New owner, this place WAS great, the food amazing the service top notch. Now it's cheap food and terrible service, even the menu features some Chinese dishes, which is not what I want to see in a Japanese restaurant. Do yourself a favor if you havent been here dont come. Remember it for its glory days.

When hanashima first changed ownership, the quality and the taste was lacking. It had definitely declined and food tasted differently, sometimes lacking flavor or it was too oily. Nevertheless, we decided to give this place another try with the new ownership. We were suprised that they really improved on the quality and taste of the food. Although it will never be the same taste as how the original owners had made it, the effort is definitely there and the taste is coming really close to the original. The new waitress are also very kind and attentive! I would recommend getting the California handrolls, katsu curry, teriyaki chicken or the chicken katsu rice or anything besides the ramens. The ramens were ALWAYS lacking in flavor, even before the new ownership, so DO skip that item on the menu. If you're looking for a homecooked styled Japanese restaurant, do give this place a try!

New owners now three months. Near Garfield Hospital. Food is good prices are great menu is the same as the original owners. Northeast corner of Garfield and Hellman . It's set back not easy to spot but the only other building in this Spot is the Circle K . Gave 4 stars because of the parking is small and full. People stay longer dining in talking. Of course this was a Friday and a Payday. Comfortable for 1 or group. No Reservations so just call them and ask if they're busy. You can go at lunch time and it was about a dollar cheaper. New problem for Circle K because lot is full for the restaurant. Parking is very tight to maneuver. I believe Circle K would have you towed away with a warning if you park Alexander storefront to go to the restaurant. Maybe more of an irritation on Saturday and Friday night? If you have a handicap placard you are safe. Do you have a continued Happy New Year everyone. Check out their menu.

The food is regularly well prepared and tasty, staff members hands over excellent customer service. I really like the cleanliness and character. Would recommend to others.

The place and service is great, Tempura is good, Sushi is good as well, and The ramen base is plain. It’s a good place to go. And if you just want Ramen, the Ramen bar is better and price is higher than here. If you want more than ramen, this restaurant is better, they have more options on the menu. By the way, it’s a great place for family!

Best Japanese in sgv. Smoked Salmon sushi roll, hand roll with crab, teriyaki chicken and tempura, hot tea, miso soup fresh to order. Consistent quality, been a customer for 34 years so far. Excellent service very reasonable prices.
