Good way to get an insight into how the Nehru family used to spend their days. The site is well-maintained. You get to walk through the rooms of the house at first. Then, there are photo galleries, Indira Gandhi's photos, and a planetarium.

We visited this place on Sunday. There was lot of rush of school students. But the place itself is huge to accommodate that many people. It is a must visit place for a sensible person. This place holds memories of the great people that this country had witnessed and their lifestyle at that time. All the artifacts are well preserved. The lifestyle that they witnessed at that time is unbelievable considering even today's technology. The ticket price for first floor and ground floor is 100/-, and only for ground floor is 30/-. They also have planetarium. Here they show a film of 40min, not with real telescope.

Formerly known as Swaraj Bhavan, Anand Bhavan happened to be the ancestral mansion of the Nehru family. One of the most important and oldest families in Indian politics, the Nehrus had lived here since 1930 when it was built under the personal care of the family patriarch Motilal Nehru. His son Jawaharlal Nehru went on to become the first Prime Minister of independent India in 1947. Jawaharlal Nehru himself lived in this sprawling mansion. His daughter Indira Gandhi, who also become India’s Prime Minister in later years, spent her early years here. So it goes without saying that this house holds a special place in modern Indian political milieu. Anand Bhavan is wonderfully decorated with the wooden furniture importedfrom China and Europe and was decorated with various artefacts from all around the world. In 1970, Indira Gandhi donated this mansion to the Government of India and now is turned into a museum that depicts the life and times of the Nehru family down the years. The exhibits inside the museum highlight the events, which describes the participation of the prestigious family in India’s struggle for independence. Apart from these, the museum has a room entirely dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, often referred to as the Father of the nation. The influential figure of India’s freedom movement used to stay in this very room whenever he visited Allahabad.

After visiting this place, you ll come to know about the life history of indira gandhi and how luxurious life they had. You can find swaraj bhavan the birth place of indira gandhi and also the place were Feroze Gandhi and Indira Gandhi were married. The place is good and maintained well. If some one visits prayagraj, it's good to have some time visiting this place. There is also a planetarium where you have 3D view enjoyment. It's worth visiting this place with minimal entry fees.

Seeped in history, this place is a must visit for every Indian citizen. The rooms where the Congress WCC committee met worked give goosebumps. The furnitures used by the family would viewed with awe. Also the Indira Gandhi memorial exhibition in the adjacent property would be an added attraction.

Truly majestic place. Kudos to government for preserving the things that you will literally time travel to the past. Gandhiji spent some time here for meetings. The wedding of Indira Gandhi took place here. Kamla Nehru (Wife of Moti Lal Nehru died here) due to organ failure. If you're a history enthusiast and want to dive into the lives of Nehrus, this is the place. No less than a palace, you will find out how rich they were back then by looking at the lifestyle things they used.

A well maintained museum which offers an intimate glimpse of Motilal Nehru’s lifestyle. One peeps through glass walls to look at the bedroom the living room and dining room. We did not have time for the upper floors so no idea what one gets to see there. But it does give out a strong sense of history and the awe one feels is strong. The lawns are well maintained and fortunately out of bounds. The guard at main door is hand in glove with man selling masks which no one wears or enforced to wear once past the gate. Tickets are for three levels of viewing. From the outside only ground fl. both floors. And full viewing.

It was constructed by Motilal Nehru in the 1930s to serve as the residence of the Nehru family when the original mansion Swaraj Bhawan was transformed into the local headquarters of the Indian National Congress.

One of the most known attractions of Prayagraj. This is the family home of the Nehru family converted into a museum which displays the various belongings and artifacts of the Nehrus, Mahatma Gandhi and Indian National Congress. This makes you dive deep into the lives of the former state heads of our country. They also have a planetarium which has around 10 shows throughout the day. The property is very well maintained and the ticket price is 100 rupees per adult The planetarium ticket costs 70 rupees which is charges separately. They have clean and well maintained washrooms as well. I’d highly recommend visiting this place. You can easily pass a couple of hours here.

Nehru's house is now a Museum. One can see his study, bed room, his father's study & bedroom. Also one can see the room in which many congress leaders met prior to independence and took important decisions. The building is located in a large garden area. When you think of Nehru, the rose flower comes to our mind. There is hardly any rose plants/flowers.

This historical and marvelous monument is a kind of museum which shows the luxurious lifestyle of people of mid 1900 and luxury amenities they used to have. This place has a planetarium , Jawahar Planetarium, , which has been striving to inculcate scientific temper among masses through its sky shows on astronomy and science. It has swaraj bhawan which has 42 rooms and a number of memorabilia including a charkha used by Mahatma Gandhi, photographs of the Indian freedom movement, personal belongings of the Nehru family and an underground room that is said to have been used occasionally for meetings.

Nice place to visit in Prayagraj as there are only few places to see in this city. If you are Nehruvian, then you will love it and if not, then you can see it from history perspective. The most beautiful thing at this place is the planetarium as it makes you aware of your galaxy and few fundamentals of geography. It has a capacity of approximately 100 people and it offers great experience at an affordable price of ₹70 only which is a good amount to spend here. It makes you feel like you are in a theatre. Although brightness and picture quality is something poor but it's good. You must visit once...😀

Anand Bhavan Museum in Prayagraj, also known as Allahabad, is a historically significant museum that offers a glimpse into the life and times of India's prominent political figures, especially the Nehru-Gandhi family. Here's a small review of the Anand Bhavan Museum: The museum is located in the ancestral home of the Nehru family and was converted into a museum in 1970. As you enter Anand Bhavan, you are immediately transported back in time to the era when the Indian independence movement was gaining momentum. The museum does an excellent job of preserving the artifacts, memorabilia, and personal belongings of the Nehru-Gandhi family. The museum is divided into various sections, each dedicated to different aspects of the family's life. You can explore rooms that were once occupied by prominent leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and their family members. The rooms are furnished with period furniture, photographs, and other personal items, giving you a sense of the lifestyle and ambiance of the time. The museum also houses a library with a vast collection of books, manuscripts, and documents related to the Nehru-Gandhi family and the independence movement. It provides an excellent opportunity for researchers and history enthusiasts to delve deeper into the rich legacy of the family. One of the highlights of the Anand Bhavan Museum is the "Swaraj Bhavan" section, which showcases the political activities and campaigns conducted by the family during the freedom struggle. The exhibits include photographs, letters, and documents that provide insights into the struggles and sacrifices made by the leaders for India's independence. The museum staff is knowledgeable and helpful, providing visitors with relevant information and anecdotes about the exhibits. The entire experience is both educational and enlightening, allowing visitors to connect with the Nehru-Gandhi family's legacy and gain a better understanding of the history of the independence movement. It is important to note that Anand Bhavan Museum is not just a museum but also a living monument to India's political history. The museum's architecture and its lush surroundings further enhance the overall experience. In conclusion, a visit to Anand Bhavan Museum in Prayagraj offers a fascinating journey into the lives of the Nehru-Gandhi family and their contributions to the Indian independence movement. Whether you are a history enthusiast, a researcher, or simply curious about India's past, this museum provides a rich and informative experience.

The place is big and. properly. The tieket is priced at Re 20 for ground flor and Ro70 for the whole building. | would recemmend taking the Rs 70 ticket for one to enjoy this place. There is also a planetarium where specifie show is shown at specifie time. Behind all these ndira Gandhi's hame is situnated.

Nice place but too boring if u just look at ground floor which costs you rs. 20 pet head. But i suggest go for the first floor that costs a total of 70 rs. And also enjoy the planetarium show which costs you another 60rs. It's an ok ish place.

For the ground floor , 20 Rs for Indians And for the both floor you have to pay 70Rs for each person (Indians) 200Rs for foreigners. PHOTOGRAPHY is prohibited in museum. This museum is belonged to Nehru-Gandhi's Family.

Just Nehru's luxurious life is being kept and nothing else. Indira Gandhi house in Delhi is a worth place than this one is my suggestion because, just his study room, bed room and his house outer costs you Rs. 30(Ground floor) and Rs. 100(separately for Second floor) and Rs. 70(separately for Planitorium) This man who is born with silver spoon is earning for India even after his death by the way of displaying belongings.

A well maintained monumental place conserve by ASI. It shows the decorum of former indian prime ministers residence to the nation as well as to the world. All the material used by them also preserved with its best. Neharu memorial Taramandal is also a life time witnessing place. Photographs collection of Nehru Gandhi family is awesome. But I think every prime minister deserves this kind of stuff for his belongings. We can inherent so many values from them. Visiting time for this place is upto 5 o'clock evening daily. I think it should be increased upto 7 o'clock because so many visitors can visit this after attending ganga Aarti.

It was quite enriching experience and came to know several historical facts about the Nehru Family. Elegance, yet simplicity, with which the family used to stay here touched me. Visiting first floor costs extra bucks but it is advisable to go for it. In each room, lies hidden treasure from the Modern History. Also had a nap in beautiful garden under a huge tree. Show in the planetarium was icing on the cake. Overall wonderful experience!!!

The Allahabad Museum is a national-level museum in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Established in 1931, it is known for its rich collection and unique objects of art, and is funded by Ministry of Culture. Moreover, it is a premier research centre for archaeologists, historians and academicians and carries out extensive research activities and publications in archaeology, art and literature. Its rock art gallery has the largest collection of prehistoric paintings displayed in India dating from 14,000 B.C to 2000 B.C. The museum, using solar power system, has become the first museum in the country to become self-reliant in power generation. The Allahabad Museum is centrally located in the Civil Lines area of the city in a lush green garden at Chandrashekhar Azad Park, popularly known as Company Bagh. It is about 3 kms away from the Allahabad railway junction and almost equidistant from three different Railway Stations such as Prayag, Rambagh and Allahabad junction and about 12 km away from Bamrauli Airport.

Its the pride of Prayagraj. Simply stupendous. Words fall short to describe its glory. Its quite peaceful and is not crowded so you can have a great time if you enjoy such places.

  • 5/5 SHEETAL S. 3 years ago on Google
Walk through the serene Azad park to reach Prayagraj Museum.. although the honking of the traffic close by doesn't let you get away from 'in the city' feeling, it still is good. The museum charges 50 bucks which probably seems a bit much for just another small little museum in a park. But when you actually get there, you are in for a treat! There are many museums within the museum! Start with architectural excavations and admire the art that lived in 1st century AD! Come out and don't miss Shaheed Chandrasekhar Azad's pistol on the display. Then climb up for a painting exhibition, porcelain exhibition, weapon's display, nehru exhibition, stuffed animals and birds, letters and poems by famous poets and so much more! A must visit. It'll take you atleast 3 hours to check out everything in this museum so have that time on hand. Also, do not plan your trip on weekends - being in a park, it's jam packed and it's not good for anyone to add to the rush. Enjoy the museum.

The Planetarium is also located in the large and vast premises. Overall wonderful experience.

Lot of history inside. Went to jail for 9 times. Longest was 900+ days when he wrote “ Discovery of India “. He used to use trimmer in those days. Wrote many books. CWC session used to happen. Congress donated this to museum. It was constructed 1927 but after that maximum time he was in jail. Telephone is still kept there with no. 507.

This is the most beautiful place [ANAD BHAWAN] that you can enjoy alot of fun.....there is the all about Nehru's family.....and mostly about Pt.J.L.Nehru and Indira Gandhi ......please visit this site .....for enjoying alot with your family.......There is the Historical place and have historical thing's. A well maintained museum which offers an intimate glimpse of Motilal Nehru's lifestyle.
