Darbhanga Ghat is located south of Dasashwamedh Ghat next to Rana Mahal Ghat. This imposing palace with its towers and turrets was built in the early 1900s by the royal family of Bihar. One of the highlights of this palace is the very early lift that was operated by hand, now said to be out of operation. The Ghat has a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. There is also a building nearby that is used for performing religious rituals.

History & Facts: Built in the year 1812, Munshi Ghat is named after Sridhara Narayana Munshi, who was a finance minister in the estate of Nagpur. In 1915, the Brahmin king Kameshwar Singh Gautam Bahadur of Darbhanga (Bihar) purchased the ghat and extended it. The extension later became known as Darbhanga Ghat.

Darbhanga Ghat has beautiful architecture and is more peaceful than the more popular Ghats. The best time to visit is from October to March in my opinion. During this time heavy winter clothes are recommended.

In the Times when there's a huge crowd on the main Ghats, darbhanga ghat is much more calm and serene.

Brahmin king Kameshwar Singh Gautam Bahadur of Darbhanga (Bihar) purchased the Munshi ghat and extended it. The extension later became known as Darbhanga Ghat. The ghat has a grand Shiva and Kukuteshwara Temple. Darbhanga Ghat is bordered by BrijRama Palace hotel. The place is not well kept. Water steps are coated with algae and are slippery. Boat rides are available from here, but it can be a hassle to bargain with them.

Darbhanga Ghat offers the best opportunity to get amazing shots of Varanasi. The stairs leading down to the riverbank are crowned by the ultra-luxurious BrijRama Palace, an old fort that has since been converted into a heritage hotel. The property's Greek pillars and rounded balconies give the area (and your photographs) a regal backdrop. Plan to get here around dawn to capture unobstructed views of the incredible sunrise over the horizon of the Ganges River.

The perfect way to see all the ghats in Varanasi is - boat Tour. Agents will come to you when you will be nearby ghats and negotiate with you, make sure that before riding. but again, to see 130 ghats and their beauty, you must have this in Varanasi. Darbhanga Ghat is a photogenic favorite due to the luxury BrijRama Palace hotel, the hotel was originally a fort built by Shridhara Narayana Munshi (adjacent Munshi Ghat is named after him), who was the minister for the estate of Nagpur. In 1915, King Rameshwar Singh Bahadur of Darbhanga (Bihar) acquired the palace and that's how ghat named after him. Apart from the ghat, the family also built a magnificent palace in the 1900s near the bank of the river from where they could watch the rituals and other activities. Post-1915, the second floor of the palace was constructed and an elevator — one of the first in Asia — was installed. This ghat also has a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

This ghat is dominated by Darbhanga Palace, an imposing structure built by the king of Darbhanga (Bihar) in 1915 along with a nearby Shiva temple. At the top is a shrine of Kukutesvara.

Built by Darbhanga Maharaj Kameshwar Singh. Now, his bonglow is converted into hotels with name "Brij Rama Palace" which charges 30k per day for one room.

It was here, sitting on the Darbhanga Ghat that Feluda saw Machli Baba without his disguise taking a dip in the river. Without the hustle and bustle of Dasaswamedh, Darbhanga is calm and quiet. A perfect place to sit and take within the beauty of the river.

It is very calm and peaceful here. It is named after the royal family of the princely state of Darbhanga from Bihar. The ghat has a grand Shiva Temple. It also has a shrine of Kukuteshwara.

Lot of dirty things were thrown here and there. Local boat people making lot of nuisance. Even some local people were bathing in the Ganga with soap and shampoo. Cleanliness to be taken care of.

Soothing and calming ghat. This ghat is beside Dashashwamedh Ghat which is very famous for its ganga aarti.

Excellent place. Found it just like in the pictures. When I visited the river was swollen and the water level almost touched the door of the Hanuman temple. Great place for swimmers ( but be extremely careful of the currents if the river is swollen. Strongly recommend to take a local boy around with you if you want to swim)
