😠 They don't have any proper guidelines. Waiting time is more than 1 hr or sometimes 2 hrs and drivers don't stop the buses. I think its waste of time and money People often mention buses, time, money, route, experience, good, work, tour, city, company,

Bought 3 routes but found I needed to buy 4 to see around the castle route. Went on the purple route took ages going around back streets.very few of the headphone ports worked so no idea where we're were looking at. When next day to buy the green route seats we're so close together many men had to sit with legs in aile . Very bumpy ride and very difficult to take photos as we rushed past attractions. Still no idea what they were as only one person on bus seemed to get headphones working. Would not use this company again. Waste of money.grey line seemed a better option next time.

The busses are an hour apart and not to time. Don’t think you will have time to see multiple places in one day. Little info from staff. Overpriced. Not advised. Try another group.

Greylines hop on hop off tour including the river cruise is exceptional value . The river cruise is provided by Lizboats and is comparable to dedicated / specialised providers but at a significantly lower price . The last cruise of the day is in fact the cheapest near sunset cruise happening in Lisbon. do that and get off at at the large plaza, take some pictures and you have an experience worth many hundreds of dollars for a fraction of that cost .

the most terrible excursion of all, if you take only Europe. They say almost nothing at all. just music that makes you sway. terrible. I don't recommend it to anyone. a family of 4 (two parents and two children) paid 120 euros (30 euros per person), it’s like throwing away money. Just a slap from Lisbon in the face of tourists!!! terrible

The narrative was lacking a bit and the driver we had was a bit jerky. The second day the driver blew past us at the stop like the brakes went out.

Never waste your time in taking thoses buses. Delays on buses. Nothing is arranged and there is no one responsible.

There are two companies operating from the same spot. Gray Line and City sightseeing. As I was making my way to purchase tickets from the kiosk, a lady approached me telling me is the same. She showed me the map. The price seemed good as she said I get an extra day for free. There are 4 routes. The red and the purple are almost exactly the same. The departure is every hour. The last departure is at 1800 hrs. I find it very difficult to actually stop over when you do not know exactly when is the next bus. To interchange between routes is recommended you do it at he starting point. Really a hassle. The buses look the same as the Gray Line so is easy to confuse. The company especially the drivers lack passion for the job. They take breaks wherever they want (I guess in order to not arrive at the initial point to early). They do not speak english. Please do not do the same mistake I did. Although the lady selling the tickets has amazing selling skills, do your homework. Go for the Gray Line.

They were there looking videos on thier cellophone.. I asked for the green line and the guy told me that it will arrive in ten minute. I didn't know that the green line is the small one.. he knows that i was waiting for it..when the bus arrived he didn't say anything.. so i lost the bus and had to wait 20 mins again! They must pay attention to the tourist who uses these buses instead of looking videos on thier phone.

Audio connection is bad. Even the slightest pothole interrupts the sound and you have to restart the connection

The headphones did not work on 2 of the buses and we gave up after waiting 1h30 for a bus when wanting to hop on again.

As in all cities it is very convenient but pay attention to the end time: they tell you that it ends at 6pm but it's not like the last bus leaves at 6pm. So prepare yourself in advance for the distant stops

It's not a bad experience if the weather is good. The buses are clean, you have a good view, and if the headphone ports work; you're in shape.

We felt good winked by this company as we bought a two day pass and we only got to do one of the four lines available There was no one around to speak to about getting a refund or assistance when next bus would be available There was loud music playing so it was difficult to hear the announcements about sights we were whizzing by There was a lot of seats where the speakers didn’t work Would not recommend this Better off on foot or in a tuk tuk

I generally love Big Bus Hop On Hop Off, but not in Lisbon. They were very poor at supplying useful and accurate information. Here is my tale of woe. We were on a cruise and had a 3.5 hour window before departure. The driver said the tour lasted two hours. The bus took 30 minutes before it left the station. An hour into the tour the bus pulled into the main station. We were told stay on the bus to return to the dock. Then we told to get off the bus it was not continuing. We told wait 30 minutes for another bus on a different route, followed by that bus would not arrive at the dock in time. We were directed to yet another route that would get within two miles off the dock and we could walk the rest of the way.

I have done these HOHO tours all across Europe with the same company, and they have generally been good - but the Lisbon one was the worst. Unfriendly drivers and rude unhelpful staff who work at the main stop at Marques de Pombal. The small busses that operate on the green route are so cramped and agony for anyone taller than a midget. The bus we were on every second commentary port was broken - not that you missed much - the "commentary" was mainly music - even when passing important landmarks - and the few bits of commentary there was, was incredibly dry and boring. I would recommend skipping this tour - instead get one of the tuk tuk tours - a bit more expensive but you'll get a much better experience.

Don’t waist your time and money, it was the worse experience I’ve had taking this kind of hip hop off buses in Europe. Bus stations are difficult to find, there is no app to show where stations are. Even when you find the station, good luck to get a bus. Buses are rare.

Do NOT use the City Sightseeing bus which is the red one. I used them in another city in Portugal and half of the busses were broken down. This led to us not being able to use our ticket as purchased, and when emailed about it, received zero response. Use the Yellow bus. They have better stops anyway

Worst hop on hop off ever. Lines changed, they didn't update the map and the busses arrive maybe once an hour. Completely chaotic. Definitely not worth it for this expensive price.

Very expensive for what it offers, don't recommend. Misleading info by seller, said we have bus from Cascai at 12:30 from Lison, but it was the other way around. Go to Cascai by train for 1/5 of the price and faster. The drivers do their own tour. The app is misleading and useless, has incomplete info, for example, doesn't show that are 3 points of embarking on boat and that are different times for each and doesn't show where the busses are as advertised. We missed the last boat because the castle route driver took off track route, had big delay and took us to starting point without announcing us when boarding. Overall you don't have what to see in Lisbon by the hop on hop off, for us it was a big waste of money and time. Booked 3 lines, red/orange/green and boat for 72h.

It‘s a very touristic thing to do for sure. But it gives you a good overview of the city and helps you to get a feeling for distances between the interesting places. We arrived in Lisboa in the morning after after a long flight and were happy to use this affordable service to just relax while being shown around. My earplugs worked fine, the drivers were angry in a funny way and overall 4/5 stars is a fair review.

We did all the tours on the first day. Was great!!!! And from the second day we experienced all the sights we had chosen by metro, tram (what fun) and city bus (note the correct final destination 🥴). We were in Lisbon in January and it was not crowded. It was worth it!!! The prices for public transport are quite good and there is endless things to see.

I fear this review will find you too late- as we did not read the reviews based on the brand of City Sightseeing Hop On Hop Off around Europe, which we normally find quite good and a helpful way to get the lay of the land- and you too are on here to leave your bad review. Do not, I repeat, do not waste your money. We considered doing Tram 28 for about €3 each but decided we wanted to have some information as we went by- this was a mistake. Many stops have zero information and those who do it’s minimal. The stops pick you up EVERY 2 HOURS so we were a bit nervous to get off not knowing anything about the area- so if you do this tour you need to go in with your research of where you would want to venture off and make sure that’s where you want to spend 2 hours. This is more a drop off tour then hop on hop off. I would suggest do Tran 28 and listen to your own Portuguese music and you will have the exact same experience for much less.

Waarom of money. You buy a ticket online. Receive a digital QR code in your apple wallet and than they say this does not work. The paper ticket we got didn’t work after two days due to the bad quality but we couldn’t get a new one. Bad service. Waisted money.

It’s a great way to see a city. Keep you’re receipt from another city ride to get 10% off price. Too much music, not enough commentary, route different to map, no indication you were at a number stop. Hopefully the company will read this and action.

Very bad! As a flight attendant I go on hop on hop off tours all around the world. I have never had such a bad experience and unfriendly staff. You should definitely choose a different company.

This is for CITY SIGHTSEEING: Busses are hour apart, no information about stops, route is different than shows on flyer or on website... No announcements about the stops, little to none info about city attractions, old bus, old technology... Not worth the money, get the Gray Line bus instead

Terrible! We took 2 trips. The first one was disappointing. The narration was dreadful. It didn’t correlate with where the bus was actually located. Rarely advised whether we should be looking to the right or the left. We went back for more - Duh. This time it was the so called Castle route. It was so.bad as to be laughable. The narration was still dire. But the driver had pop music turned up at full blast. That, added with women who had no interest in the tour yelling loudly on their phones. A screaming baby to boot ( not the tour operators fault I know). It was an absolute gong show. Don’t waste your money!! This was the red bus btw

Like many others very poor overall experience. The blue route is largely just driving down boring city streets. There is little to no commentary along most of it. Only really 2 stops (the tower and the zoo) which given it is 1hr45m in duration is bewildering. Driver was friendly though.

Really a must. This way you get a good impression of the city of Lisbon. We took 2 routes. The red and the green line. Price for the hop on hop off is also not too bad.

They offer 48 hrs for 24. Save your money. Old buses. Sitting here at stop 1 and 10 grey line buses for every one of these. The descriptions don't work on the majority of seats. You've been warned. Its awful

Good to ride to navigate around the city. Audio was not working, only the red line was worth it.

  • 3/5 Emidia L. 11 months ago on Google
It’s the luck of the draw. Some buses work well and others don’t work: the audio tours didn’t work in half of the buses we took, one bus just wouldn’t sell tickets for people trying to join in because they said their machine was broken. At last, we were able to go to Cascais for the day, and that was worth the hassle.

There are several providers, but we had the red buses (from the company called Gray Line). Unfortunately it was rainy and windy, sitting inside is always a bit less of an experience, but there is little the company can do about that. What they can do something about is that they left us standing in the pouring rain because we were not exactly at the stop. Waited half an hour for the next bus, to our surprise the driver stopped at exactly the same point to let passengers in. That certainly ruined our experience. Too bad that not all drivers are so friendly to their customers.
