Oh dear. Expected better food. Ok but nothing special. Bar area is tiny and you have to reach across a sofa to actually get any service. Tent for eating in needs a clean but it’s nice for atmosphere.

Staff great and usually very happy with the food. Unfortunately, this occasion the burger was dry and under seasoned. The £20 for 3 courses used to be excellent value but now portions are miniscule. Meatballs worse than the burger, small, hard and dry. Disappointed ☹️

Nice pub and nice overnight stay. Rooms are smartly set up, and pub is friendly. Great place for my evening business meeting too. I've just had a second visit here and it's just as good, if not better, than last time. The room I had this time was larger than last time. Also the dinner was a notch up too.

Had a great evening with a group of 10 seated in the garden . Friendly and efficient service and lovely food well presented. It was so refreshing to have a number of excellent vegetarian choices - make sure to ask for the veggie menu to make sure you see all the choices. Good dining with a traditional feeling old taproom too.

Excellent, reasonably priced rooms, nice restaurant, friendly staff, A bit off the beaten track but within 25min of Reading.

Really nice stay and dinner here. The food was of high quality and the staff were really friendly. The room needed a deeper clean but it was a very stylish room with a clear theme.

Just stopped in randomly for dinner and a pint whilst out travelling on business.. Lucky for me, it was Italian night! And wow, did I choose the right time to drop in, The lasagne was absolutely phenomenal! Pub was super cool and decorated really quirky, really would recommend. The food and service were excellent, I didn't stay here, so I can not comment on that.

Stayed overnight on a Monday when the pub was closed. Unfortunately unable to raster the food. Nice clean room.

Went for a meal and found it was a night they were doing a very good deal! The 3 courses were all good, not huge, but just right and great value.

Shocking food. Freezer/microwave/fryer style. Nothing fresh at all. Semi dry/part frozen bread. Uncooked batter on fish n chips dish. Over microwaved slime on mac n cheese mess. Not a fresh vegetable in sight on a clearly frozen stock menu. Owner/staff argues own agenda of all fresh rather than listening or frankly, caring. Same ownership as the Bladebone in Bucklebury, so assume thats now also as dire. Shame. Fab locations & buildings. Garden lovely. Wine/drinks good. Service! What?? Food: just DONT BOTHER!

Great location. Ideal for walkers. Welcoming, cosy, good service, quality food. We had the Sunday roast with beef and one vegetarian Sunday roast. We will definitely be back!

What a beautiful location for a pub - a quintessential British pub with good beers in a comfortable environment. We sat outside in the sun and enjoyed a quick beer while out on a walk.

We are here last night the food was excellent . Service, although efficient was poor quality. The staff looked miserable did not smile , make us welcome or converse at all just hastily plonked the food down not even pouring the wine . It was just a shame it did not fit the quality of the food or the pub.

Was our first time visiting, unfortunately we won't be returning the service was shocking we were waiting a while to be seated where we were seated in a very small bar as the dining room was full. We had to wait a while to be served for drinks. The food was ok. The atmosphere did put us off our food as the conversation in the bar area was disgusting especially against women and discussion of women's anatomy. I don't think people should be seated in the bar area for food. With a 10% service charge was laughable.

I love this pub and the food is always excellent. Each course came quickly and tasted fantastic. But I think the service has gone downhill - slow to clear plates, didn't ask if more drinks were wanted, etc. We were charged for an extra veg portion for our roast as we were only given 3x between 7 people (normally 1 veg between 2 people) and this wasn't removed from the bill. As well as this, we had a platter for 2 people which only had 3x roast potatoes on it - but a standard roast has 3x potatoes per person. So not sure if they expected us to cut a potato in half 🤷🏼‍♀️. When we asked for a couple more, we noticed this was also charged on our bill at the end and they wouldn't remove it either. Just really didn't feel like the normal experience at The Bull, which is a shame.

A beautiful place. Lovely spacious rooms. Clean and very comfortable. Amazing value for money and great location. Staff are quality. Highly recommended.

Excellent food. Service was very slow. The management need to ensure that enough waitresses are on for each shift at a restaurant of this standard. Excellent food but let down massively by the fact only two waitresses were on shift. We’ll be back but hope that enough serving staff are employed next time we visit.

Well decorated and comfortable bed. Staff are very friendly. The shower isn't great (they are all new but have very little pressure and there wasn't any shower gel available) which lets it down a little but it was so well priced that I think that is a reasonable compromise and still deserves its 5 stars.

Excellent pub for a birthday meal. Sunday roast is very reasonable and well presented. The drinks are reasonably priced with excellent fast table service. Plenty of seating indoors, but also large garden area to eat if sunny.

Another excellent dinner with friends last night at the Bull. The £20 for three courses deal really can't be beaten, and the portions seemed a bit bigger than last time as well. Staff very friendly and efficient too. We will be back soon.
