What an amazing experience! I have been back for both dinner and brunch and it has exceeding my expectations each time. The service is always wonderful as is the food and the atmosphere. Highlights include the tater tots, corn bread eclair, green oak lettuces (must have!), radiators in red sauce and the goulash a la vodka. For brunch, the star of the show were the pancakes and the pimento cheese omelette . The wine list is great and the cocktails (and mock tails) always hit the spot. Agnes was one of my favorite spots during my month spent in LA — I will be dreaming about the home cooked food made with so much love. Thank you for a great experience!

I have been here twice. Once for brunch and once for dinner. Both experiences were superb. It’s fun to browse around in the little shop in the front of the restaurant while waiting for your table. For brunch we sat on the patio in the back which was such a cozy atmosphere. I went with some girlfriends and we shared everything we ordered which is the way to go. The cocktails were fabulous as well. For dinner we sat at the bar. Everyone was very attentive and everything put in front of us was just delicious. 10/10 recommend checking this place out.

I’ve been meaning to try Agnes for ages now and it did not disappoint. We went for lunch and split everything which was plenty. We had the fried cheese curds, butter lettuce salad (the dates were smoked 😋), the Italian sandwich and banana pudding. The sandwich wasn’t a massive sub, but a well crafted melange of flavors that my husband put in his top 5. I quite enjoyed the fried cheese curds with the dill and acid.

I came to Agnes for an Audiology training, and am so glad to have tried a variety of their offerings: -Mick & Mary G&T - refreshing, gin-forward but so well-balanced with the tarrongon, hops and lime. -Cheese board with plenty fixins - great start to the meal! -Pineapple Glazed Pork Meatballs - a bit sweet but very tender / delicious -Radiators in Red Sauce - so delicious and rich, with amazing sauce in every bite -Risotto stuffed pepper - nice Texan kick, delicious cheese here -Grilled half chicken - standard, ok -West Coast Halibut - the star of the show. Properly cooked, rich and buttery, so good! -S’mores Cocoa Taco - very rich, very sweet, good for a bite or two -Strawberry Trifle - incredible mix of flavors. Loved the sponge cake and how it interacted with the berries and pistachio pieces. Truly a delight. Our training was in a personal room with access to their back patio. They also have interesting beers, cheeses, wines, and spreads in their storefront! This is a Pasadena establishment, and I wish it continued success!

Went for lunch. However they had lots of break items and not enough lunch entrees available. The liver eclair was also only available at night. I think coming at night is a lot better than coming for lunch. Cheese platter, tater tots, lettuce gem salad were all okay. The best thing I had was the baguette I ordered on the side and the extra trumpet mushrooms I got on the salad.

I happened to be down the street for work for one night and am so glad this is the restaurant I chose. I'm so happy and pleasantly full! The space is absolutely beautiful. There are plenty of little nooks in which smaller parties can go, but there are also larger spaces where you can have more than just yourself. I dined alone in the zen garden tonight on a last minute reservation. Despite most of the menu being geared towards sharing with two or more people, my server, John, walked me through the sizes so I could choose the right amount of food. For those of you who follow me, you know I am a sucker for a good old-fashioned. On their cocktail menu, I spied an Old Towne Fashion and had to give it a try. Miso is not something I probably ever would have thought to put in a drink, but it and the other ingredients elevated this cocktail to absolute sipping perfection. To eat, I ordered the cornbread eclair, the tinned fish of the day, and the curried cauliflower. It was hard to restrain myself, because I really wanted to order nearly everything. I had read descriptions of the cornbread eclair, so I already knew that had to be one. And when John told me the tinned fish of the day was a pickled tuna pate, I was sold. And who doesn't love curried cauliflower? My cornbread eclair came first, and it was even better than those descriptions I had read. It looks like the most delicious dessert, but it is the perfect combination of savory ingredients in harmony. I have never had a luxardo Cherry in anything but an old fashioned, but they added the most perfect texture and flavor to each bite of that dish. The tinned fish of the day was so superb that I literally left the restaurant with a bag of tins to share (and some to save for myself). To be fair, eating the entire plate was probably a bit too much for some because it was a pickle extravaganza. Pickled tuna pate, pickled daikon, pickled onions, and pickled cauliflower. The country mustard was amazing, and I was very thankful that the crackers were plain, as they were the perfect vessel for the pickle extravaganza. The curried cauliflower came out, and when the aroma hit my nose, it was heaven. I tried to balance the bites of the feta and mint and savored everything to the last bit. I have not one single regret about my choices. All of that was probably a touch too much food for most single diners, but I cannot say I would have left anything on any plate. While I do recommend visiting with a friend, do not bypass this restaurant if you happen to be, like me, traveling alone for work. One of the servers, not mine, stopped and asked if I was dining alone and told me I was doing a good job of dating myself. Date yourself at Agnes. You will not regret it.

Agnes was featured on Localish. The segment introduced the owner whose passion is all things cheese. We ordered the mushroom frittata, crème brûlée cheese toast, half and half board, Agnes's version of the Bloody Mary and coffees. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted equally great! The rim on my cocktail was seasoned with their "chicken salt". This stuff is so good I asked for a little to go! Our server was so sweet, she accommodated my request. I recommend reservations. There was a line before opening.

Agnes Restaurant & Cheesery is a fantastic spot in Old Town Pasadena. The food is fresh and flavorful, the space warm and inviting and the service friendly and welcoming. We ordered several items from the menu and split everything. This initial dining experience included the Marinated Olives, Crispy Cheese Curds, Green Oak Lettuces, Loaded Baked Potato Dumplings and Spaghetti and Clams. We washed it all down with solid dirty martinis. The Marinated Olives were robust, rich, meaty and flavorful. They’re marinated with rosemary, chili, lemon and garlic. The Crispy Cheese Curds were a standout dish. I don’t have a lot a experience with cheese curds, but will now if they’re anything like these. They’re crispy with a perfect balance of heat and crunch. The thinly sliced celery and Fresno peppers add balance to the rich curds and blue cheese dressing. I absolutely loved this dish. The salad was very nice. The lettuces were fresh and tender, and the dressing was very robust and flavorful. I loved the mustard and shallots, offset by the dates. Great start to the meal. The Loaded Potato Dumplings were another highlight of the meal. It’s a burst of flavors - sharp cheddar, tangy sour cream, crunchy and salty bacon bits, the green of the broccoli all topped with tiny crunchy shoe string potatoes. When I ordered this dish, I imagined they would be like pierogis, but they are definitely more in the gnocchi category. So good. The Spaghetti with Clams ended up being our least favorite dish - not that it was bad - it just wasn’t as good as the other dishes. I loved the chewy texture of the hand-cut noodles. But overall the dish was more delicate and subdued than the others we ordered. The service was really very nice. I will definitely return to order the salad, cheese curds and dumplings., and to explore more of the menu. In the future, I hope they get blue cheese olives for their martinis. It’s a cheesery!
