The Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel, located in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, is a stunning and iconic church known for its unique architecture and historical significance. Here are some key aspects: Architectural Significance: The church is renowned for its neo-Gothic style, particularly its striking façade. The design is attributed to Zeferino Gutiérrez, a self-taught architect who was reportedly inspired by Gothic churches in Europe, particularly the great cathedrals of France. This inspiration is evident in the spires and intricate details of the exterior. Historical Background: The original church on this site was built in the 17th century. However, the current iconic façade was constructed in the late 19th century. This period was marked by significant political and social changes in Mexico, and the church's evolution reflects some of this history. Cultural and Religious Importance: San Miguel Arcángel holds a central place in the religious and cultural life of San Miguel de Allende. It's not only a place of worship but also a symbol of the city. Its image is often used in representations of the town and is a major draw for tourists. Location and Community: Situated in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, the church contributes significantly to the town's status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town is known for its well-preserved historic center, vibrant arts scene, and cultural festivals, with the church often playing a role in these events. Tourist Attraction: For visitors, the church is a must-see landmark. Its unique architecture stands out among the colonial buildings of San Miguel de Allende, making it a popular subject for photography and a central starting point for exploring the town. In summary, the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel is not just a religious site but also an architectural marvel and a symbol deeply embedded in the cultural fabric of San Miguel de Allende. Its unique style and historical significance make it a highlight for both locals and tourists alike.

How beautiful San Miguel de Allende is, I only went for a few days and I was filled with all its beauty. See so much art at its best, its colorful streets. your food so delicious. the warmth of its people. Walk its streets enjoying the most delicious coffee I have ever tasted in my life. A unique experience, I will return again to continue enjoying so much art. If you know San Miguel de Allende you have to come and see it and you will love it. And the church of San Miguel Arcángel is beautiful Gothic style. You have to come and meet her.

Pretty, rather laid back. There are a lot of photo ops. Open a lot of hours I suggest going at different times of the day as the lighting the look. Sunset is especially pretty. Take time to find all the statues. The intubation of Jesus can be particularly bloody.

Wow what a beautiful church, both on the outside and inside. Has so many details for you to explore throughout if really is a dream. If you are a photographer you will also love this place, the architecture is incredible. We were lucky to be here for a wedding and the ceremony was wonderful.

And the number one best small city in the world is San Miguel de Allende! This gem of a Mexican destination is prized for its colorful Spanish colonial-era architecture that distinguishes its historical core.

San Miguel de Allende is a very beautiful town. A must visit if ever thinking of a trip to Mexico. We stayed out side of town, took a taxi that was only a 5 minute drive. Everyone in San Miguel is very friendly, us driving a big SUV was hard to navigate the small narrow street, so a taxi was perfect. First view of the sparroquia is breathtaking so beautiful specially during the night, we went on Dia De los Muertos weekend, was a very busy time with so much going on, we were able to walk in the church take lots of pictures and enjoy the walk outside the church. A must see

One of the most beautiful places on this planet! We stayed at an Airbnb and it was in a great location to the church. Most places take credit cards but carry some cash for shopping and vendors. Can't wait to be back this October!

This church really makes this whole town even more special then it already is. The church was quite busy even on a weekday, there is a lovely square nearby with heaps of people. The design of the church is phenomenal, it is free to look Inside. We walked here from parking further away in a free parking area on the side of the road. “Jonique Life” If you find value in our reviews please consider following our social media outlets on Facebook and Instagram as we highlight magical places you can add to your ever growing bucket list.

The cathedral is very beautiful and there are many events to show a traditional dance parade. It is vey interesting. All of people rhe parade are very in passion so it makes all the persons be happy and rwally enjoy it. I thing the city is very smart and they know well how to manage the spot for the tour.

Baroque architecture in Mexico is not common, for sure the church worth visit. The interior design is simple but overall beauty which this church brings to square is amazing. Suggest to take a seat in on of the benches in the park or enjoy a beer or wine in one of the bar/ restaurants around the square and watch this church for a while

Me tocó presencial la manera como santizan La Parroquia... IMPRESIONANTE, limpian detalladamente banca por banca, trapean todo el templo, y desinfectan todo el lugar dedicando más de una hora entre cada celebración

Beautiful and free. No entrance during services. Not as good to go mid day as the church is washed out for photos. Best photos can be taken from the left and right of the church inside the gate.

Dramatically beautiful pink neo-Baroque cathedral, bells ringing often, surrounded by visitors in the main plaza. Amazing inside. Used often by community members during festivals, regular Mass. Open to the public. Now houses the Black Christ.

This is a church of the most famous structure in the central part of San Miguel de Allende and is welcoming to all sorts of activities along the streets that surround this site.. since it so centralized a location there are many activities in the area... today the church was closed and I was only able to take photos from the exterior areas..this is a central area to meet friends

The fact that the architect of this church was inspired by one that is located in Colony, Germany without having the opportunity to visit it, makes this site and its architecture a true masterpiece. It is a perfect spot for weddings and social events. In my opinion, it is more beautiful outside than inside but giving it a chance is totally worth it. It’s height and gothic style make it stand out from any other building around. Definitely the most important and iconic stamp of San Miguel.

This may be one of the most picturesque spots in all of Mexico. The flesh colored stone of the parochia stands in start contrast to the light blue as your skies in the heart of Mexico. Be aware that they have regular services and during those times it is closed to tourism.

If you love churches, say hello to Saint Mike. Lots of history in this area including the old monastery and the adjacent church, but the pink hue to the stone used to construct this building makes it incredibly unique. Like someone else said, the paintings and statues inside are nothing special. But the church has been looted many times over the years. Focus on the architecture and coves ceilings. It's really quite something.

A beautiful historic church in the heart of San Miguel. Definitely worth visiting even if you are not religious. I'm not usually a fan of churches, but this one is exceptional. Absolutely incredible architecture!

Located in the heart of Jardin Square of San Miguel de Allende, this Gothic architectural wonder is perhaps the number destination for any trip to this most beautiful city. It was built in the 1700s during Spanish colonial times. The exterior is spectacular while the interior is very ornate and pure eye candy. One could spend plenty of time seeing all there is to see here. The bells are rung on the quarter hour, and that adds to the charm.

Great Neogothic architecture. Great photo opportunities! Also lots of bars, coffee shops & restaurants. A lot of these have terraces. Go sit at the park across the church to stroll around or maybe to have some traditional ice cream, (nieve the garrafa).

It was so beautiful being an SMA for a weekend. Many hotels are expensive but I found a great deal on air bnb. Also parking lots were way too expensive I'll advise to park a bit away from down town, still it is easy to reach it by a stroll.
