😠 We are waiting for 2 hours for a routine scheduled appointment. It has been like that every time we had an appointment here. There are some serious issues with management of the hospital.     I visited the urgent care section of the hospital on 4/23/2019. The service was excellent, and the receptionists, technicians, and doctors all seemed to know a bit of English (i do not speak Portugese). I saw Doctor Jorge Velez, and I thought he was very professional. If you do not have an appointment, it might take a bit of time, but I was able to see a doctor fairly quickly. The cost of consultation, X-Ray, and blood test is inexpensive compared to USA costs.

    Having read the other reviews I have to say that I cannot understand the negative comments. We arrived and tried to enter using the wrong entrance, the girl at the desk was very helpful and directed us (speaking perfect English) to the correct entrance. We then took a number and waited until our appointment time. I was called a couple of minutes early and dealt with pleasantly by all the staff. We then went and paid and the guy at the front desk went out of his way to be helpful by calling us a taxi. I cannot imagine how this difficult time for us could have been dealt with any better than it was. Many thanks to all the people that have helped us this evening.

    A big warning for this scamming hospital. They charge a lot for a surgery then they charge extra even for appointments they book in which are clearly part of the surgery itself. They are also very disorganized and their communication is a mess. Stay away from them. You still end up waiting a very long time each time you go.

    Recepcionists who answer the phone are hysterical and rude. The worse!! The lady who answered to me and didn’t want to transfer to her boss or the person I called for, started yelling as crazy to me. Asking me personal information but she denied to give me even her name or transfer the call. I even advise her to take a valium and she hung up on me. Crazy lady

    Been there today with my husband for an MRI scan. Having read the reviews prior to the appointment, we expected a bad experience. But we had a very good experience - everybody was pleasant to us, spoke English (as we don't speak much Portuguese yet), gave us helpful directions, called us a taxi back and overall was very helpful. In terms of waiting times, we arrived about 30 mins early and had to wait a bit at the reception. But it wasn't a long wait. We then went through to the MRI exam quite quickly as well. In fact, the MRI guy let us into the room 2 minutes before the time of our appointment. There were quite a lot of people in the hospital but I thought the staff followed the Covid measures and procedures quite orderly so I didn't notice any chaos.

    Our experience with this hospital is really top. Very helpful from the first reception to the last. We were helped very well and since we do not yet speak the Portuguese language, in perfect English. Thanks to everyone and certainly also to Dr Martins. This deserves a big 10 for us.

    Fantastic service, staff and facilities throughout the hospital, as arrived for my MRI and it took less than 40mins from entering reception to driving out of their underground car park. First time using this hospital due to normally using both IPO & CHUC hospital for other treatments but MRI on knee was not covered by Portuguese health system on a quick turn around and we found Hospital da Luz almost €100 cheaper than the Hospital that sounds like Cough (not mentioning names). We made the appointment over the phone and less than 7 days waiting time. Very impressed with the Quality of Service throughout - Truly Excellent! P.S. Also got discount using Montepio Saúde Health Card.

    Mammogram and ultrasound checks everyone's helpful. Friendly and professional felt relaxed with all the helpful doctors .nurses and receptionistist would give them more stars 🌟 then five

    My wife and I have been going to this hospital for a couple of years. We have a family doctor (always late but doctors do have other patients with problems that need intervention, I like to think) speciality doctors for hematology, dermatology, gynecology and urology. They all have a specified amount of time to allot to each patient for consultations so sometimes it seems rushed but they have all been very professional and in almost all cases attentive and caring. The hospital is very busy and i think the receptionists do an excellent job of helping patients.
