You come here for the delicious food, not friendly service, lol! This is my FAVORITE Malaysian restaurant and I am so happy it's still open (We moved out of state almost 4 years ago.) They expanded to next door so now there is twice as much seating as originally. We got there just before 12pm on Sunday and were seated quickly. Then the lunch rush came and by the time we were done eating, there was a wait. My 12 and 14 year old gobbled everything up like Champs, despite the medium spiciness. We started with 2 Roti and an order of chicken skewers. You can't go wrong with those! The curry for the Roti had heat! My hubby got a Laksa noodle soup and my daughter got a flat noodle (with bowl of soup on side). I ordered a dry noodle. There were no leftovers!! You must try it!!! ^_~

Came here on a weeknight and enjoyed my dinner. It was something different for me! There’s a free parking garage close by. Nice vibes, friendly staff, quick service and good prices. The curry sauce and roti was tasty. Their noodles were great, the meat was on the sweet side, flavors were really heavy. Not to my personal preference but definitely well made. Would go back and try something different on the menu. Worth checking out!

Located in Alhambra, California is the unique Borneo Kalimantan Cuisine Restaurant. It is near E Main Street and N Garfield Ave with free covered parking only a block away. The restaurant is humble but quaintly furnished with brightly colored door motifs and interesting knick-knacks depicting the Indonesian lifestyle. The restaurant is small but very clean and the staff make you feel immediately welcomed. As we reviewed the menu, we discovered that many of the food items look very familiar to other Asian dishes; however, after trying them, it was enjoyable to discover that their flavor profile are very different from those other dishes. We started off with the “Es Cendol” dessert drink and “The Tarik” iced milk tea with grass jelly. Both drinks were sweet and refreshing. Next, we tried the Roti Prata, which is advertised as a pan-grilled pancake with a Borneo inspired dipping sauce. The dipping sauce is similar to yellow curry but with a nice kick to it. The Roti Prata is light and flaky. We also ordered the Nasi Rendang. This is a savory beef dish where the beef has been braised in coconut milk, herbs and spices until it turns a rich dark brown loaded with flavor. This dish is served with tofu, boiled egg, coconut rice, and other tasty side items. Additionally, we tried the Kwe Tiau Goreng Borneo, a very popular fried flat noodle dish. All of the food that we tried was a unique and satisfying experience. This is an excellent place to try a cuisine that is refreshingly different from many other offerings in this area.

Can’t vouch for the authenticity but everything was DELICIOUS! Very affordable. Food came out super fast. All servers here were very softly spoken and gentle. Highly recommend!

Had our hopes up for an authentic Singapore laksa and noodle experience but it fell just a bit short. Chicken yakitori skewers were probably our favorite. Hakka dry noodles were good but could've been a bit more flavorful. Laksa soup noodles were also tasty and spicy. Separate restrooms in the back and parking garage around the corner

Just like the name of the restaurant, borneo. Some of the food and taste is from that island. The chewy indo style noodle with chicken is really good. The chicken satay also good. Laksa also good. We like all the food we ordered.

Just around the corner from the busy Main St. restaurants and VERY worth the visit. Casual restaurant with delicious flavors. Although these cuisines are not what I grew up with, the food here gives a kind of comfort food feeling. Definitely will come back to try more.

Love this place. You can really taste the distinct Indonesian and Singaporean mix of flavors. Everything is just so good that you want to order more than you can eat. If you go during normal lunch or dinner hours you can expect a wait. If you have a sweet tooth, definitely try the Es Cendol dessert drink.

Very tasty food! The curry is flavorful, but not spicy (not sure is supposed to be; more fyi!). The chicken skewers with rice is tasty! Highly recommend the roti and curry. It is flaky, warm, and tasty. Some of us ate in, and others go some take out. The take out was pretty well packed, and traveled well. Those who ate there enjoyed their experience! We hope to be back soon!

This is a small comfortable little Indonesian restaurant in downtown Alhambra. The food is ok. I'd come back more often if it were better. The location is convenient for me and the service is always good which keeps me coming in for a quick bite. The hard boiled eggs are always way over boiled to the point of being a dark yellow/green color and crumbly. The rice has a chewy texture, not of a proper broken rice, but of a rice that's been left sitting out and reheated. The beverages are very good though. Not a bad place for a liquid treat.

Great Indonesian spot in Alhambra. My favs are the rice dishes like the lemak or rendang. They also have noodles and soups so there's always something good to try. Inside is simple. It's a bit of a narrow seating area so it's best for smaller groups. Portions are decent size. If you've never tried Indonesian, definitely check them out. Service is good. Friendly staff. There's parking structures within a block or two.

Got the the hokkien mie and the indo style plate. Both were good, but most of the photos under "Hokkien Mie" on here are actually the Indo Style. The dishes are similar but the Indo is cooked on the wok and you can order it spicy. It was spectacular.

Best Indonesian/Singaporean food in SoCal! I first tried Uncle Fung Borneo in Buena Park, which has the best chicken satay outside of Bali. Then I discovered this place in the 626 and had to try it. Turned out it's the parent restaurant of my favourite chicken satay place, no surprise. This place is legit, just wish there were closer locations, as I would be a regular here. Similar to the Uncle Fung restaurants, this place is small but comfortable. I went after the lunch rush on a Saturday, and there was barely any wait. If you've never tried Indonesian/Malaysian/Singaporean food but want to, or if you've been looking for a good place outside of Asia, this place should be top of your list.

So lucky that this restaurant is nearby. It's been on my list to try. Free parking in the building behind. The menu is quite limited but whats there is really good. I got the hakka mie with thin noodles and the Ant got Melayu rice. Next time I'll try the soups.

April 2023 - Got there 11:15 ish and it was packed shortly after we sat down! Food/Pricing - Nasi Lemak - $13.25 - Interesting seeing the meat cut up. I've seen it at other places as a whole drumstick or two. But still it was yum! Teh Tarik (iced w/ grass jelly) - $4.75 - My fave drink! Not too sweet and the grass jelly went well with the tea. Service/Ambiance - Prompt and friendly service. Parking - Small parking lot in the back but hey better than nothing!

First time trying Indonesian food and I was not disappointed! My favorite dish was the roti prata pancake which was warm and had a lovely flavor. The service was fast, friendly and excellent here.

1st time visiting this restaurant and I fall for it already. Delicious food and they serve so many different items. We love chicken sate, nasi rendang, nasi lemak, rujak, noodles soup and es cendol. Super yummy. Definitely we'll be back to try other things. More sucess.

For some reason, I had high expectations for this place. Thought it would be robust in flavor and spices. The dishes were good but super mild. No WOW factor or memorable. It's unassuming and on the main street. Based on some of the reviews...thought it would be more. It's not bad it's just not as expected. Likely do take out next time on the dry food items (rice, noodles, etc). The soup had a curry flavor. It's not really my kind of taste.

Flavorful dishes from Indonesia. Service was efficient and friendly. Chicken satay was unique as the meat was slightly marinated and slightly charred but still juicy. The char-su park is very good and goes well with both their egg noodles or rice. Highly recommend if you are interested or love Indonesia cuisine.

Noodle is my weakness, especially the type that this restaurant sells. I like the #2 and #4 the one with chicken mushroom. I also tried their Curry rice plate. If you are a noodle lover or want to try some South Asian dishes, I would recommend you to try this restaurant.

The food was very flavorful. We asked for auggestions and ordered what was suggested. The laksa was delicious. The rice dish was ok. Service was quick. Two of us were sharing but had to ask for bowls and then for plates.
