Great atmosphere and we were made very welcome by the resident dogs. The house itself is magnificent, Sir Herbert Baker was involved in the design. It's got plenty of history behind it, and I can so imagine the good times that it must have experienced. While the rooms and lounge areas are really comfortable and classy, it is obvious that quite a lot of money needs to be spent on upgrading facilities. But with the tourism slump being what it is, I can totally understand the limitations. But it's a wonderful stopover, I can well recommend it to those who don't demand the latest in fittings and furnishings.

Highly recommended if you’re needing a stopover near Aliwal North. Beautiful old building designed by Sir Herbert Baker and still owned and run by the Gerrand family. Warm and welcoming.

The Conville B&B is a beautiful old house. Easy to find and near Aliwal-North town. The best way to evaluate a Guesthouse is to compare overnight cost (for B&B) with the stay and travel experience of other Guesthouses. Conville B&B needs upgrading and finesse.

One of the best guesthouses Ive ever stayed in, and I travel a lot. Cannot recommend it enough.

A lovely old home beautifully furnished in early 1900 style. Linda is a great host and has a wealth of local knowledge. The rooms are huge and comfortable. We enjoyed a good nights sleep before enjoying a standard B&B breakfast of cereals, yoghurt, hot English breakfast etc. Our grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed the garden and romping with the five friendly dogs. Will stay again when next in the area.

This is the best B&B we have ever stayed in;. from the moment Linda met us on the front steps we felt welcome. Our accommodation was outstanding - the furniture held so many memories of our own childhood homes, all lovingly looked after. Our bedroom was cosy and we again were swept back to the past with our brass bed, copper-finished fireplace and very high ceilings. We slept like logs and once dressed were treated to an amazing country breakfast. We felt so at home and Linda + Antony can feel very proud of their warm hospitality. We wish we lived closer so that we could call in often! Paul & Noreen Scott

Fabulous lofty 1908 farmhouse/castle. I was greeted with a warm handshake and seen off with a cheery wave. The room is spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast hit the spot. 1km smooth gravel road from town, easily managed on a road bike. Definitely worth the visit.

We stayed here a few years back and I have been telling everyone I know to come by here should they pass through Aliwal. This is truly a remarkable place, you can feel the history of the house as if you were living it. It is absolutely magical.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Pleasantly surprised at how neat, clean and cozy the rooms were. Not much space in the rooms if you have a lot of luggage, but ample cupboard space. Spacious shower and toilet set-up with round bar-soap, lotion sachets, and sufficient towels supplied. Coffee station with microwave, Kettle, and mid-si...

πŸ‘ I actually forgot to take pictures, but I had a good experience. The host was very helpful. She understood how tired I am and catered to my needs. She also called me earlier in the day to explain their dinner process so that I don't run into any inconvenience, I found that to be amazing. She even he...
