Definitely worth visiting, the castle has easy access with bus number 1 that leaves you just by the entrance, or taking the stairs from the city center (around 20 minutes walk uphill, but don't do it during afternoon hours without water). The view is amazing. Don't forget to check the viewpoint that is some meters downhill from the castle entrance too. Sundays after 14:00 the entrance is for free, so you may want to visit then :)

Nice place, but do not go up on foot, because this is really difficult, especially if you have a child or someone who cannot walk for a long time. Go up by bus or taxi, but do not go up on foot, especially in summer !!!!

Exceptional 360° view of the entire city of Malaga. It is a bit of a walk up (20-25 mins) but definitely worth it. Entry is free on Sundays. Regular price - €3.50 Reduced (students, seniors, etc.) - €1.50

Located at the top of the hill, about 20 minute walk from La Alcazaba, overlooking the entire city. Marvelous views and scenery, great place for pictures. Highly recommend visiting early morning (open at 9 am) or later in the afternoon as it takes some effort. When you enter it's better to start with the wall and then visit the gardens. A must see

Climb up 20 mins for the best views of the city from many angles. Get the combined ticket for 5.5 euros for both the castle and Alcazaba.

Buy combo ticket for Alcazaba and Gibralfaro sites. They have nice free audio guide. We visited Gibralfaro at sunset and liked a lot. The view was delighful. It is a nice 30 minutes walk from Malaga Museum.

The place itself is great. We had a nice time up there with my wife and our 3 yr old daughter. Than why the 2 stars? Well, we have arrived a bit late and we were aware that the place closes at 18.00 o'clock. However, playing with the kid we forgot about the time and arrived at the exit point at 18.07. My mistake, it's true. However, there was no closing time annouced on loudspeaker nor any guards looking for people still inside. The gate was closed with a lock, nobody around. Only one lady in some guard uniform climbing the stairs. She saw us, but continued climbing. Well, we thought it's not her job to let us out, so we waited. After some minutes the same lady appears on the top of the wall, yelling at us in spanish. We told her we only speak english, so she gathered all her english knowledge (not much), to let us know how stupid we are, calling me irresponsible and some other kind things, all this yelling from the top of the castle wall. She continued the show for about five minutes before climbing down and letting us finally out on the gates. She must have felt really important during that 5 minutes she was trying to humiliate us in front of the kid, so I think she really deserves a medal or some bonus from the managment. Hope they will read this. 😃

Great place to take in some history and spectacular views of the Mediterranean and the mountains.

Linked to the Alcazaba and included in the price. Fabulous views of the city and coast but a very steep and quite long climb to the top. Avoid doing this during the heat of the day. While views are fantastic and the castle's location is impressive, there is not that much to see up there apart from the views and the ramparts. Well worth a visit but only if you're relatively fit and don't mind getting hot and sweaty. If choosing just one of the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro, choose the former.

It's a very impressive monument with an amazing view, but please take the bus. That LONG and steep walk is not worth it.

At the highest point in the city of Malaga, this castle offers a time travel in the past along with a 360 spectacular view. There's a public bus (Line 35) that you can take at the stop of Alameda Principal or at Parque de Malaga that takes you up to the entrance of the Castle. Don't miss it!

Gibralfaro Park in Málaga, Spain, is a hidden gem. It's a scenic hour-long walk from the old city center to the top, where you're treated to stunning panoramic views of the city and the beach promenade. It's an ideal spot to catch a sunset or sunrise. Whether you're with family or on your own, this serene park is a must-visit in Málaga, offering tranquility and natural beauty that's truly memorable.

We did the long and steep hike up the mountain. About 80% of the way up the hike, there is a free lookout point. We found the lookout point had a better view and was better suited for pictures. The views inside here were actually blocked by trees and less impressive. My opinion is to go to the free lookout point and skip paying the entry fee here.
