The Triveni Sangam at Prayagraj is the confluence or the junction where the three rivers namely, the Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers meet. The word Sangama comes from the Sanskrit word meaning confluence. The confluence point is considered an extremely sacred place and a bath taken here is said to eliminate all the sins of a person. The three rivers can be identified separately by their different colours. Pilgrims travel from across the country to visit this holy place and the site has also been the place of immersion of ashes of many noteworthy national leaders like Mahatma Gandhi. This religious place also hosts the significant Kumbh Mela every 12 years. The place itself is an immensely peaceful and beautiful place. The Mela attracts tourists from all over the world and the devotees get to witness a procession of grandeur and celebration. Those who are fascinated by the culture and tradition of India pay a visit to the place during this time. Moreover, it is believed that a dip in these sacred waters can release an individual from the continuous cycle of birth and rebirths.

Triveni” means “three rivers” while “Sangam” means “confluence” in English. Triveni Sangam is the confluence of three rivers. The Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj (formerly known as Allahabad) is the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers. It is a holy bathing place for Hindus. Bathing in the Triveni Sangam is believed to wash away all the sins of mankind. Every 12 years this place conducts "Kumbha Mela" on the banks of Triveni Sangam & every 6 years "Ard Kumbh". Kumbh is a festival celebrating the faith of drops of nectar that fell here while being carried away by the god after the churning of the sea. “Playwright Kalidasa describes the confluence of the blue waters of the Ganges and the Yamuna as if they were intertwined like a string of pearls and sapphires or a garland of white and blue lotuses. Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj is the confluence of three rivers namely Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. Of these three rivers, the Saraswati is invisible and flows underground and joins the other two rivers from below. The muddy, pale-yellow and mica-laden and stagnant waters of the Ganges merge with the mighty, blue waters of the Yamuna.. The Ganges is only 4 feet deep, and the Yamuna is 40 feet deep during the annual flood here, where the confluence can be seen. Sangam or Sangam is a tirthasthan or shrine. Bathing here not only washes away sins but also frees you from the cycle of birth and death. A shrine is a ford; The tirthasthanam allows believers to cross the river of consciousness from the earthly realm to divinity and immortality. It is known as Sangama Raju or Prayagraj.

Visited early morning. Scene was very beautiful as it was sunrise time. Hire a boat to go to exact sangam. Scenic beauty is to be found in the vast expanse of the water body. The migratory Siberian birds add to the picture.

Triveni Ghat, also known as Triveni Sangam, is a significant and revered site located in Prayagraj, India. It holds immense religious importance as it marks the confluence of the Ganges (Ganga) and the Yamuna rivers, with the mythical Saraswati River believed to flow invisibly at this sacred junction. This confluence is often referred to as Prayag, given its proximity to the area of Prayagraj. One of the remarkable features of Triveni Sangam is the distinct colors of the Ganges and the Yamuna. The clear waters of the Ganges juxtaposed with the greenish hues of the Yamuna create a visually captivating sight. This natural phenomenon adds to the enchantment and mystique surrounding this holy place. The Rigveda, one of the oldest texts in Hinduism, recognizes the auspiciousness of this confluence, stating that those who bathe at the junction of the two rivers shall rise up to heaven. This ancient belief further deepens the spiritual significance of Triveni Ghat. Apart from its religious value, Triveni Ghat has played a vital role in historical events as well. It has served as a venue for the renowned Kumbh Mela, a grand Hindu pilgrimage that takes place every 12 years, attracting millions of devotees from around the world. Additionally, Triveni Ghat has witnessed the immersion of the ashes of notable national leaders, including Mahatma Gandhi in 1949, adding a historical and patriotic dimension to its importance. Visiting Triveni Ghat offers a profound spiritual experience and an opportunity to witness the confluence of two majestic rivers. The tranquil atmosphere, combined with the religious fervour and historical significance, makes Triveni Ghat a must-visit destination for anyone seeking spiritual solace and a deeper connection with India's rich cultural heritage.

Loved the place , but hated the peoples around this place. Pros: The place is very well maintained and clean. And the importance of this place is very high in Hindi tradition. In Hindu tradition, Triveni Sangam is the confluence of three rivers that is also a sacred place, with a bath here said to flush away all of one's sins and free one from the cycle of rebirth. Cons: All will try to extract money from you. It includes Boat sailor, coconut sellers, parking spotters, Boat police, etc

One of the holiest places for santanis , located in prayagraj. The famous kumbh mela also occurs here. Moreover the river saraswati is invisible here . Been there on boat and they charged 100 to and fro. They have a setting with the priest for Pooja, but its your option to accept it or not. You may enjoy the beauty and feel the spirituality in the air . Prayagraj is also famous as Bharath ji offered prayers here.

Triveni sangam is the confluence of three sacred rivers - the Ganga, the Yamuna and Saraswati river . It's located near prayagraj city. Many people came here to take bath or worship. It's a very sacred place for Hindu. You also can done a boat ride which is little bit expensive. There are many beggars. Which makes this place little bit crowded. Although recommended to visit. Many Siberian birds you can see here.

Triveni Sangam is the confluence of the Ganges (Ganga), Yamuna, and the mythical Sarasvati River. Triveni Sangam is located at Prayag – the area of Prayagraj neighbouring the confluence; for this reason, the confluence is also sometimes referred to as Prayag. The Ganges and Yamuna there can be identified by their different colours – the water of the Ganges is clear while that of Yamuna is greenish in colour. The third river, mythical Saraswati, is called invisible. A place of religious importance and the site for historic Kumbh Mela held every 12 years, over the years it has also been the site of immersion of ashes of several national leaders, including Mahatma Gandhi in 1949.

Confluence of ganga yamuna and Saraswati. You can take bath , perform pujas in the banks and simply enjoy a boat ride in the Ganges . Only place you can see Saraswati river . Must visit place . You can take autos or private car once you reach Allahabad station. Worth visiting this place mainly during magh festival. For boat rides they ask for hefty amount from tourist and always bargain even 200 for 4 person (updating as in Nov 23) is enough to visit the sangam points. Boat rides after 5:30 -6pm is not allowed . Not sure about the rules though . Try to visit before evening . Easy available shared autos are available . Always recommend to bargain .

It is an awe-inspiring site where three sacred rivers, the Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati, merge together. Having recently visited this remarkable place, I am compelled to share my extraordinary experience and recommend it to all. It takes 1 & 1/2 hour to reach this place through kashi. Boat rides are also available. But we have to sit with legs folded as the boats here do not have foot rest compartments. Might be a bit difficult for people with orthopedic problems. The boat ride costs 1400. There are no changing rooms.

As always, important for Hindus to go here for a holy dip. Park your taxi behind the Hanuman temple on the sand, walk down and take a boat. A private boatman will cost about INR 2000. The boatman himself gets paid INR 150. So please tip generously. He will take you to the main sangam. He has to wait to find a spot. Then he with park there. Get out of the boat on to the main big boat in the main sangam and you can take a dip there. You can do your sangam pika by hiring a priest there for a small fee. While it is easy for men to change into dry clothes, not so easy for women. So take a Boat that has curtains. Regardless in the searing heat of Prayagraj all clothes will get dried up by the time you reach the back to the shores. PS : I tried my hands on the boat too, but failed miserably🤣

Triveni Sangam where the Rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswati meet but do not mix is one the most sacred and magical places at Prayagraj. This is the place whers Khumbh Mela is organized and considered as one the of the Holy places. Geographically it is wonder how the the difference in the colour of the Rivers is also noticed!

Sangam is amazing place for Hindu religion . Ganga and yamuna are mixed this place and you cliarly identify the water defence. We are enjoying the boating and chai. So crowded places this.

Triveni Sangam is confluence of three sacred rivers of Sanatana Dharma named as Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati river (invisible) in Prayagraj (formally know as Allahabad). One can reach here via flight and train (Prayagraj railway station). It is believed that if anyone bath here said to flush away all of one's sins and free them from the cycle of rebirth. At the confluence point the two different colours of water is clearly visible. Prayag Sangam is as place of religious importance and the site for historic Kumbh Mela held every 12 years. In Hinduism, over the years it has also been the site of immersion of ashes. This place is good for yoga, meditation as well as for spritual practices such as Yajnas. One demerit is the pollution of the holy river Ganga.
