Great live music, average food. Went here in June 2022 after looking at other places to spend the last night in Lisbon. Last trip to Lisbon four years ago we ended up going to a Fado bar where the food and drinks were cheap and cheerful. Live music was great. Two main singers and some guest singers. The two acoustic string musicians are the unsung heroes of the evening - played so well. Sat next to the door with the musicians so we had a great acoustic experience short of being inside the diner. There were half hour breaks between the singing sessions. Please tip the musicians, they work so hard! Some of the people who were dining knew the singers and they cheered loudly in appreciation which added to the lively atmosphere. Service was relatively efficient by Portuguese standards meaning you won't be waiting 15 minutes for the bill as the staff like to have tables turnover to feed more people. Food was so so. You need to spend 15 euros per person minimum. Having spend months in Portugal over the last few years, I don't imagine this restaurant with the food they serve at the price they charge would survive without the fabulous music. You go for the live Fado music which is amazing. Hopefully next time I am in Lisbon I will revisit and the food will be better.

We walked past and asked if they had room for the party of seven and without missing a beat we were seated and comfortable for dinner and a show! The food was amazing, every dish! And the singing was an added delight. Yes the service could have been a little speedier, but have a drink and slow down a bit - enjoy!!

In Alfama's embrace, a gem we found, A Portuguese delight where hearts are bound. With dishes of pork, succulent and divine, And fried cod that dances on taste buds fine. Amidst candlelit tables, a fado tale unfurls, Singers serenade, souls awash in swirls. Their voices, like velvet, caress the air, Echoing emotions, memories they bear. Each bite of pork, a tender symphony, Rich flavors burst, igniting ecstasy. The Portuguese artistry graces each plate, Crafted with love, a culinary debate. And fried cod, crispy golden delight, Transports you to Lisbon, a coastal sight. Its flaky flesh, seasoned to perfection, Leaves palates smitten, craving no correction. Alfama's essence, a wondrous retreat, Where Portuguese flavors and fado meet. A feast for senses, in iambic rhyme, This restaurant's magic stands the test of time.

Wandering The Alfama and found this gem. I’m old school and love traditional music and books. This place has Fado that speaks to your soul and has the oldest operating book store in the world.. 1732 . 44 years before America was established Put this on your bucket list..

Very nice fado music, and nice food. Our waitress was especially nice all evening and even ran after us when we forgot our backpack at the end of the night! Lovely location.

Overall pretty average food and below standard service. Cash-only, slightly mixed up orders, pretty slow. Interior is also not great, but the atmosphere increases by the presence of fado. It was usually 4 songs, about 15min followed by a 30min break.

The way to finding this place in the middle of nowhere was a high point of the evening! The view coming down, the moon and the starts, the narrow streets, all of it pure poetry! Service was really kind, food was delicious, authentic, and the music! Oh! The music! Super worth coming! A trip to another universe! Loved every bit of it!

Lovely small restaurant with some beautiful fado music being played. We didn't eat, but we had some lovely green wine. The guys serving were great, very friendly. It's cash only, so bear that in mind when visiting.

Somewhere in the narrow streets and alleys of Alfama is this cozy and romantic tavern! Great food and service! The fado music was wonderful! We sat outside under the stars. Highly recommended!

Went here without booking and was able to listen to some authentic Fado in a nice environment. You have to eat in order to sit indoors but they will let you stand in the doorway to enjoy the experience. Order cod fritters, which were good but cold on the inside. Service was friendly

Food was nothing special. Fado was really good although only 4 songs per hour. Nice atmosphere.

It's better to book a table in advance, just in case. We sat inside so we could listen to the music and look at the musicians - amazing experience. The food is great and the service is fast. I totally recommend garlic shrimps and a cod fish followed by a red sangria. Just remember that a minimum order per person is 15€ so don't eat too much before the fado night here!

We stumbled on this place by accident, and honestly it was one of the most amazing experiences we ever had while dining. The Fado musicians were amazing, the location has a great vibe and is quite a bit away from the main tourist street. The food and staff are also really great. All in all we would really recommend this place!

Fairly good food and service. Lovely staff. Ordered mixed salad and they accidentally served fries which they apologised at the end but didn’t take off of price. Would try again. Prawns were delicious and cooked well, but as I’ve found in most of Europe you have to peel it yourself. Steak was over cooked for my liking but still tender and tasty.

The music is nice.. I could not pay by card because it was less than 30 euros. 😑 Expensive beers

We tried to go to another place for dinner, but it wasn’t open. And happened, so luckily, to stumble upon Fabo na Morgadinha. The music and performers were amazing. The Cod Fish at Bras was delish. Reminds me of poutine, but with shoestring fries and fish instead of cheese curds and bacon. The passion fruit sangria hit the spot after a long day of exploring.
