    (Translated by Google) This is a good place to visit near the Sangam, but tourists and others have to take care not to be fooled by the priests residing inside the temple, the statues of God and Goddesses in the Patalpuri temple are as old as the fort, But the Akshayavat (banyan tree) is not the original one which is located there, the original Akshayavat is inside the fort and is protected by the government.

    (Translated by Google) This is a very famous temple, here is the famous Akshaya Butt of ancient times, which was discussed during the Kumbh Mela, although the four butt tree is very famous in India which is in Puri, Vrindavan, Sagas. Like, Share, YouTube (Original)

Amongst numerous Hindu pilgrimage sites in Prayagraj, Patalpuri Temple is considered to be the holiest shrine in the city. Located within the complex of Prayagraj Fort, earlier Allahabad Fort, Patalpuri is an underground temple which has great religious significance. As per the folklore, the temple was visited by Lord Rama. It is also believed that this popular shrine in Prayagraj was also visited by Hiuen Tsang - a Chinese traveller and writer. The temple complex includes one of the oldest trees of the country - Akshaya Vat. It is a sacred fig tree that has its mention in Hindu mythology. The legend has it, there was a time when Lord Narayana, for a moment, flooded the entire universe when he was questioned about his divine power by a sage called Markandeya. During this entire scene, the tree of Akshaya Vat was the only thing on the earth that was seen above water level. However, an amazing thing to know about this tree is that its roots have created one of the shrines in the temple. Today, not just the temple but pilgrims also worship this age-old tree with utmost devotion and ardour. Location Address Prayagraj Fort, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh 211005, India. Opening / Closing Timings Since the temple of Patalpuri is located within the complex of Prayagraj Fort, hence, the timings of the shrines are also the same as the fort. The must-visit temple in Prayagraj stays open all the days of the week and can be visited between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

What a magnificent place , full of divine vibes . The tree has its legends dating back to Ramayan and also has been given the boon of being immortal. Visited the place and the temple is underground which is made around its roots. The place is next to Triveni Sangam inside the fort. Beware of the people asking for money, you can contribute as per your desire and status.

Good place worth visiting. But pandits are cheats. They try to extract more and more money. This is despite the temple being under high security surveillance.

Akshay Vat is the very ancient hindu temple situated near the triveni,Sangam of prayagraj. Lots of cave type structures have been built in this temple called as "Patalpuri Temple" in which so many statues of God-goddess are established. Thousands of people visit here daily. Entire temple is under the protection of indian army. It's a small part of allahabaad fort. Very peaceful place with great historical facts. I've visited here many times as living in prayagraj. If you're coming here, must do visit here surely. Thank you.

There are many statues of hindu gods and goddesses. And the pandits ask for money at every spot. They say to give on your own free will but c'mon we know it's not. On the contrary the temple needs some maintenance. Invest some money in keeping this heritage.

It's a historical temple situated at the river banks of sacred triveni sangam ( Ganga & Yamuna) in Prayagraj in a beautifully built fort by Samrat ashok later undertaken by Akbar. The temple is famous for its "Akshay Vat" - A banyan tree. which is considered to be 1000+ years old with its huge branches spread all along the fort area and each of its branches and parts are dedicated to different Hindu dieties. This temple was closed from many years and was opened again for public when Yogi adityanath formed is govt. in UP and became C.M One star less to this place as there was no strictness in the premises regarding Corona. Hardly few people wearing masks and poor sanitisation facility. Which I had observed in my latest visit in 1st week of Jan/21

The temple is situated near fort. Temple is under ground as it's name suggests... everything was beautiful but the priests were very greedy and rude with visitors. Maintenance could be better and apart from all these things...It is calming, soothing and peaceful. Must go if you are visiting Sangam.

Patalpuri temple is an underground temple with lot of Indian God idols and predominantly Lord Saraswati. It is said that river saraswati is flowing below the temple which ultimately flow below fort and merges into Jamuna river. This merged rivers than final merges with river Ganga and hence it is called Triveni Sangam. Priest are smart enough asking you to donate but that fair enough as end of the day they need to maintain temple and their family livelihood. This temple can be seen after sunset but Triveni sangam can be best viewed during day time only

This is also known as Akshayvat Temple, located in Prayagraj- UP, near Samgam ghats. This has one of the oldest Banyan tree which is famous for salvation, as per Hindu mythology. Temple is clean has bit narrow passings inside it. There are more than 20-30idols in the temple, down stairs. Pujaris might ask for donations in front of each idols, keep the changes with you.

Good place to visit. There is a tree 🌲 which is known as Akshay Vatt. This tree was used as Akshay Vatt for many years till 2019 when original Akshay Vatt was opened for devotees. There are many idols of god and goddess in underground. This temple is located on bank of river Yamuna. This temple comes under Akbar fort.

Good place for devotees tour, but not so good for place of worship. The only tendency of the Brahmins there is to get hold of persons coming to it and grab money out of nothing. There is a huge Banyan tree which is said to be never dies. The attraction lies round it.

Place is good but what the hell is wrong with the priests they’ll always hog you for money at every single idol, if you deny in any way they’ll call you “jungli” , “naastik” and people touch feet of these guys. Not to offend any religious sentiments but these guys do not belong to this place.Remember God does not need anything from you if you donate, give it to charity or to any poor guy you find there.

I don't know what to say about this place. Being Hindu, i wanted to visit this old place which is mentioned in our puraans too, but, pandits here only wants money. Around 100 moorti kept here of different Bhagwan and at every moorthi, pandit asks for donation. This place is very old, akshayvat is located here, but there's no aastha left, after looking at monetary demands by pandits. No wonder our culture is contaminated by these people. Don't go here. They don't allow mobile phones inside so that they openly ask for money and no one record them

Thank you.
