Great restaurant, very popular, menu was brilliant with a good range of wines. Veal was a good option, particularly as you don't see it all that often. Atmospheric, and just far enough off the beaten track to make it not too crowded.

The food (main meal) was very good but the service very much below average. Did not get any bread or things to nip when sat - BUT they charged the bread that wasn't there. 4 euro for bread that never came on table. The starter (duck paté) was without taste and the biscuit that came with the paté taster as they run out of date long time ago Had 2 beers but they charged for 3 on the bill.

*UPDATE FEB 2018* Came back another two times in february. One time for lunch and another time for dinner. Still absolutely delicious food and out-of-this world lovely service! I've been here a couple of times.. It is one absolutely fantastic spanish family owned restaurant. From the moment you step inside you feel very welcome. The huge whole Lamb Shoulder is absolutely delicious, the same with the lamb leg. The desserts are also really good and cooked with alot of alcohol and love from the Father Chef in the middle of the restaurant. I can't wait to get back to Las Llaves in February 2018, because this restaurant is absolutely a must visit if you come around La Cala de Mijas, less than 45 minutes south of Malaga.

This used to have a great reputation, been here plenty of times over the years. Don't know what happened but we had a bad evening meal here . Service was slow , they didn't know where to put us, even though we booked the day before and the place had only 1 table occupied when we arrived. There were 6 of us. 3 of us had steak, it tasted of nothing. The duck was good. The 3 men left to walk home, while the 3 of us woman waited for a taxi, so WE were paying the bill. Waitress told us the men didn't leave a tip. We were confused as ,well, they weren't paying !! Very disappointing

We visited this restaurant with high hopes as lots of our Spanish friends recommend it. The food was delicious. The place beautiful. But the service was shocking. I ordered ice - it never came. I ordered a glass of white wine - it never came. We ordered a bottle of red wine to go with the main course... that didn't come. We had to keep asking which was quite embarrassing. The cherry on the cake was when the bill came €135. Well worth it for the quality of the food however, I like to have my change returned so I can then hand it over myself with thanks, but the rude male waiter decided to keep it. When I asked for it to be returned he practically threw the saucer of money at me with a look of disgust. I didn't want to leave a penny after that due to bad/ extremely rude service but we did leave the 10% purely because the food was great. If I could of handed it to the Chef directly I would of done!

Tucked away a few steps off the boardwalk in Torre Nuevo, Las Llaves offers authentic Spanish cuisine. We had the roasted meats meal, offered from 1:30-5:00, Saturday and Sunday, $35€ per person. Includes lots of good local wine and dessert! I wanted to dare myself to eat things I would not normally try--It was delicious! Being very popular with Spanish locals, be sure to make a reservation. The staff is delightful as well. Tell Jasmina I said " hello!"

Found this place online, looking for somewhere to stop en route. Easy on street parking. They were really friendly on arrival, and gave us two complimentary appetisers that were delicious. They were very helpful as we ordered our mains and had some questions. The food was excellent. I had the beef entrecote with peper sauce, which was delicious. And then they gave us a complimentary round of drinks at the end. Highly recommend!

"Very Spanish" restaurant with top service minded staff. Recommended especially for meat lovers. Two entrances but not THAT easy to find. Call to reserve your table...

Las llaves is honestly one of the best restaurants in Andalusia. The quality of the food, the ingredients and the execution of the dishes is superb. Our top picks to start are the avocado with prawns and the tomato salads. All the meats are outstanding, particularly the steaks and they make a delicious peppercorn sauce that takes it to another level. The lamb, pork and even seafood are also great. The staff are warm, welcoming and efficient and the restaurant has a very traditional Spanish vibe. It’s a little off the beaten track but well worth a special visit. You won’t be disappointed!

Celebrated my birthday there with some very good friends and the restaurant surprised us with a bottle of cava to start with. Food and service is excellent.

A wery nice restaurant which we have visited for more than 15 years when we have stayed in Mirafloras. Latest we have selebrated my mothers 70 birthday, the food was fantastic and so was the atmosphere and we are looking forward to our next visit

We booked a table and reconfirmed the booking in the morning, but sadly when we arrived we were told no such booking existed. They made a a fuss about it even though half of the restaurant was empty. They put us on a table surrounded by flies (fair enough - not their fault) but when we ordered I was told both things I wanted were not on the menu. When we asked to pay for our drinks as we’d decided to leave, they brought us over a sad looking hors d’oeuvre and charged us for it. Just a strange experience overall and I wouldn’t return.

Had excellent meal there last night. Probably the best Spanish in the area. Great atmosphere and very good food. It’s excellent value. As a matter of interest, we paid €94 for four people with bottle of wine, four bottles of water and deserts for all of us. This compares with €79 last week at Miraflores for two people with mediocre meal.

My dining experience at Las Llaves in La Cala de Mijas, Spain, at the end of January was nothing short of delightful. Established almost thirty years ago, this Michelin-recommended restaurant exudes an old-world charm. The service was both professional and friendly, contributing to the overall welcoming atmosphere. Las Llaves takes pride in offering sophisticated, high-quality cuisine, with a focus on expertly roasted meats in a wood-fired oven. Opting for the shared entree tasting menu during lunch with three companions, we were treated to a culinary journey through eight seasonal dishes. From a tantalizing starter plate of chorizo to generous portions of assorted heirloom tomatoes, Russian salad, black pudding, cured ham, and grilled fresh goat cheese, each dish showcased the restaurant's commitment to quality. The 20-euro price per person for this indulgent experience made it an exceptional value. To cap off the meal, we enjoyed coffee along with a delectable cheesecake adorned with blueberry sauce and a brownie square. Las Llaves left us pleasantly full, creating a truly memorable dining experience, thanks in part to the excellent and friendly service. I look forward with excitement to returning on our next visit to Spain.

What a fabulous place. Food is incredibly good. Staff are incredibly friendly & helpful. The service felt really personal. Cocktails are fabulous too. Aside from fabulous food, staff & service, the restaurant itself is just worth a visit. The decor is just so interesting, almost like a little museum. I cannot recommend this lovely place highly enough.

Was the best steak in the world but we won’t go back… V V Sad We have been going to Las Llaves for over 20 years and it was, up to last year (2022), the best steak we’ve had in the world bar none. Tonight 25 August 2023 was possibly the worst cooked steaks we’ve ever had. We ordered premium steaks Tbone and Rib eye both were cold and under cooked. We’re not people attempting to eat on then cheap - we paid the bill in full… but the staff couldn’t really care less. So sad, as we will never go back - they don’t deserve us…but take a chance if you want …

I had the pleasure of visiting the family-run restaurant on the in Mijas, and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere was simply amazing, with a warm and inviting ambiance that immediately calmed my senses. The food was fantastic - each dish had been prepared with care and love, and you could really taste that only the best ingredients had been used. The wine selection was huge and I couldn't wait to try different varieties. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive. The staff were very nice and accommodating, and they really went out of their way to make our visit unforgettable. They were always ready to answer questions and give us recommendations. Overall, my visit to this restaurant was a true delight. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great culinary experience on the Costa del Sol. The combination of great ambiance, very good food, huge wine selection, and very nice and accommodating service made my stay there an unforgettable experience.

Food was lovely, service good. A few dishes on menu say 'On Request' these have to be booked 24 hours in advance, which we didn't find out until we arrived.

Eat before you go. I ordered gaspacho was good and lamp chops. Got 4 chops 80 percent fat very small, half a jacket potato and a TEASPOON of vegetable cost loads. The food was okay but small portion. Cost a LOT. We will not be going again.

One of the best, typically Spanish restaurants in Cala de Mijas. Beautifully set out inside and out with ambient lighting inside and cosy tables - favouring string lights, candles palm trees and cozy tables in nooks and crannies outdoors. Food is superb. lots of local fish and plenty of meat dishes with lovely salads. Plenty of choices of flambes, crepes and homemade sweets. The staff are excellent, polite, professional and very helpful. a credit to the owner. ♡

A fantastic dining experience, with exceptional service. My black pudding starter was well presented and delicious, while the 18oz T-Bone was without a doubt the best steak I’ve ever had. I was presented with the cut prior to cooking and I was astounded by how well cooked it was - both cuts were perfection. Jeremy and team (special shout out to our server Jaz, who was so attentive and all around brilliant with our needs) are the best around - the hidden gem of La Cala. We highly recommend and will be back every year.
