A lovely little French bistro nestled in a residential neighborhood in South Pasadena. Parking is extremely easy as there is plenty of street parking available without meters or permits in this part of town. It’s a small place, but done well in that the tables are not too close together and they provide indoor and outdoor dining. Our server Fabienne was very polite and attentive, she did a great job. I love bistros and go them often so I came in already knowing what I wanted to get, but as usual was swayed by the chef’s special for my entree. I started off with the French Onion Soup and it was very good and done in the classic style, perfect for a cold winter night. We also ordered the cheese balls (goat cheese and Gruyère wrapped in prosciutto) and those were exceptionally flavorful; they had sold me once I heard goat cheese. For my entree I was going to get the trout but when I heard the Short Ribs special I opted for that and it was rich and delicious. I wish it came with more sauce as I ran out half way through, but still it was cooked perfectly and very tasty. An all around great bistro and I would recommend to anyone. It’s nice to get out of LA on occasion to mix it up so coming north to this quiet neighborhood and great service was a pleasure.

The chef makes an incredible Duck Confit. My dirty martini(s) well made. A French/ Italian feeling to the menu. Lots of outside seating. A fun place easily accessible to the Gold Line. A great gem in South Pasadena.

Loved the location, outdoor seating, food and wine pairings. Had an amazing time with friends last evening! Will most definitely return and share the find with others.

I ordered the duck and asked if I could have asparagus instead of green beans as I am allergic to legumes. They said that they could do it, but gave me green beans. I told them that I could now no longer eat the duck that was sitting on top of the green beans and they ASSURED ME that they would remake the whole plate. They did not. Not only was the roof of my mouth itching and covered in hives by the time I left, the duck itself was an overcooked disaster. Next door to garbage. They served me next door to garbage food. No apologies. The whole staff, except our waitress seemed to know what was going on because after I was given the second plate, no one came to check on us, went to elaborate lengths to avoid our table. They could have easily told me no substitutions, I would have ordered something else. Instead they served food that no restaurant should be proud of serving and put my health at risk. And my boyfriend thought his meal was mediocre although he said the french fries were delicious. Mistakes happen but their response was to immediately do what was best for them, not their customer. Oh, and it was my birthday and I had to come home and take benadryl and go to bed instead of going to the place where my cake was waiting for me.

The service and ambiance of the restaurant were very nice, however, the entrees my wife and I had should have been sent back. My sparse lamb shank was served on a bed of mashed potatoes and tasteless. My wife's boeuf bourguignon was dry and tough and she chose not to eat the beef. The menu is rather expensive but the entrees did not warrant such prices. We went with friends who recommended the restaurant but we will never go back. On a positive note, the frisse with egg and lardons (bacon) salad was excellent.

We love this place! Everyone, just try the escargot, mussels, the broth from the mussels goes excellent with the delicious French bread. Order the tapenade too and have a glass of champagne! Delicious!

Filet mignon and Lamb shank were top notch! Bread with olive tapanade is a must if you like olives. The french onion soup was sweet, so I wasn't crazy about it. I assume the onions used were sweet onions. For dessert, we had the crepes and creme brule.. amazing! The crepe had a citrus flare and I'm all for it. The service was great and the staff were very nice! Great experience

Cozy local French restaurant. French owned/run. Service is good; very friendly and atmosphere is relaxed. Food is good, though I found a couple of our dishes a bit on the bland side. Portions are large however, prices are fine dining though food, atmosphere and service are on the money with a neighborhood spot - so felt a bit overpriced. Dinner for two (without drinks) was around $140 (not including tip)

Unpretentious and delicious. Chef Bruno & Cie serving up solid, French comfort food in as inviting a setting as anyone could want. Hearty short ribs and braised lamb shank, along with a more delicate, pan-seared trout, preceded by special butternut squash soup and creamy burrata salad, all delighted. Marvelous. Want to go back right now for the entrecôte frites, Bruno’s Burger, et al — alas, so much menu, so little belly! Merci, BdlG!

Been here many times. Food is always good and service is great. Love this place and would definitely recommend this place for a good pasta. Clams and mussels are always fresh. Salmon is prepared perfectly. Love the fries as well.

Great place and authentic French experience! You just have to be little patient, because I noticed that French restaurants are operating little differently than most other restaurants. The culture is different, but so worthy of your time. Food was very delicious and places is very cozy. Make your reservations for Valentines Day, you won’t regret! Thank you to the Chef for the delicious food! And we had great time!

This is a very cute neighborhood restaurant serving a blend of French and other European dishes. The pate appetizer croutons were teeth-breaking hard. We had to order a side of bread instead. So that was a miss. Mains and desserts are good. Nice selection of wines. Be prepared to pay what you would in Paris with portions to match. It was just enough for us so I can't complain. But we easily spent $300 for two people.

We had a wonderful dinner here last week to celebrate our anniversary. We sat outside and there was a nice vibe with the South Pasadena Farmer's market going on at the same time. Note, it happens every Thursday from 4 to 7 and parking can be hard to find. We started off with the chicken liver mousse and tempura prawns which were great. My wife had the brazino which was a special for the night and the skin was perfectly crispy. I had another special on the menu that night which was the beef cheeks. Very tender, almost like brisket in texture. Finished off with the apple tart. All delicious and had wonderful service. We'll definitely will be back.

Recommend for the food, service and setting. Made a reservation, on a Thursday same day as the farmers market. Parking was a little challenging due to the farmers market and had the bonus farmers market. We were seated promptly and the specials were reviewed. Staff are seasoned professionals, did not ever feel hurried to order a next course. Wine pairing options are available by the glass and again the staff is ready to help. Tried the steak and another special. Everything came out to order, well seasoned and good. The setting is inviting. Recommend for a nice dining experience and good food.

My wife and I came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We have lived in the area for years but this is the first time we ate here. Everything was great, from the food to the menu to the parking. We can't wait to go back.

I love that there's such a good French food so close to home. The food is delicious, really enjoyed the escargot and my confit. Service is wonderful, staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

An amazing atmosphere and relaxing environment for this location. My wife and I came to this restaurant to enjoy a lovely night together. The hostess was kind and very pleasant to speak with. We were then seated and she also took our order since our waitress was busy at that moment; which is fine. I used to work as a waiter so I understand when it's busy, it's busy. We ordered an appetizer, entree and desert because we plan ahead of time, so we can have more time to talk than looking at the menu. The French onion soup was an amazing starter, the smoked salmon salad was pleasantly refreshing. I forget the name of the other entree but it was pretty good too, desert was alright. However, didn't see the waitress much during our meal and took awhile to get our desert and tasted a bit bland. So reason why I dropped the rating on service a bit. However, still a wonderful place to enjoy a meal with a loved one. Will probably try a different desert to compare with the one we purchased on this visit.

Nice gem in the center of south pasadena. Amazing traditional french cousine. My favorite is a duck leg. A little bit pricey but worth it

Three of us had an enjoyable evening with very good service. This restaurant could be a real winner but the food is not as extraordinary as it could be. Seems as if chef owner is not looking close enough at the competition. Steaks were sold as very top end dry aged but were not as flavorful and tender as they should have been. Fries were perfect. Drinks were great.

This is the place to get delicious French food in a non fussy setting. The hostess suggested we sit outside since there is no air conditioning in the main dining room. Our server was informed and attentive. The escargot was nicely flavored with garlic and herbs; the snails were almost as delicious as the one’s we had in Provence. I did not care for the pate but my family loved the combination of veal, pork, duck and hazelnut. The fillet mignon with peppercorn reduction was amazing. The confit de canard was crispy outside and moist inside. The seafood pasta special blew me away; the light tomato sauce blended well with the seafood’s juices. There was no room for dessert today. The dinner was perfect!

Great place and very good food. Service is outstanding...and you know how I can be when service doesn’t match the food. This time was perfect... try appetizers from a-z they are all that good. I had the Lamb shanks for my main and it was amazing it comes with very tasty mashed potatoes... yummy! I let you enjoy the big selection of wine... I had the Malbec which paired very well with my appetizers. Enjoy your visit.

Charming French bistro near the train station, like their name bistro de la gare, menu is a mixture of French and Italian dishes, appetizer chicken mousse is delicious, main course were a little but underwhelmed, presentation is lacking for dish over $30. Spotty service even the restaurant is not too busy on Friday night. Overall it was a 4 star dinning experience.
