One of the worst meals I've had in years in terms of quality, quantity for price and presentation. I've worked in Mexican restaurants in California (both family-owned and mid-range chain), and I have been a customer of great Mexican restaurants in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado, and in Mexico and other countries as well as in Madrid, Spain for at least 4 decades. We ordered Sopa Azteca (chicken tortilla soup x2), Mole Poblano, Cochinita Pibil and Arroz Mexicano to go (take away). I arrived early and live close by, so food should have been at its best. First, they piled all of the condiments that were supposed to be served on the side , the bits of corn tortillas, guacamole and sour cream, into a single container with the soup so that it became a huge mush - we threw away about half. Second, the Mole was only adequate in flavour and the Cochinita was neon red and sweet (supposed to be at least moderately spicy with a little sweet), and the portion sizes, though half rations, were twice as expensive as they should have been. Third, the Arroz was inedible. It was undercooked and loaded with onions and frozen peas. I've never eaten Mexican rice that was this bad. Also the servings were barely larger than the half rations and were wildly expensive for what was given. Almost all of it went into the trash. Fourth, they wrapped cold and broken corn tortillas in foil and passed them off as tortillas ready to be eaten with the meal. After heating the tortillas at home, they crumbled into unusable bits. The entire meal cost about 42€, about 30€ too much. I will never go back. It pains me to think that the only restaurant in town that serves my favourite kind of food is so worthless. They won't be around for long, though. I predict they fold by October 2016.

Two experiences at this restaurant and two bad tastes in my mouth. The first time was the awful truly terrible molé sauce which was earthy and chocolately in a really gross way, and the Mexican rice was a poor imitation of real Mexican food. I’m guessing the owner has no idea what real Mexican food is like. The second time I went I was six months pregnant, and walked into the open door of the restaurant only to be turned away because they were still walking in. He didn’t even offer me a place to sit for five minutes while they opened up! The owner is a jerk and the food is way too overpriced for a cheap imitation of Mexican food.

The food is amazing and the service is alike. I highly recommend to order the Combo, because the portions are large and you get a margarita

We came here for dinner and they brought us to a table in their basement which was comfortable. We ordered nachos and the group menu. I found all the food to be soggy and tasteless. I did however like the fact that the habaneros were spicy. The service was also very good. The meal came out to over 30 euros per person with about one beer per person on top of the appetizer and menu. The star is for all their friendly employees. I would not recommend the food here although the drinks were good. I’m not sure if they still offer a tenedor discount, but their pricing seems to be adjusted for later applying a discount.

Extremely overpriced and disappointing. We had a vegetarian quesadilla and it was tasteless. We could have done the same with industrial products from the supermarket. Then we had the 43€ tortillas deal for two people, but it was very small in size. The tortillas were again very average, like the ones you buy at the supermarket. Only the chicken was tasting something interesting, the rest was anecdotical. And finally they give like a tablespoon of guacamole for 2 people, it should have been an entire bowl. Bottom line: average food, small portions, very pricey, nothing like the real Mexican food Edit to answer the reply: Sorry but you're mistaking me with someone else, we did not take any takeaway. Regarding the judgement on my budget, I didn't pay for it as I'm on a business trip. I'm sorry you found my review disrespectful, but reviews are meant to share how we felt with the food. We went to a lot of restaurants this week and it was the only time we felt that much disappointed. I wanted to answer because the points you raised in your reply are incorrect and very defensive. You're free to retrospect on our review internally or ignore it.

Wonderful welcome, the owner takes great delight in describing and explaining the various dishes and they are all as good as he says. Nothing is too much trouble for him. I travel from the centre of Madrid just to come here. Can't recommend it highly enough.

I used to frequent this place a bit when I worked in Boadilla. The staff is great. Very friendly and accommodating. The cook gives generous tapas with the drinks. However if you're looking for quality Mexican food, I wouldn't recommend El Chingon. I would however recommend ordering a michelada. I've had the best micheladas in my life here.

Great food and service! Everything about the restaurant demonstrates a careful attention to detail from the authentic agua de tamarindo to the tidiness and decor.

👍 Very good food from Asturias. We were there for dinner and for starters we tried croquetas mixtas, that's 4 jamón (Iberian ham) and 4 with cabrales cheese, they were very tasty. Salad with tuna it's a classic. And the star of the night, Cachopo stuffed with jamón, cabrales cheese and apple. We orde...
