Open late night Chinese restaurant. Originally, the Old Country Cafe space so space is small. Food was decent. Can't complain when it's the only non bar food restaurant open late. Lots of to go/pick ups happening even around 10pm on a Tuesday evening. Their combo dishes seem pretty popular but we are family style.

I would have never found this place if my friend didn’t take me here. It really is small and hidden. Even Google took me to another restaurant’s parking lot (I parked at the Seafood private lot and thankfully didn’t get a ticket. Pretty sure they don’t check. I was here for an hour). My friend spoke mandarin so she helped order. It is very hardcore Chinese food (like pig parts but the knuckle area and it was tasty). We also ordered Shepard Wontons (it was good but the little shrimps with eyes grossed me out). It was good and decent priced.

The braised pork here is so good. It’s so rich in flavor and super savory. You won’t go wrong with any of the braised meat dishes. I highly recommend the braised pork rice with chopped peepers. The chopped peppers were pretty damn spicy. They don’t serve everything at the same time so make sure you start eating or your food WILL get cold—it was freezing in there! The beef noodle soup was really good too. The soup had a mild 麻辣 spice flavor in it or it might’ve been the peppers I had earlier, I’m not entirely sure 😅. The house special boiled fish fillet is really good if you’re into 麻辣. It’s not super spicy and they give you so much fish! There is parking behind the restaurant but you can only enter on valley. There’s underground parking too.

I initially came here for their Beef Noodle Soup, but now I'm obsessed with their Sichuan Dan Dan Noodle 🍜😆! While their beef noodle soup tends to be on the sweeter side and a bit too oily for my taste, it's still decent, just not my preference. And I do wish they provided pickled mustard greens, which, in my opinion, are a must when enjoying beef noodle soup. 🙃 On the other hand, the Dan Dan Noodle is fantastic! 🌟 It's a bowl bursting with incredible savory and spicy flavors. The addictive combination of vinegary and spicy sauce keeps me coming back for more. 🤤 Looking forward to trying their braised pork rice next time 🐷

Tiny hole in the wall place? Very limited English? I'm in! Luyixian is a mom & pop restaurant, specializing in braised pork. Of the plethora of Asian eateries in & around the area, something about Luyixian drew me in & knew I had to stop by for lunch. Braised pork is their specialty, but what part of the pig should I get? Being a culinary ambassador of offal affection, I chose the braised intestines w/ rice. Braised intestines- Chewy, yet not rubbery, the braised intestines were clean & abounded with flavor. The accoutrement of assorted vegetables, hardboiled egg & hot soup made for a hearty, filling meal. Service was good. A sweet old lady welcomed me, and she was all smiles. Communication wasn't a problem. I simply pointed to the item I wanted to order on the menu. I think phone orders would be an issue, for those not fluent in Mandarin. Luyixian has a limited amount of seating. Not conducive to accommodating large groups. Parking is via a shared private lot, with more underground. On Valley Blvd., it is a quick right after Garfield Ave. I missed it & parked at the parking lot adjacent to Luyixian's, and had to come back around, in case I were to be ticketed. I stuffed my intestines with intestines at Luyixian. Feeling as if I was in another country, walking inside a tiny little eatery, English hardly being spoken, having a delectable meal made with love by the proprietors, I enjoyed the quaint lunch I had before heading home for the day. Luyixian serves authentic food, delightful to the senses. I wouldn't hesitate to visit again, next time my travels take me to Alhambra. Highly recommend!

OMG!!!! What an hidden gem!!!! This is what I call a hole in a wall place that deserve trying because the food was so delicious! The family that's working here are amazing people, and just a FYI, the red chili is a must get item. Just ask for it and they'll give them to you as they made them in-house. It gives the food another notch if that's even possible. Will come back for sure.

Got spicy beef noodles. Pretty good but also more spicy than mild. The shepherds dumpling. It was pork and veggies dumplings in seaweed soup. The dan dan noodles more soupy than saucy but the sauce sticks to the noodles pretty well. Would get it again.

It was our first time trying this place, having a late lunch here. First thing to note, the location was first hard to find but once we found it, it was plenty of parking underground. Walking in there was no waiting which is now. They walk us in their side room which had plenty of seats available. We order four dishes and they were quick to bring them. The waitress spoke English and was very nice. He was very attentive and polite as well. We got the braised beef noodle and rice dish, cucumber garlic, and kung pao chicken. So good!!

The couple who runs this restaurant moved from China 4 years ago and decided to open a restaurant filled with homefood that they used to eat in China. Its soo good and so authentic. Reminds me of home. Support them! Super friendly and kind people.

The five-star reviews are spot-on. It’s pretty darn hard to get a rating this high in the 626, but Luyixian is worthy. They had the best braised pork over rice we ever had, with a generous amount of meat, sauce, and pickled veggies. The beef noodle soup was tasty but the meat was a bit tough. We would love to come back for the braised pig feet and the pig mouth appetizer.

Came here last week for takeout. Got a rice dish and the salty duck (must try). Very decent price for the taste and portion. We came back again this week and tried other stuff. Honestly everything was above average! Salty duck was sold out so we got the smoke fish (yummmy). The place is tiny tho. Seats <15 people. also they’re short staff so the wait time can be a downfall

Luyixian took over the former Old Country Cafe location and they serve Sichuan style food. My party and I enjoy their braised beef with rice because it is so tender and flavorful. I also like their spicy beef noodle soup. Their spicy fish noodle soup is decent, I have better elsewhere. Spicy wontons dish is decent here too, there are other places with better spicy wontons.

Went there a lot of times because food always good, the portions are generous and attractive. The owners and servers are genuinely friendly. I regularly also order church and party caterings with them. Thank you very much! ♥️💙👍👍🙏🙏

This place is family owned and an absolute hole in wall. I used to live in SGV and I totally missed this place. Came by with a couple of friends and it was their first time. They all agreed that this place deserves an A+. Generous portions, excellent service and of course AMAZING food. We all left extremely happy and satisfied.

It’s a little hard to find the location. It was open on Christmas late at night. Ordered dan dan noodles and they were ok. The red oil dumplings were good.

BEST beef noodle soup around! Get the spicy beef noodle soup! The broth is the perfect blend of deep beef flavor and herbal medicinal qualities from the anise and cooking wine. Also get the garlic water spinach. The marinated quail eggs were tasty but a little chewy.

We came here to try the food after seeing the article. Restaurant was pretty busy even during non rush hours. They’re really good at presentation so the pictures and the food looks delicious. Sadly the quality itself isnt that great. We ordered spicy beef noodles and they brought out a non spicy one. The broth was soo salty. No richness or depth in it. We asked them about the spicy beef soup order and they gave us a little bit of spicy oil to add in that isnt spicy at all. The braised pork rice plate was rather mediocre and reminded me of the fast foods you can order at boba shops. For half the price. Not that it is expensive here. But we did get about 5 bites of the noodles because the bowl is massive but very shallow and it was mostly broth. All in all. Not worth the hype.

This spot offers solid, traditional Taiwanese/Shanghainese comfort food. The place maintains a high level of cleanliness, and the service is truly top-notch. The staff's food recommendations are spot-on and they are super friendly. Don't miss out on their signature dishes—the House Special Braised Beef Noodles and the Braised Pork Rice Plate. The Beef Noodle Soup boasts a flavorful broth with incredibly tender beef. Their version of the Braised Pork Rice Plate is what I'd call 'Deluxe' compared to other places—it's exceptionally tasty and definitely worth the $14.99 price tag as of Nov 2023. I'll undoubtedly return to explore more items on the menu and highly recommend this spot! Quick tip: You'll find this restaurant nestled within an office building at the corner of Garfield and Valley. There are many underground parking available, so even if the ground level parking is full, it's still relatively easy to find a spot.

This place was a pleasant surprise. It's very much comfort food. I ordered the rice and braised pork and rice and pork elbow. Both were delicious. I would totally recommend ordering with the chili. They put it on the side and you can put in as much as you like in each bite. Beef noodle soup was good. My kids enjoyed all the food too. Definitely will come back

These days there are not many places that open later, but this one happened to pop up when my friends and I were looking for a place to eat after 8 pm. As a fan of beef noodle soup, I was excited to try this place out. They have a wide variety of Chinese and Taiwanese dishes. I ended up ordering the beef noodle soup which was delicious. For the cost, they give you a good amount of beef noodle soup. My friend got the rice cakes & we shared some pigs ears. The service was fast and friendly. The restaurant itself is clean & bright. I can't wait to come back to try out more things on the menu.

I secretly have this under my delicious chinese food's collection which I'm honing till I've tried out many places. But I fear if I write too great a review for them, it would get packed. This hole in the wall place is very unassuming from the street and the parking, but when you get inside it's clean and has a secondary room to seat larger gatherings so I'm sure if you wanted a party of 10+ ppl you can reserve that space. But of course you're here for the delicious chinese comfort food which we ordered in spades 2 entrees and 2 apps. First heavenly bite of my tender marinade braised beef rice damn drooling thinking when I'll come back to have it again lol. They pour some of that braised sauce that soaks into the rice yummy! it pairs so well with the pickled veggies to create a nice balanced meal. Gf for braised pork rib noodles and they were as kids call it now a days "fire". So fall off the bone tender that she offered to share some with me instead of keeping it all for herself which was nice! I'm always a fan of the tofu skin dish which my gf introduced me to and although simple, this place has it quality. As for the wontons, I don't recall, but they weren't the special sweet fragrant ones I was searching for. Still decent quality wontons in chili oil. Shhh this will be out little secret spot, don't overhype it.

The food here is phenomenal. We had the braised pork rice, spicy beef noodle soup, red oil wontons, and the jellyfish appetizer. This was my first time trying jellyfish. I imagined it would be a bit gamey or rubbery, but it wasn't at all. There was almost a crunch to it and the flavor was good. It was pleasant enough to enjoy, but I probably wouldn't order it again because I would want to try other menu items. At least now I can say I've had it! My favorites were the spicy beef noodle soup and red oil wontons, which I most definitely will order again along with new items on my next visit. My friends liked the braised pork rice. The main dining area is small and a little cramped, but they have a second room with a little more space. The service was good.

the owners are very nice people. food is not bad but ultimately nothing you can't get from many other places at a cheaper price.
