous and great hiking trails! 10/10 recommended. Might need a 4wheel drive to get back there very sandy and soft in some parts of the road.

This place is tucked way back in, you have to take seasonal roads to get to it. There are some wonderful hiking trails and 4 tent campsites that can be reserved. Two of them were right on the water, I believe the other two are as well but we couldn't take the trail due to nesting eagles. It's also a dark sky preserve, so it's probably gorgeous at night.

The beach is always awesome. Not super crowded even during holiday time of the year. Hard to get to but worth it.

If you're willing to take the trail to get back there, you will not be disappointed. Minimal human intervention in the park. A lot of hiking possibilities and the beach is quite nice. All campsites have to be hiked to. Very quiet and peaceful Back there.
